  • Patent number: 5918316
Abstract: A promotional clip-on accessory which is adapted to fold around a cap strap to carry a display panel thereon for displaying promotional material. The clip-on accessory is die cut from a vinyl plastic or cardstock sheet and is pre-scored to include two bi-fold hinges defining a central display panel and two opposite folding panels that are folded around the cap strap. A locking tab configuration is also disclosed for securing the accessory on the cap strap. A push-out outlocking tab is cut into one panel and, once the lower and upper panels have been folded around the back of the cap strap, may be pushed through a second tab in the opposing panel to lock the accessory in position around the cap strap. The accessory may also be cut to form a customized pop-out section which remains erect and coplanar with the front display panel after the accessory is applied to a cap strap, which gives the image of a front display panel custom cut in the shape of a design indicia.

  • Patent number: 5871061
Abstract: The present invention is for a hovercraft load transport assembly which incorporates an air cushion assembly having a fan powered by an engine. The fan draws air into the device downwardly to fill the neoprene skirt of the device. This causes the device to essentially "float" above the ground on a cushion of air. The neoprene skirt is supported on a metal frame. In one embodiment, optional thrust tubes at the back of the device allow for directional movement. Thrust and throttle controls allow for variance in the lift, speed and movement of the device. There is also a load carrying and dumping receptacle which is hydraulically actuated.

  • Patent number: 5820473
Abstract: An improved main joint and/or A joint for a billiard cue stick of the type having at least two detachable sections. The joints include mating tenons extending from opposing sections of the cue stick, and a threaded screw anchored in one of the two sections and extending axially outward through the respective tenon for screw insertion into the mating tenon of the second section. A single or dual-ring collar is also provided for encircling the mating tenons of the two sections. The collar encircles the tenons when the two sections are fully screwed together, and confines the tenons as the screw force causes them to expand. Both the A joint and main joint give an improved self-aligning compression fit. A billiard cue incorporating one or both of said joints will have an increased level of structural integrity in order to reduce deflection and resonance when the billiard cue strikes a cue ball. This helps to give the feel of a solid one-piece cue stick and increases the accuracy and life expectancy thereof.

  • Patent number: 5815925
Abstract: Simple, inexpensive and efficient tip cutting assemblies for allowing an operator to cut the tip of a fresh cartridge of caulk prior to insertion in the barrel. The tip cutting assemblies are provided in the context of two general types of caulking guns having either a metal enclosed frame or single piece molded plastic open frame. In one embodiment for a molded open-frame gun, the cartridge tip cutting assembly includes a cutting bracket attached to the frame and having an aperture there through for insertion of the cartridge tip. The cutting assembly also includes a blade assembly attached to the trigger and extending a blade outwardly between the frame and cutting bracket. Another embodiment for a closed metal-frame gun includes an aperture through a side of the housing for insertion of a cartridge tip, and a tip-cutting member formed with a through-hole to pass the plunger shaft and riding thereon within the housing.

  • Patent number: 5813863
Abstract: A multimedia behavior modification system for promoting awareness and changing high-risk behaviors in areas of significant concern, for example, HIV/AIDS, diabetes, eating disorders, Alzheimer's disease, heart disease, smoking cessation, substance abuse, campus violence, etc. The system includes the computer courseware and two exemplary architectures for presenting the courseware. The computer architectures may be a generic computer with specific multimedia capabilities, and a kiosk-type device with touch-screen capabilities. The courseware can also be delivered over a local area network (LAN), wide area network, or the internet. The courseware includes a selectable progression of modules including dynamic introductory modules leading to a combination of educational modules. The introductory modules are an installation step, a title page, an attention-getting teaser step, and a main menu. The main menu module provides user-selectable links to multiple primary learning modules.

  • Patent number: 5802662
Abstract: A windshield wiper blade design incorporating multiple sections, including one section of conventional wiper blade material and a second section of a lower coefficient of friction material. The first section contacts the windshield as the wiper blade is swiped, but as drag causes the blade to deflect (due to low or non-uniform moisture on the windshield), the second section gradually comes into contact with the surface. This lowers the average coefficient of friction of the blade and avoid excessive vibration. A number of embodiments are shown, all of which include a second section of material attached to the first section without creating an additional pivot point (additional to the apex). They alleviate oscillation of the blade as it wipes a windshield, thus eliminating squeaking, squealing, ineffective skipping across the windshield surface, and the resultant increased windshield wiper wear.

  • Patent number: 5776586
Abstract: A hang-tag for clothing and the like that includes an integral removable tattoo for promotional purposes. The integral tattoo is formed on a multi-layer-paper backing that is attached to the hang-tag by special pressure sensitive adhesive. The tattoo also includes a water soluble slip layer, a waterproof film coating, and an offset printed design such as a corporate logo, all carried on the backing. The hang-tag is a convenient means of securing information regarding product promotion, pricing, and manufacturing to clothing accessories. The integral tattoo gives the retailer the capability of adding a promotional logo or the like at a greatly reduced cost compared to present methods. It is also likely that the tattoo will be removed and applied elsewhere, thereby generating further publicity.

  • Patent number: 5762237
Abstract: A simple, inexpensive and efficient cartridge lock to retain a caulk cartridge within the frame of a caulk gun until intentionally released by the operator, thereby eliminating a potential safety hazard. The cartridge lock includes a resilient spacer having a central passage for slidable insertion over the plunger shaft of the caulk gun. The spacer is inserted onto the plunger shaft and is carried thereon between the piston and supporting wall to require an additional measure of force for retraction of the plunger shaft in order to insert a new cartridge or remove an old one. This avoids inadvertent release and fall-through of the cartridge. Various embodiments of the spacer are contemplated including a constricted spring having one end formed with coils sized for slidable insertion over the plunger shaft, and a constricted end formed with at least one tighter coil for gripping the plunger shaft.

  • Patent number: 5537779
Abstract: A protective storm and security panel arrangement for either awning or sliding type windows or sliding doors. The arrangement for an awning window includes a set of elongate panels, each one being fitted to cover a louver of the awning window. The panels are formed with one turned-in edge to provide a channel for slidable insertion over one end of a window louver, and a second edge having an offset lip that may be seated over the louver. The awning window is closed such that the respective louvers overlap and anchor adjacent panels in place to form a protective shield over the window. When modified for sliding windows, the invention includes a panel and an overhead bracket for mounting one edge of the panel on the sliding window. The panel is formed with two offset halves which conform to the sliding halves of the window when mounted on the bracket, and the bottom half is formed with a turned-in hooked edge to anchor said panel in place when said window is closed thereon.

  • Patent number: 5529225
Abstract: A simple and economical drive mechanism for caulk dispensing devices that gives a dripstop release feature to improve control over the bead of caulk. The drive mechanism is shown in the context of an open frame housing (which may be a single piece of molded plastic) having a downwardly extending handle. A plunger shaft is slidably supported in the housing for dispensing caulking composition, and a trigger is pivoted to the housing and retractable against the handle. The trigger includes an upper portion extending above the plunger shaft. A first gripping member encircles the plunger shaft forwardly of the trigger and protrudes downward for engagement with the trigger when the trigger is retracted. A first compression spring rearwardly biases the first gripping member, the first compression spring being formed with a forward constricted end having increasingly tighter helical coils to frictionally grip the plunger shaft.
