  • Patent number: 5897162
Abstract: A child safety seat for a motor vehicle having an independent heating arrangement includes a seat body with a seat portion, a backrest portion and two side portions transverse to said seat and backrest portions. A child receiving recessed area is formed by the seat, backrest and side portions with an insulating padding disposed therein. An electrical heating element is substantially disposed between the insulating padding and a protective cover substantially extending about at least the seat and backrest portions, so that in operation a substantial portion of the child receiving recessed area is heated by the electrical heating element.

  • Patent number: 5875868
Abstract: An inflatable evacuation slide for an aircraft consists of first and second longitudinal support beams, upper and lower transverse support members and a flexible sliding support surface. The first and second longitudinal support members are spaced from each other and formed having proximal and distal ends thereof. The lower support member is transverse to the first and second longitudinal support beams and spaced from the distal ends thereof, so that each longitudinal support beam is formed having an extension portion extending between the lower support member and the distal ends thereof. The flexible sliding support surface is connected to and limited by at least the upper and lower support members.

  • Patent number: 5868731
Abstract: A laser surgical device for vaporization of a living tissue consists of an operating laser assembly, a detecting arrangement and a control unit. The operating laser assembly generates an operating beam having a predetermined wavelength corresponding to a peak absorption wavelength of water. The detecting arrangement is adopted for detecting a condition of an operated living tissue by receiving and reviewing a signal reflected from the operated living tissue so as to produce a control signal. The control unit controls characteristics of the operating beam based on the control signal, so that the depth of vaporization of the living tissue does not exceed 15-20 microns.

  • Patent number: 5792077
Abstract: A goniometer for measuring flexibility and extent of movement of members of a limb connected to a joint consists of first and second arms pivotally connected to each other and a feedback arrangement integrated into the arms. The feedback arrangement includes a generating unit for generating an operational beam, a reflecting unit for reflecting the operational beam, a receiving unit for receiving and analyzing the operational beam reflected from the reflecting unit, an adjustment unit for adjustment of an operational space. The operational space is defined by juxtaposition of the reflecting unit and adjustment unit, whereas an area and angular positioning of the operational space is indicative of the allowable range of movement of members of a limb and the arm elements. An alarm is provided for alarming a user when movement of the arms is not within the allowable range. The alarm is activated when the receiving unit is prevented from receiving the operational beam reflected from the reflecting unit.

  • Patent number: 5779735
Abstract: A knee unit for an above-knee prosthetic leg includes a piston arrangement, a valve arrangement and a bladder arrangement for achieving swing and stance control of the prosthetic leg. For swing control the piston arrangement displaces a fluid through the valve arrangement to compress the bladder arrangement for storing the energy required to drive an extension cycle of the prosthetic leg and to provide bias and flexion resistance for the knee unit. For stance control the valve arrangement is such that when weight is applied to the heel of a prosthetic foot at various stages of the gait cycle of the prosthetic leg, the knee unit is permitted to flex or is prevented from flexing via compression of the bladder to provide stability during the various phases of the gait cycle.

  • Patent number: 5737951
Abstract: A device facilitating turning a key in a keyhole of a lock consists of an elongated housing having distal and proximal ends. A receiving, unrestricted opening is formed within a housing and extends between the distal and proximal ends substantially along a longitudinal axis of the housing. At least one key is pivotally arranged at the proximal end of the housing. In operation, the key is transverse to the housing and the key is turned in the keyhole of the lock by a force applied to the housing. An area of application of this turning force is distributed along and restricted by the receiving opening.

  • Patent number: 5681067
Abstract: Plunger arrangements are used for retaining glass/screen inserts in frames. A plurality of caps are disposed around the insert and are disposed in one position for extending a spring biased plunger to engage the frame. The caps are disposed in an other position against the spring bias to retract the plunger from the frame. The arrangement is such that the cap remains in the other position without being held thereat by a user, whereby the user's hands are free to manipulate the insert in or out of the frame.

  • Patent number: 5681267
Abstract: An arrangement for adjustably joining/separating an orthotic device to/from an exterior part of human body consists of a receiving component, a base and a proximal component. The receiving component is mounted to an exterior part of human body. The base is slidably received within the receiving component. The proximal component is movable within the base in such a manner that the proximal component is linearly and rotationally adjustable about the receiving component. The proximal component is formed having a connecting element and a locking unit for locking the proximal component at a predetermined position thereof regarding the receiving component and the base.

  • Patent number: 5593609
Abstract: A mixing device for a microwave oven consists of upper and lower elements. A multiplicity of bearing members is provided therebetween. Each of these elements is formed with at least one surface and a plurality of individual separated from each other bearing cups. Each bearing cup has a limited receiving area for receiving the corresponding bearing member. Each receiving area is larger than the largest outside periphery of the corresponding bearing member. In an assembled condition of the mixing device, the surfaces of the upper and lower elements face each other so that the receiving areas of the upper element are substantially aligned with the corresponding receiving areas of the lower element forming a plurality of bearing couples. Each bearing couple accommodates free movement of the corresponding bearing element. Upon rotation of the driving rod, the upper element undergoes orbital motion relative to the lower element.
