  • Patent number: 6149341
Abstract: This invention provides for painting a second coat upon a set of parallel striped lines in exact registration in one pass of a motorized painting vehicle for such applications as painting aircraft taxi stripes at airports. Beads are also registered on one of the lines in the same pass. Provisions are made for maintaining registration about curved lines by steering around curves with a shortened wheelbase vehicle and by extending paint nozzles for striping a plurality of parallel lines, typically a center twelve inch wide yellow line between two six inch wide black lines, outboard from one side of the painting vehicle. The vehicle comprises two four wheeled units articulated together by a universal articulation joint permitting vertical articulation so that the leading and trailing wheels may be lifted off the ground to reduce the wheelbase for steering around curves.

  • Patent number: 4693535
Abstract: Means for providing an electrical connection between adjacent cells in an electrochemical accumulator battery through an opening in a cell wall made of plastic material. In a joint (10) consisting of a screw (32) passed through concentric openings (16, 28, 30) in the leg (24, 26) of each plate group bus (20, 22) and in the cell wall (18) and a nut (34) holding the joint together, each leg (24, 26) is arranged tightly against the cell wall (18). Around the screw (32) there is arranged in the openings (16) in the cell wall an annular spacer (36) of greater external diameter than the openings in the legs and with a thickness smaller than that of the cell walls and made of a harder material than the cell walls.

  • Patent number: 4693274
Abstract: This invention relates to a device used in the selection between two fluids that are to be injected into a liquid metal contained in a metallurgical converter: an oxidizing gas and another gas conveying powdered carbonaceous material; both fluids arrive through different conduits to a selecting valve located at the bottom of a metallurgical converter just before a single conduit tuyere for leading one of the fluids to the liquid metal by means of the selective mechanism in such valve.

  • Patent number: 4691931
Abstract: Propelling roller skate comprising a selector on which the pedal is articulated and which is adapted to be placed in two positions: a propulsion position and a braking position. The selector is articulated on the brake device which also carries the shaft of the propulsion lever. The brake device is itself adapted to turn about the drive shaft of the driving wheels. The selector carries a stop finger carrying a brake stop and a propulsion stop cooperating respectively with the brake device and with the propulsion device to prevent the movement which does not correspond to the position selected.

  • Patent number: 4678172
Abstract: A stream of shingled printed products coming off a press at high speed, with variable speed of conveyance and with variable shingle spacing, has alternate products divided into two streams conveyed at reduced speed. Thus two cyclically driven chains present alternating gripper links at a pickup station to grip and transport the alternate products along diverging paths for release on a corresponding pair of conveyor lines for the divided product streams. To conform with varying speeds and spacings, the gripper chain drive is synchronized to operate the grippers as each individual product arrives.

  • Patent number: 4679080
Abstract: A field blanking pulse modifier in which the line synchronizing pulses and the field blanking pulse of a conventional television signal are derived. A counter is arranged to be reset by the field blanking pulse and to count the detected line synchronizing pulses or multiples thereof. An offset count is set corresponding to half the desired difference in duration between the modified field blanking pulse to be generated and the field blanking pulse of the television signal. The generation of the modified field blanking pulse is initiated when the sum of the counter content and the offset count is equal to the counter content which results after the counting of all the line synchronizing pulses between two successive field blanking pulses of the television signal, and the generation of the modified field blanking pulse is terminated when the counter content is equal to the offset count.
