Patent number: 5792000Abstract: Analysis of a golfer's swing is effected by the golfer's swinging a club which has sensors fixed to the club shaft in such manner as to sense torsion of the shaft and flexing of the shaft in a direction corresponding to the direction of the swing pattern and perpendicular to the swing path. At selected times during the swing when the torsional and flexing forces are at predetermined values, a camera is activated to photograph the golfer in the position he or she occupies at the instant each photograph is taken. The golfer then is enabled to see the position of his or her head, shoulders, hips, legs, arms, and hands at the time of each photograph and an instructor is enabled to concentrate on instructional drills that will result in improving the golfer's swing.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 1996Date of Patent: August 11, 1998Assignee: SCI Golf Inc.Inventors: Leo L. Patent number: 5755250Abstract: A manifold valve assembly for use in a smoke/pollution detection system in which gas is drawn from a plurality of zones under surveillance and delivered to a smoke/pollution detector. The assembly has a manifold provided with a plurality of inlet ports communicating with the zones and an outlet communicating with the detector. A valve within the housing is reciprocable between a first position in which the outlet communicates with all of said inlet ports and a second position in which only one of said inlet ports communicates with the outlet. The valve is rotated incrementally in response to its reciprocation to enable each of the inlet ports to communicate with the outlet successively.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 1994Date of Patent: May 26, 1998Assignee: I.E.I. Patent number: 5754423Abstract: The invention relates to the preparation of a material mixture consisting of a plurality of mineral raw material components which are delivered individually proportioned, are ground and homogenised, wherein samples are periodically analysed and determined ACTUAL values are compared with predetermined DESIRED values in order if appropriate to carry out corrective control interventions on the proportioning of raw material components by way of a laboratory computer. In relatively short time periods evaluations of the material samples and re-homogenisation of the ground mixture can be carried out very reliably with relatively low expenditure on construction if the material samples are analysed on the spot by means of a rapid analysis arrangement and the determined ACTUAL values from this analysis are passed to the laboratory computer, the homogenisation being carried out in a mixing zone with relatively small receiving capacity which is separated from the storage zone.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 1996Date of Patent: May 19, 1998Assignee: Krupp Polysius AGInventors: Josef Teutenberg, Werner Brosowski

Patent number: 5749683Abstract: A conventional dry van trailer is modified to include a recessed bulkhead at the back of the trailer having a material inlet that communicates on its exterior side with a flexible fill tube and on its interior side with a rigid distribution conduit. The distribution conduit extends along the top wall of the trailer to an open free end near the front of the trailer. A bottom-opening distribution slot extends from the open free end of the conduit rearwardly along a substantial length of the trailer. The fill tube is connected to a grinder/blower unit which delivers a high velocity flow of ground plastic scrap into the tube and conduit is discharged therefrom through the open end and distribution slot of the conduit in a manner to fill the trailer from front to back. A two-stage coarse/fine filter permits air to escape from the trailer while retaining the solid material.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1996Date of Patent: May 12, 1998Assignee: Northern Logistics, L.L.C.Inventor: Thomas R. Patent number: 5727825Abstract: Latch assembly for securing vehicle doors and other closures such as boot lids or tail gates co-acts with a conventional striker releasably retained by a pivoted claw or other catch mechanism to hold the striker in a mouth of the assembly. A displaceable jaw or, preferably, pair of opposing jaws conveniently form part of a unitary sub-assembly including a yoke connecting inner ends of the jaws which is displaceable inwardly of the mouth. The jaws have wedging surfaces that co-act with corresponding wedging surfaces of a latch body to provide laterally inward wedging action as the jaws are carried inwardly by the striker for positive non-rattle location of the latter. A resilient buffer may be provided which is compressed by the striker at the closed position.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 1996Date of Patent: March 17, 1998Assignee: Rockwell Light Vehicle Systems (UK) Ltd.Inventor: Nigel Victor Spurr

Patent number: 5724871Abstract: A wire stripping tool (FIG. 1) has outer jaws 12, 18 which can be closed together by levers 10, 16 acting via a link 24. Inner jaws 34, 36 are so closed to cut the wire sheath, and then actuator 32 is displaced left to right to move the inner cutting jaws and displace the cut sheath along the wire core. The actuator has a solely linear movement, being guided by roller 14 and pin 42, whilst jaw closing and subsequent re-opening to complete the cycle of operations is carried out by cam plate 28 which is pivoted on the actuator and to the link. Lost motion is provided at two places in the actuator by pin 38 in slot 39 and pin 26 in slot 30.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 1997Date of Patent: March 10, 1998Assignee: Ross Courtney LimitedInventor: Jonathan Richard Wall

Patent number: 5715687Abstract: A double layer cooler for particulate material has a conveyor to which separate streams of such material are delivered at spaced intervals to form lower and upper layers of material on the conveyor. As the layers move toward the discharge end of the conveyor a coolant passes upwardly through the layers. At the discharge end of the conveyor the material of the lower layer is discharged, whereas the material of the upper layer passes over a stationary quantity of material to a crusher in which the upper layer material is crushed. From the crusher material is returned to that stream which forms the lower layer on the conveyor. The lower layer of material thus is precooled and comminuted.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 1995Date of Patent: February 10, 1998Assignee: Krupp-Polysius AGInventors: Bernd Nienaber, Hermann Niemerg, Gunter Driemeier

Patent number: 5713525Abstract: A horizontal comminuting machine for reducing recyclable waste wood and other comminutable material which may have non-reducible foreign objects incorporated with it has a generally horizontal rotary drum mounting a plurality of peripherally spaced communinuting tools traveling in a continuous work contacting path. A feed works delivers material forwardly to the rotating drum in a longitudinal feed stream and to a lead anvil which, under undue operating pressure, withdraws from an operative position adjacent the path of the tools to a removed position. An anvil confining assembly on the machine frame controls the travel of the anvil. Rearwardly of the lead anvil, individual anvils are mounted to cooperate with the tools to further reduce the material.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 1995Date of Patent: February 3, 1998Assignee: Wood Technology, Inc.Inventor: Norval K. Patent number: 5701121Abstract: A transducer and interrogator device is disclosed in which the interrogator provides power and information to the transducer via a magnetic field. The transducer is a passive actuator device that includes an inductive pickup coil that, when subjected to the interrogator's magnetic field, powers the passive actuator and an external electrical device. The magnetic field produced by the interrogator can be modulated in such a manner as to provide identification, commands, or other information to the passive actuator without substantially reducing the power transferred to the passive actuator. Modulation can be by amplitude, phase, frequency, pulse width, or pulse position. An antiphase magnetic field can also be generated to cancel far field radiation. The passive actuator can include a logic circuit to demodulate any received data from the interrogator via the magnetic field, which data can be used to control the operation of the external device.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 1994Date of Patent: December 23, 1997Assignees: Uniscan Ltd., Magellan Technology Pty.
