  • Patent number: 6242157
Abstract: A phase change optical recording medium has on a substrate a recording layer consisting essentially of a Sb base thin film and a reactive thin film. The Sb base thin film is formed by depositing a Sb base material containing at least 95 at % of Sb to a thickness of 70-150 Å. The reactive thin film is formed of a material which forms a phase change recording material when mixed with Sb. The reactive thin film is typically formed of an In—Ag—Te or Ge—Te material. Stable write/read characteristics are accomplished at the first overwriting, initializing operation is eliminated, and rewriting is impossible at the same linear velocity as recording.

  • Patent number: 6224878
Abstract: A recombinant virus is provided which is obtained from a BHV virus originally having the gI gene whose DNA sequence is delimited by nucleotides 172 and 1311 of SEQ ID NO:1 herein and which has been mutated by total or partial deletion and/or insertion in this region. By the mutation in this region, there is no longer any expression of the glycoprotein which has been mutated or rendered inactive, and thus animals vaccinated with these mutants do not develop antibodies against the glycoprotein and can be serologically distinguished from animals infected by field BHV-1 strains and other vaccinal strains currently used. A method of using the present recombinant virus is also provided which allows one to distinguish infected animals from vaccinated animals in a manner that has not previously been possible using presently available commercial vaccines.

  • Patent number: 6192662
Abstract: The blade (12) which is to make the transverse cut of the film in the product packaging station is fixed in the lower part of the grooved section (11) which forms part of the front folder (9) of the packaging machine and has its cutting edge facing downwards. The film to be cut (102) is raised against this blade by a parallel grooved bar (13) with rounded and preferably staggered edges, which in an intermediate phase before its own working travel is also used to raise the section of the film which will have to be cut subsequently, to dispose the film in the correct position for gripping by the lateral grippers (6) of the packaging machine. The said film raising bar is preferably driven by means of a link block, by and electric motor (22) with electronic rotation speed and phase control, controlled by the processor of the packaging machine.

  • Patent number: 6161465
Abstract: A hydraulic shutoff device in the end positions of a servo cylinder is provided to prevent direct hard contact between the working piston (31) and the limit stops (47, 48) under working pressure and to enable withdrawal from end positions with hydraulic assistance. Idler pistons (32, 33) with limited displaceability are located on the working piston (31) and act as a seal, fitting tightly against the sealing edges (34, 35) of the working piston. The sealing edges (34, 35) control a bypass channel (36) located in the working piston (31). A spring (41) is inserted between the idler pistons (32, 33) in a chamber (40) which can be pressurized. When the working piston (31) comes into contact, for instance, with the limit stop (48) of the bush (43), the collar (45) knocks one idler piston (33) away from the sealing edge (35). Junction with the chamber (40) occurs through the bypass channel (36), whereupon the working pressure pushes the idler piston (32) back against the spring (41) away from its sealing edge (34).

  • Patent number: 6146910
Abstract: A method is provided for extracting overlay information from a target of an integrated circuit wafer wherein the first-level target has features wh are optically concealed by an overlying opaque planarized film. The target employed has an architecture including a resist feature on the planarized film and an embedded electron backscattering target feature disposed beneath the planarized film. This target is scanned with an electron bean of an energy sufficiently high (e.g., at least 11 keV) to penetrate the planarized film, be backscattered by the backscattered feature and return through the planarized film or through the planarized film and the resist feature. Electrons backscattered from the conductive first-level target feature through the resist feature are detected and a signal profile is generated based thereon. This signal profile is analyzed to extract overlay information.

  • Patent number: 6129001
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for controlling the function of all kinds of reciprocable power machines which are actuated by pneumatic, hydraulic of any other pressure fluid, irrespective if the machines are of rotary or axially operating type, in which the active power stroke is accomplished using full power of pressure fluid against a reciprocatable piston (2) in the active air pressure chamber (10, 12), and in which the reversing of the direction of operation is made by alternatingly supplying pressure fluid to the opposite air pressure chamber (12, 10) of the machine. A valve poppet (6) having several channels alternately places one of the pressure chambers (10, 12) of the reciprocatable fluid actuated machine (1, 2) under full pressure, builds up a certain counter pressure in a pressure chamber which is, at the actual moment, inactive, and evacuates the pressure from an inactive pressure chamber of the fluid actuated machine.
