Abstract: A settling tank for dewatering a thin slurry is provided in a lined portable container and with a disposable filtering means. A novel method of processing the slurry by settlement of the solid phase and removal of the liquid phase in cycles avoids the clogging of the filtering means. The settling tank can be easily transported and dumped without requiring the transferring of residue sludge or the cleaning of equipment.
Abstract: The problem of reaching a work piece, such as a nut on a bolt, in a restricted space not permitting traditional means of applying torque is addressed with a powered wrench. The wrench translates motor power on one axis to an engageable socket on a perpendicular axis through an innovative gearbox. Means are provided to shift from a gear ratio for power to a gear ratio for speed by simple manipulation, while different size work pieces can be accommodated through socket change parts.
Abstract: A self-governing spray apparatus for irrigation or cleaning purposes is provided. A spray nozzle at the end of a moment arm and substantially perpendicular to an axis of rotation creates a reaction torque to distribute a spray by spinning. A hinged member thrust into the spray pattern a centrifugal force caused by the spin deflects a portion of the spray and results in a braking action. An equilibrium angular speed is thereby reached by a self-correcting mechanism.
Abstract: An adapter for mounting a vibrato device, such as a Bigsby Vibrato, to an electric guitar without making changes to the guitar body is provided herein. The vibrato device replaces the stop tailpiece leaving available mounting holes for the adapter. The vibrato device is then mounted to the adapter without the need to alter the guitar by drilling holes. The adapter locates the vibrato device on the guitar in a manner to maintain the critical bend angle of the guitar strings over the bridge. The adapter, with a minimalist profile, is barely visible when mounted. Alternative embodiments provide an adapter kit and a method for mounting the adapter.
Abstract: A suspension system for a tilting vehicular chassis based on more than three wheels separates a tilting component of the chassis from a non-tilting component. The non-tilting component provides a means for powering the vehicle with automotive-type engine and drive train options, while the tilting component provides the turning stability necessary for a narrower wheel base. The narrower wheel base benefits fuel economy. The multiplicity of wheels, and the breadth of platform thus enabled, permits shelter and comfort features for the occupant not otherwise available on a typical two-wheel chassis.
Abstract: A recirculating wastewater evapotranspiration and disinfection system is disclosed in which wastewater is collected, stored, aerated. and circulated through an unsaturated and optionally heated planter/filter bed containing soil microorganisms and living plants in which aerated wastewater is circulated and recirculated through the system until all of the wastewater and its constituents are utilized by any of evaporation, transpiration, gasification and living plant production and their by-products, or otherwise disinfected for reuse, while energy is gratuitously recovered in the process for productive use.
Abstract: Protective garments that can keep the front of the wearer's clothes clean and dry are provided. The bibs include a substantially overlapping slit formed in the center of a lower section of a front panel. The bibs with the slit are easy to put on and provide substantial coverage of frontal position of a wearer. The bibs can be used during eating, drinking, sitting, playing, crawling, etc. In some examples, the open back can enable the bib to be easily slipped on an already seated person without the need to stand. One or more bibs provide the ability to fasten the apron around each leg separately resulting in mobility and coverage, as well as the ability to use in seating where there is a vertical obstruction between the legs.
