Abstract: Systems and methods for providing recording as a network service are provided. A representative method incorporates: communicating instructions to a network, the instructions indicating that IP packets associated with a communication that is to be recorded are to be directed to long term storage such that the network: receives the instructions; determines whether Internet Protocol (IP) packets, which are being communicated by the network, are associated with a communication that is to be recorded; and directs information corresponding to the IP packets associated with the communication to a long term storage device.

Abstract: Systems and methods for capturing communication signals are provided. An exemplary method comprises the steps of: receiving communication signals of various types; determining whether to record the received communication signals; responsive to determining that the received communication signals are to be recorded, determining types of communication signals associated with the received communication signals; responsive to determining the types of communication signals, determining multiple interfaces that facilitate recording of the communication signals; and recording the communication signals via the corresponding multiple interfaces.

Abstract: Systems and methods for recording a communication session between a customer and an agent of a customer center communication system are provided. In this regard, a representative method comprises: communicating with the customer center communication system via a proxy server; determining whether to record a media stream associated with the communication session based on communication between the customer center communication system and the proxy server; and responsive to determining that the media stream is to be recorded, recording the media stream from the communication session.

Abstract: A weather briefing system that may be used in the cockpit to provide near real-time graphic and text weather information. Weather information and pilot reports are fed to the cockpit from, e.g., a satellite in geosynchronous orbit. Once delivered to the aircraft, the system processes the data stream and formats it for delivery to an end user device. The data is collected from an extensive network of sources. The end user device may be a portable electronic flight bag (EFB), panel-mounted display (MFD), or similar device programmed to display the formatted data. The system provides timely and accurate weather information to pilots of all types of aircraft. This information may be used for pre-flight planning and in-flight decision-making.

Abstract: Systems and methods for selecting, sequencing, and presenting traffic events to viewers. This may involve using a prioritizing scheme that estimates the proximity or relevance of the event to the viewers by associating the event with a geographic zone and the viewer with a localized service area served by a particular distribution points of the television content distribution system. In some cases, for each localized service area, zones are given priority values that are used when prioritizing the relevance of traffic events associated with those zones. For viewers in a given localized service area, a first zone may have a higher priority than a second zone, such that in prioritizing traffic events, events associated with the first zone are given a higher priority than events occurring in the second zone. Different zone priority schemes may be associated with a given localized service area at different times of day, week, or year.

Abstract: Method/system is disclosed for recovering computing capacity and critical applications after a catastrophic failure. The method/system involves distributing the computing capacity over multiple computing clusters, each computing cluster having concurrent access to shared data and software applications of other computing clusters. Sufficient backup computing capacity is reserved on each computing cluster to recover some or all active computing capacity on the other computing clusters. Message traffic throughout the computing clusters is monitored for indications of a catastrophic failure. Upon confirmation of a catastrophic failure at one computing cluster, the workloads of that computing cluster are transferred to the backup computing capacity of the other computing clusters. Software applications that have been designated for recovery are then brought up on the backup computing capacity of the other computing clusters.

Abstract: Methods are provided, a representative one of which involves: recording information associated with a communication; providing a graphical user interface, the graphical user interface being configured such that, responsive to a user input designating a portion of the communication, information recorded and corresponding to that portion of the communication is presented to the user; and displaying, via the graphical user interface, graphical indications of events occurring during the communication.

Abstract: A folding apparatus is provided for collecting, storing, and/or transporting various items, such as fallen leaves. According to various embodiments, the apparatus includes a tough tarp with a folding rigid outer frame and interlocking handles. The folding apparatus is adapted to allow a user to collect leaves and/or other items onto the tarp, and subsequent to folding or closing the apparatus, to store and/or transport these items.
