  • Patent number: 8065331
Abstract: A system and method for managing the access of individuals to an information infrastructure is described. The metaphor for the user interface may be “myIntranet”, suggesting that the functions are similar to that of a browser of a client connected to the world-wide-web (WWW) through the Internet. The home page of “myIntranet” may be customized at a plurality of organizational levels within a medical facility, so as to provide rapid access to information that a person needs to perform a particular job responsibility. Each person may have a unique home page, or the home page may be customized, in part, by the user. Other portions of the home page may be customized by the department, the information technology organization, or other user with the appropriate permission. The configuration of the home page is associated with the individual user through a log-on procedure.

  • Patent number: 8061368
Abstract: The invention is directed to a pony tail holder including a friction member for more effectively engaging the strands of hair in the pony tail to prevent slippage of the pony tail holder during use. The pony tail holder may include a fabric ring having an annular area at least a portion of which comprises a tubular annulus around a central hole in which a pony tail is to be gripped by the pony tail holder, and an elastic core disposed within the tubular annulus of the fabric ring and extending around the central hole. The pony tail holder may further include a friction member woven into the fabric ring proximate an inner edge of the fabric ring such that at least a portion of the friction member is exposed through the outer surface of the fabric ring and engages the pony tail when the pony tail holder is disposed thereon, with the coefficient of friction of the friction member being greater than the coefficient of friction of the outer surface of the fabric ring.

  • Patent number: 8056921
Abstract: A stroller has a frame structure with two laterally spaced apart sides and a frame extension on each side. Each frame extension projects rearward and terminates at a free end. The frame structure is collapsible laterally from a side-to-side in-use spacing between the frame extensions to a side-to-side compact spacing less than the in-use spacing between the frame extensions. A push handle is on the free end of each frame extension. A cross-brace extends between and interconnects the frame extensions. The cross-brace has a central section and a pair of flanking sections pivotally connected to one another. The cross brace is selectively reconfigurable from a stiff condition to a loose condition with the frame extensions in the in-use spacing. The stiff condition maintains the in-use spacing between the frame extensions and the loose condition permits the frame extensions to collapse to the compact spacing.

  • Patent number: 8055567
Abstract: A system and method for analyzing correlation between the assets given by the trader for collateral and that trader's open positions is disclosed. Thus, if the collateral is correlated to the trader's open positions, then some offset can be given. If there is no correlation than the collateral is valued in the conventional way. For example, if a trader provides t-bills as collateral for an account that has open positions (e.g. short futures) in T-bills, than that trader's account can be credited with some offset since the value of T-bills and T-bill futures are highly correlated.

  • Patent number: 8051414
Abstract: A system is provided comprising first, second, and third servers, a medical device, and a database storing a plurality of software updates for various medical devices. The second server stores software update history for medical devices located in a plurality of countries, and the third server is located in a country and stores software update history for medical devices located in that country. A request for a software update for a medical device is sent from the first server to the second server. The second server sends a command to the database, and the database sends the software update to the medical device. After an attempt has been made to install the software update in the medical device, the software update history for the medical device is automatically updated in the second and third servers.

  • Patent number: 8041985
Abstract: Fault tolerant operation is disclosed for a primary match server of a financial exchange using an active copy-cat instance, a.k.a. backup match server, that mirrors operations in the primary match server, but only after those operations have successfully completed in the primary match server. Fault tolerant logic monitors inputs and outputs of the primary match server and gates those inputs to the backup match server once a given input has been processed. The outputs of the backup match server are then compared with the outputs of the primary match server to ensure correct operation. The disclosed embodiments further relate to fault tolerant failover mechanism allowing the backup match server to take over for the primary match server in a fault situation wherein the primary and backup match servers are loosely coupled, i.e. they need not be aware that they are operating in a fault tolerant environment.

  • Patent number: 8029377
Abstract: A child motion device includes a frame that provides a structural support relative to a reference surface and that includes an arm pivotably coupled to the structural support. A child supporting device is coupled to the arm and spaced from the reference surface by the frame. A drive system is configured to move the arm such that the child supporting device reciprocates along a motion path at a frequency within a range from about 0.37 Hz to about 0.62 Hz. In some cases, a further drive system is configured to oscillate the child supporting device generally along the axis of rotation at a frequency in a range from about 2.85 Hz to about 3.15 Hz.

  • Patent number: 8025441
Abstract: A movement system for a C-arm. The movement system comprises at least one first guide element arranged in a plane, a movement device arranged to allow movement along the first guide element as well as a first motion link rotatable around a first axis of rotation standing at right angles to the plane. The movement device is connected rotatably to the first motion link to a second axis of rotation standing at right angles to the plane such that a movement of the movement device along the first guide element causes the second axis of rotation to be moved on a circular track around the first axis of rotation. The advantage of this is that the arm is prevented from jamming as a result of leverages during movement of a C-arm.

  • Patent number: 8023732
Abstract: A method is provided for accelerating non-rigid image registration, using parallel processors. To that end, on a commercially available graphics card, a block-matching algorithm is implemented, which, by histogram-based similarity standards, calculates the motion vectors for individual blocks. All the blocks are processed simultaneously and individually. The complete motion vector field is obtained by bilinear interpolation. Optimized search methods, such as conjugate direction searching, are employed. The algorithm terminates once the optimal displacement has been found for all the blocks. The registration is done completely on the graphics card. The algorithm is fully automatic, precise, and fast. The program may be employed for instance in registration for digital subtraction angiography.

  • Patent number: 8019367
Abstract: A method and system allow a mobile subscriber to block reception of mobile terminated (MT) Short Message System (SMS) messages yet still have the ability to send outgoing mobile originated SMS messages. The method and system include determining whether a MT SMS feature setting is enabled or disabled at an SMS layer of a protocol stack of the mobile device and transmitting a mobile device registration message to a mobile network service center as SMS capable or incapable, depending on the MT SMS feature setting. The mobile device may be registered as SMS incapable by setting certain fields within information elements of registration messages. If a MT SMS message is received and the MT SMS feature setting is disabled, then the SMS layer may increment a blocked message counter and transmit a failure message to the service center. The service center may be included in a base station of the mobile network.

  • Patent number: 8011828
Abstract: A shoulder joint is provided. The shoulder joint includes a main support; a fold-out arm including an upper arm and a lower arm, the upper arm operable to pivot about a pin and the lower arm operable to pivot on a spindle on one end of the upper arm; and a first wheel attached to the pin, and a second wheel attached to the spindle. The upper arm and the lower arm are mechanically linked via the two wheels in such a way that rotation of the upper arm about the pin cause rotation of the second wheel and the lower arm relative to the upper arm, resulting in a bending or straightening of the arm.
