  • Patent number: 8253971
Abstract: In a method for operating at least one machine with a computer, it is possible for at least one task for the production of a printed product to be stored in the computer, which task is processed on the machine. Parameters for setting the machine are stored as parameter sets in templates and relate to one or more production steps. For the purpose of job-specific adaptation, the settings in the templates must be modified. On account of settings which have not been tried and tested and not proven worthwhile, costs arise in terms of quality; in addition the settings can be made only by specialized personnel. To increase quality and to allow less qualified personnel to operate the machines, a parameter set based on rough entered data is compared with templates and that a most similar template be used to set the production step or steps.

  • Patent number: 8251116
Abstract: An apparatus for upturning a tire-building component on a tire-building drum has a roller lever. To provide an apparatus which is capable of upturning a tire-building component on a tire-building drum, and which achieves the upturn of the tire-building component without defects, in particular unintended creasing in the side wall, it is proposed that, during the procedure of preparation for upturning, a spacer provides separation between the roller and the segment in such a way that the roller is in essence in contact exclusively with the tire-building component. The roller therefore rolls along the tire-building component.

  • Patent number: 8249055
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for localization and location-related connection of a mobile voice-over-IP subscriber to an emergency call station even when the subscriber is temporarily registered in the voice-over-IP network with an address of a location other than his home address (2). For this purpose, the voice-over-IP network comprises an address database which is either configured as a central or decentralized database and in which addresses are indexed with a location-related number. An address of the location of the subscriber is updated (3) by using the address range predefined in the address database and an emergency call is routed (6, 7, 8, 9, 10) to an associated emergency call station using the location-related number. The location-related number and data of the subscriber are then transmitted to the associated emergency call station (8, 9).

  • Patent number: 8245662
Abstract: A method and a configuration provide dynamic control of a liquid supply for a moisturizing storage device for sealing glued edges of a envelope flap of letter envelopes. Once a measured value has been measured for a sealing liquid which is stored in the tank of a moisturizing apparatus, the type of sealing liquid that is used is qualitatively analyzed on the basis of the measured value and of at least one material parameter as a comparison value. The amount of liquid stored in the moisturizing storage device is then measured by at least one further measurement to allow dynamic control of the liquid supply to the moisturizing storage device as a function of the material parameter and of at least one measured value, which is related to the liquid consumption, in the result of the at least one measurement of the amount of liquid stored in the moisturizing storage device.

  • Patent number: 8246113
Abstract: An office chair or office chair element, such as a backrest or seat, has a flat covering element, such as a fabric, cushioning or webbing element, secured to support elements, such as the arms of a support frame, and tensioned in between. The covering element is provided with a welt strip that, in the fitted state, is placed in an accommodating groove in the support element. The accommodating groove has two oppositely situated contact faces for the welt strip and one of the contact faces is provided with a projection that projects into the accommodating groove and extends in the longitudinal direction of the groove. The welt strip can be pressed into the accommodating groove, resiliently deforming the projection and/or the welt strip and the welt strip, in the fitted state, is positively locked and/or friction-locked in the groove with abutment against the contact faces, with the projection preventing the welt strip from escaping from the accommodating groove.

  • Patent number: 8249262
Abstract: A device for acoustic analysis has a first hearing device with a first sound input and a first sound output and a second hearing device with a second sound input and a second sound output. The first hearing device is in acoustic communication with the second hearing device. The first hearing device can analyze the acoustic communication and output a corresponding result. Consequently, two hearing aids, for example, can test each other, and permit a user to check hearing devices and, in particular, hearing aids in a simple fashion without the hearing aid wearer having to visit an audiologist for the test.

  • Patent number: 8245637
Abstract: A device and a method for separating printing plates from a stack uses a lifting device for lifting the printing plates and at least one separating element to be moved under the lifted printing plates. The structurally simple device is able to react flexibly to different printing plate formats and, at the same time, avoids damage to a surface to be imaged of the individual printing plates. In order to avoid such problems, the device includes at least three separating elements which, as they move under a lifted printing plate at any time, are continuously disposed at distances from one another having a ratio that always remains constant.

  • Patent number: 8248017
Abstract: A method for operating an electric motor with at least two motor terminals that are driven by a control device contains the steps of short-circuiting of at least two of the motor terminals of the electric motor by the control device; measurement of the motor phase currents at the short-circuited motor terminals; and identification of a standstill of the electric motor if a magnitude and/or a frequency of the motor phase currents measured lies below a predefined limit value. In the case of such a reliable identification of the standstill of the electric motor, an enable signal can then advantageously be generated in order, by way of example, to enable access to an apparatus driven by the electric motor.

  • Patent number: 8240253
Abstract: The compression of ballast for a rail track takes place after two-stage cleaning by a cleaning machine. For this purpose, cleaned ballast is dispensed and a first ballast layer is thereby formed. The rail track which is laid on the first ballast layer has lateral oscillations imparted to it by a front stabilization unit, and the first ballast layer is thereby compressed. The formation of a second ballast layer takes place by a second chute, which second ballast layer is subsequently compressed by a rear stabilization unit.
