  • Patent number: 7823756
Abstract: A container using a flexible membrane integrated into the throat or egress passageway of a bottle. The membrane forms a portion of the passageway's sidewall. The membrane flexes inward when an external force is applied causing the inner walls of the passageway to frictionally mate together and restrict the flow of a fluid or non-fluid through the passageway and flexes outward when the force is removed allowing the inner walls of the passageway to move away from one another and allow the flow of the fluid through the passageway.

  • Patent number: 7661737
Abstract: A pre-failure warning indicator is provided for use with a sling. The pre-failure warning indicator triggers at a point that is predictable within a relatively narrow range, thereby increasing the possibility that a damaged sling is removed from use. The pre-failure warning indicator includes a dedicated strand of material that is placed in close proximity to the load-bearing core yarns of the sling but remains separate and independent from the core yarns; the ends of the dedicated strand are connected via a sacrificial “ring.” A warning fiber having an end that is visible to operators/riggers works in conjunction with the sacrificial strand and the ring. The ring is designed to fail when the sling is subjected to a specifically chosen condition (e.g., excessive weight). The failure of the ring causes the warning fiber to withdraw from the rigger's view thereby warning the rigger that the sling was subjected to the specifically chosen condition and may be damaged.

  • Patent number: 7660102
Abstract: The invention relates to a bus bar block with a first bus bar and a second bus bar, each of which has an insulating enclosure, which is at least partially open on one side across from the base side, with, in each enclosure, at least one terminal bar being arranged on which several terminal lugs are arranged such that they protrude from the enclosure in sections through the at least partially open side, with the two bus bars being arranged on a holding device such that their base areas are facing each other, with the holding device for each terminal bar of one of the two bus bars having an electro-conductive connection element, which is designed such that it can be connected with a first end section using one of the terminal lugs of a terminal bar of the first bus bar and with a second end section using one of the terminal lugs of a terminal bar of the second bus bar and such that it makes a connection to a connection contact.

  • Patent number: 7654710
Abstract: The present invention is an improved emergency luminaire, which is recess-mounted flush within a wall or ceiling aperture, having an enclosure, a panel, a light source, a means for rotating the panel from the closed position to the open position and a means for rotating the panel from the open position to the closed position. The means for rotating the panel from the closed position to the open position includes a single-directional motor. Upon electrical power failure to the primary lighting source in the room, the single-directional drive motor is activated causing the panel to rotate 180 degrees from a closed position to an open position, thereby exposing the light source to view. Substantially simultaneously with the panel opening, power stored in batteries are connected to the light source, causing it to illuminate. When the primary electrical power is restored, the light source is extinguished and the single-directional drive motor is activated returning the panel to its closed position.

  • Patent number: 7568333
Abstract: An apparatus for manufacturing industrial slings which is especially adapted for making roundslings. The apparatus can make slings having one load-lifting core or multiple load-lifting cores. The apparatus has three primary sections, namely, a yarn feeder assembly, a control assembly and a tail section assembly. The sling-making apparatus may be left-handed or right-handed.

  • Patent number: 7428886
Abstract: An oscillating lever arm engine includes rigidly connected opposing pistons moved by a single lever connected to a rotating crankshaft. When applied to a two-cycle internal combustion engine, one piston may function as a pump piston and the second piston as a working piston which delivers power to the crankshaft through a connecting rod. When the pump piston is chosen to be of larger diameter, the volumetric efficiency of drawing in and providing the intake charge to the working piston may be increased. Furthermore, when poppet-type inlet and exhaust valves are used, valve timing may be selected so that the exhaust valve closes prior to the inlet valve closing while the pump piston is supplying an intake charge through a transfer duct to achieve a supercharging effect.

  • Patent number: 7029627
Abstract: A multiple-chamber container for sampling, storing and preserving for later testing a sample. A swab having a foam tip is used to collect a sample (the sample must have some liquid component, e.g., saliva, urine, blood, etc.). After the foam tip is used to collect a specimen, the swab is inserted into the container where the foam tip is compressed and a portion of the specimen that was sampled is diverted into each chamber. The swab is locked into the container thereby sealing the specimen inside. At least one test strip is positioned inside one of the chambers to test the sample. The sample in the other chamber(s) are separated and can be stored for a period of time. A preservative may be used to help keep the specimen during storage.
