  • Patent number: 7461507
Abstract: Turbochargers of this invention comprise a turbine housing and a turbine wheel rotatably disposed therein. A center housing is connected to the turbine housing, and a compressor housing is attached to the center housing. A compressor is rotatably disposed within the compressor housing, and comprises two impellers placed in back-to-back orientation. A movable member is disposed within the compressor housing to downstream of the compressor to control the flow of air within the compressor housing. The position of the movable member can be operated to control the amount of pressurized air that is produced by one of the compressor impellers to provide enhanced compressor operating efficiency throughout the operating range and mass flow requirements of the engine.

  • Patent number: 7458724
Abstract: An exemplary center housing for a turbocharger includes a bore for supporting a turbocharger shaft, a lubricant feed port, a first lubricant outlet port, a second lubricant outlet port and a valve operably disposed to provide a first path from the lubricant feed port to the first lubricant outlet port and a second path from the lubricant feed port to the second lubricant outlet port wherein the valve responds to pressure generated by axial movement of the turbocharger shaft to increase resistance of the first path or the second path. Various other exemplary mechanisms are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7415878
Abstract: An exemplary method for balancing a rotating assembly of a turbocharger, where the rotating assembly includes a shaft rotatably supported by a bearing cartridge, includes loading the rotating assembly to introduce a tilt between the rotational axis of an inner race of the bearing cartridge and a bore axis of an outer race of the bearing cartridge, rotating the inner race with respect to the outer race at a rotational speed less than approximately 5,000 rpm while maintaining the tilt at substantially constant angle and measuring dynamic unbalance of the rotating assembly. Various other exemplary devices, systems, methods, etc., are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6976037
Abstract: Methods, systems and data structure are described for implementing local isolated DLL and/or COM components. A version of a shared component is stored in a local directory with an application that uses that particular version. Another version of the shared component exists on the system and is useable by any number of other computer programs. A local file is created in the local directory that indicates the presence of an isolated version of the shared component. When the application calls the shared component, the system uses the isolated version of the shared component stored locally with the application program. Thus, specific versions of components may be provided to a calling application without making any code changes to the calling application or to the Component to which the calling application is bound.
