  • Patent number: 8300712
Abstract: The system, apparatus, and method (300) of the present invention provide sub-optimal channel equalization techniques for zero-prefixed orthogonal frequency division modulation (OFDM) systems that retain the performance of least-squares equalization but are not as complex. The technique of the present invention improves equalization performance with less complexity than required by minimum-mean-squared-error (MMSE) equalization as well. The channel matrix is rendered circulant and then truncated where the eigenvalues are small.

  • Patent number: 7825948
Abstract: A 3D video conferencing station includes a video camera for capturing video signals and a depth map calculator for creating a depth map of a user of the 3D video conferencing station. The video signals together with the depth map are transmitted as 3D video data. A stereoscopic display device displays stereo images, which are calculated on the basis of received 3D video data. The depth map which is generated by the depth map calculator is also used for estimating the position of the user in order to control the calculation of the stereo images.

  • Patent number: 7236548
Abstract: Bit level, rather than symbol level, diversity combining is employed within a wireless communications receiver. Channel estimates and bit metrics are separately computed for signals received by different antenna elements. Bit metrics are calculated by determining a least squares cumulative difference between all bits within the received symbol and corresponding bits within constellation symbols as modified by the channel estimate. The separately-determined bit metrics are then combined for decoding. Performance improvements over both single antenna systems and multiple antenna systems with symbol level diversity combining are achieved.

  • Patent number: 7210162
Abstract: An inverting adapter is disclosed that inverts inverted DVB-ASI signals to produce an adapted DVB-ASI signal. This adapted DVB-ASI signal may be used by any DVB-ASI device. The inverting adapter can be contained in one small package and easily connected to any of the various amplification devices that produce inverted DVB-ASI signals. Alternatively, the inverting adapter of the present invention may be integrally formed with an amplification device to automatically provide the adapted DVB-ASI signal.

  • Patent number: 7152161
Abstract: methods of embedding and detecting a watermark in an information signal (x(n), y?(n)) which are robust against sampling rate conversions of the watermarked signal (y(n)) adapts frame lengths used by an embedder and the detector, respectively, so as to preserve a constant ratio between the respective sampling rate and frame length. The frame lengths may be calculated from a greatest common divisor of a set of sampling rates providing watermarks which are robust against sampling rate conversions between any sampling rates of the set of sampling rates.

  • Patent number: 7061895
Abstract: A network includes a plurality of terminals of which at least one terminal is provided for storing certain traffic ratios measured at predetermined distances between at least part of the terminals. At least one terminal is provided for ascertaining, based on the stored traffic ratio, whether a change of the function of network controller from one terminal to another is necessary.

  • Patent number: 7050970
    Abstract: An encoder includes a segmentation unit for segmenting an audio or speech signal into at least one segment and a calculation unit for calculating sinusoidal code data in the form of frequency and amplitude data of a given extension from the segment such that the extension approximates the segment for a given criterion. The calculation of the sinusoidal code data ?ki, dji and eji for the segment x(n) is carried out according to the following extension {circumflex over (x)}: x ? = ? i = 1 L ? ? ? j = 0 J - 1 ? ? [ d j i ? f j ? ( n ) ? cos ? ( ? i ? ( n ) ) + e j i ? f j ? ( n ) ? sin ( ? i ? ( n ) ] . Fig . ? 1.
