  • Patent number: 4792875
Abstract: A gimbals spring for supporting a floating type magnetic head has bent portions formed at both lateral edges of a load beam of the gimbals spring, the bent portions projecting in a direction in which the magnetic head projects from the load beam. A reinforcing plate is secured to the reverse side of the distal end portion of the load beam with respect to the magnetic head in order to make compensation for the strength of said distal end portion which is weakened due to the fact that the bent portions cannot extend as far as the distal end portion of the load beam because of the existence of the magnetic head. Thus, the bent portions do not take part in determination of the overall thickness of the magnetic head including the gimbals spring, which means that it is possible to reduce the thickness of the floating type magnetic head and minimize the size of the magnetic disk drive.

  • Patent number: 4781481
Abstract: A thermal printer includes a single thermal recording medium interposed between printing paper and a thermal head so that when predetermined energy is applied to the thermal head, colorant on the thermal recording medium is transferred to the paper to print out a desired letter or symbol, or alternatively the printed letter or symbol is removed and erased from the paper because the colorant once transferred to the paper is attached to the colorant on the thermal recording medium. A printing method using the thermal printer is characterized in originally setting printing energy and erasing energy the latter of which is equal to or larger than the former, applying the printing energy to the thermal recording medium to effect printing operation, and applying the erasing energy to the thermal recording medium to attach it to the printed letter or symbol on the paper to remove and erase it from the paper.

  • Patent number: 4780014
Abstract: A paper feeding controlling method for a printer in which a record paper is first fed in a feeding direction until a leading end portion of the record paper reaches a recording position. In this position, the record paper will be printed for a first print line and then line spaced to allow subsequent printing for a next print line. When the end of the record paper advances farther than a paper bail roller after printing for several lines involving line spacing operations in this manner, the record paper is now fed reversely by a predetermined distance until the leading end of the record paper comes to a position forwardly of the paper bail roller in the feeding direction. Then, the paper bail roller is moved away from the platen, and the record paper is advanced by the predetermined distance with or without an addition of one line space distance. Finally, the paper bail roller is moved toward the platen until the record paper is held between the platen and the paper bail roller, and printing will be resumed.

  • Patent number: 4771170
Abstract: An optical coordinate input device wherein there is no possibility of operation in error or of destruction of a light receiving element and a correct coordinate signal can be produced even if external light of a high intensity acts upon the light receiving element. The device comprises light amount adjusting means of the transmissive type located in front of light receiving elements, and controlling means for controlling the amount of light to be passed through the light amount adjusting means in response to an amount of light incident to the light receiving elements. Thus, if there is the possibility that an output value of the light receiving elements may reach a saturation condition due to external light of a high intensity, the light transmittivity of the light amount adjusting means is lowered to decrease the amount of external light to be received the light receiving elements.
