  • Patent number: 8312271
Abstract: Systems, apparatus and methods for privacy-protecting integrity attestation of a computing platform. An example method for privacy-protecting integrity attestation of a computing platform (P) has a trusted platform module (TPM), and comprises the following steps. First, the computing platform (P) receives configuration values (PCR1 . . . PCRn). Then, by means of the trusted platform module (TPM), a configuration value (PCRp) is determined which depends on the configuration of the computing platform (P). In a further step the configuration value (PCRp) is signed by means of the trusted platform module. Finally, in the event that the configuration value (PCRp) is one of the received configuration values (PCR1 . . . PCRn), the computing platform (P) proves to a verifier (V) that it knows the signature (sign(PCRp)) on one of the received configuration values (PCR1 . . . PCRn).

  • Patent number: 8271517
Abstract: A method, computer readable storage medium, computer program product and a service. A profile of a computer user is obtained that contains meta tags descriptive of the participants of a first social networking website. A second social networking website having meta tags is selected. A profile from the second social networking website is selected. The meta tags of the first and second social networking websites are compared to determine if there is a match of at least one meta tag. Then, a search is made for related websites having at least one meta tag that matches the at least one meta tag. A list of the related websites is then presented to the computer user.

  • Patent number: 8255221
Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for generating a web podcast interview that allows a single user to create his own multi-voices interview from his computer. The method allows the user to enter a set of questions from a text file using a text editor. (Answers may also be entered from a text file although this is not the more preferred embodiment.) For each question, the user may select one particular interviewer voice among a plurality of predefined interviewer voices, and by using a text-to-speech module in a text-to-speech server, each question is converted into an audio question having the selected interviewer voice. Then, the user preferably records answers to each audio question using a telephone. And a questions/answers sequence in a podcast compliant format is generated.

  • Patent number: 8078624
Abstract: Searching content of a portal. The portal includes at least one portal page having a plurality of portal content elements at least one of which is a secure portal content element wherein each of the portal content elements is a portion of a portal page. Each secure portal content element is associated with a unique identifier, wherein the unique identifier is a uniform resource locator and is different than a uniform resource locator for the portal page. Each secure portal content element is indexed by a keyword. Search parameters and credentials are received from a user, and a preliminary result set satisfying the search parameters is generated. For each secure portal content element in the preliminary result set, the credentials and the unique identifier are used to determine whether the user is permitted to access that secure portal content element. The preliminary result set is used to generate a final result set.

  • Patent number: 8024424
Abstract: The increasing number of Internet users and innovative new services such as e-commerce are placing new demands on Web servers. It is becoming essential for Web servers to provide performance isolation, have fast recovery times, and provide continuous service during overload at least to preferred customers. The invention describes a kernel-based architecture for content-aware service differentiation that protects Web servers against overload by controlling the amount and rate of work entering the system. We have invented a mechanism that provides admission control and service differentiation based on connection and application level information. The application header-based connection control uses application-level information (such as URIs and cookies for HTTP) to define different service differentiation actions. The present invention provides the kernel mechanisms that are more efficient and scalable than application level controls implemented in current Web servers.

  • Patent number: 7979578
Abstract: Method, system and computer readable program code for dynamic and evolutionary component placement in an event processing system having producers, consumers, a plurality of nodes between the producers and the consumers, and a flow graph representing operator components to be executed between the producers and the consumers. A description of a change to the system is received. At each node, next-hop neighbor nodes for each consumer are identified. A routing value is assigned to each next-hop neighbor node for each consumer and the routing values are updated according to an update rule that represents a chromosome in a routing probe. The update rule in a routing probe is selectively updated from a plurality of update rules at the consumer. The probability of selecting a particular update rule is reinforced or decayed based on the success of an update rule in allowing routing probes to create many different efficient routes.

  • Patent number: 7890883
Abstract: Digest screen display content deciding means selects display elements belonging to respective regions of a document based on display priorities of the display elements, which are obtained by digest screen display priority information creating means, and decides selected display elements as display content of a digest screen under a condition where a total display area does not exceed a required display area. A merging relationship among the regions is set based on layout information for the regions, created by digest screen region layout information creating means. Display content deciding means decides the display content of a detail screen based on the merging relationship among the regions, and creates a digest of the detail screen based on control information created by control information creating means. Moreover, digest screen display content changing means changes the display content of the digest screen in response to an operation of a user.

  • Patent number: 7583814
Abstract: A robust means of watermarking a digitized image with a highly random sequence of pixel brightness multipliers is presented. The random sequence is formed from ‘robust-watermarking-parameters’ selected and known only by the marker and/or the marking entity. A watermarking plane is generated which has an element array with one-to-one element correspondence to the pixels of the digitized image being marked. Each element of the watermarking plane is assigned a random value dependent upon a robust random sequence and a specified brightness modulation strength. The so generated watermarking plane is imparted onto the digitized image by multiplying the brightness value or values of each pixel by its corresponding element value in the watermarking plane. The resulting modified brightness values impart the random and relatively invisible watermark onto the digitized image. Brightness alteration is the essence of watermark imparting.
