Abstract: A system for determining the magnitude or value of the VSWR of an RF transmission system is disclosed. A VSWR value is preselected, and the ratio of reflected voltage to forward voltage for the system for a preselected VSWR is determined. The ratio is multiplied by the absolute value of the measured instantaneous forward RF voltage, giving a predicted value for the actual reflected voltage. The reflected voltage is measured, and the predicted and actual values are compared. The actual VSWR bears the same relationship to the predetermined VSWR that the actual reflected voltage bears to the predicted reflected voltage. To determine the actual value of the VSWR, a counter which contains the preselected VSWR value is incremented or decremented as a result of the comparison until the difference changes sign. The predetermined VSWR employed for the final comparison, which value is still stored in the counter, is sent to the display circuit, as the actual VSWR.
Abstract: A rosin bag - type dispenser and a powder - form gripping composition therefor are disclosed. The gripping composition comprises a particular inorganic oxide in admixture with an astringent. The particulate inorganic oxide which is present as the major component of the admixture is suitably a low bulk density oxide such as fumed silica, alumina or titania. The astringent is preferably aluminum chlorohydrate.

Abstract: A measurement and control system including a digital computer, a digital to analog converter for providing an analog data signal from digital data from the computer, a command sample and hold for holding the data analog signal as a control command signal, a measure sample and hold for holding an analog input signal indicative of a preselected variable, a measure comparator for comparing a series of analog outputs of the digital to analog with the held analog input and providing the comparison to the computer which calculates a measurement of the variable as a function of the comparisons. The output of the command sample and hold may be the system output or a command comparator may compare the output of the command sample and hold and the analog input to provide a system output signal.
Abstract: A continuous flow, non-flooding gravimetric belt feeder is disclosed which may be used to convey fluid-like particulate material. The feeder includes an endless belt having spaced, transversely mounted cleats. A lateral wall is provided adjacent each of the opposed sides of the cleats and extending between adjacent cleats, thereby preventing the fluid-like particulate material from flowing along the belt, and thereby enabling the feeder to discharge the material at a steady, pre-set rate.
Abstract: The door handle of a heating unit is cooled by providing a duct traversing the interior of the handle from exterior of the firebox of the heating unit to the interior of the firebox. The induced flow cools the handle and provides cool air in the firebox to trap and maintain the hot gasses closer to the fire for a more complete combustion. An open, ellipsoid, spiral coil surrounds the grip of the handle.
