Abstract: A top cover and safing blade assembly replaces the prior art top cover and safing sector in 7.62 miniguns. The top cover and aft camming portion of a longitudinal helical track are combined in a single unit, thus permitting the forward camming portion of the helical track, incorporated in the safing blade, to be removed separately. Safing the gun by opening the safing blade and rearming it by closing the safing blade can be accomplished in far less time than is required in prior art safing systems. Live cartridges can be quickly cleared from the minigun by electrically rotating the barrels after the safing blade has been locked in its open position.
Abstract: A system for connecting an accessory to a firearm having an enlarged muzzle portion has a body with a bore sized to closely receive the enlarged portion. The body has a stop to limit the insertion depth of the muzzle. A gate is received by the body for movement along the path perpendicular to the bore axis. The gate has a recessed area sized to receive the enlarged muzzle portion. A spring generates axial force to retain the muzzle portion within the recessed area. Compression of the spring enables movement of the gate to shift between an open and closed position, so that the accessory may be removed or installed when in the open position, and secured when in the closed position.
Abstract: A semiautomatic rifle has a housing defining a housing axis and containing a bolt assembly that reciprocates along the housing axis. The bolt assembly has a bolt carrier and a bolt, which reciprocates axially with respect to the carrier. A barrel is connected to the housing, and has a rear portion having a locking chamber that removably receives part of the bolt. An arm element interconnects the bolt carrier and the bolt, and operates to extend the bolt in response to rearward movement of the bolt carrier within the housing. The arm may be pivotally connected to the bolt carrier. The bolt may include a rod external of the bolt carrier, having a rear end contacting the arm, and a forward end contacting the rear of the barrel.
Abstract: A holster assembly for a handgun having various mechanisms for preventing unauthorized access to a handgun therein and wherein the handgun holster is constructed with injection molded, reinforced plastic inserts that are injection over-molded with a chemically compatible material which provides the desired surface characteristics of the holster.
Abstract: A flashlight has a lamp assembly with a number of different output states. The flashlight has an elongated housing defining a housing axis, and a control ring encompasses the housing and rotates on the housing axis. The control ring operates to change the output state in response to rotation of the element. A detent mechanism operably connects the control ring to the housing. The detent mechanism provides a number of different stable positions of the control ring with respect to the housing, and may provide a low profile by employing a thin sheet or wire spring compressing in an axial direction.
