Abstract: A roofing system and shingle for a roof having sides and an apex is provided. A stripping is attached to the roof near the apex of the roof. A first shingle is attached to the stripping. A panel has a top edge, a bottom edge, a first side edge and a second side edge, wherein the top edge is positioned along the stripping. A bottom flange is attached to and extends along at least a portion of the bottom edge. A plate is attached to the bottom flange distal to the panel. An upper side flange is attached to and extends along at least a portion of the first side edge. A lower side flange is attached to and extends along at least a portion of the second side edge.In accord with another aspect of the invention, a shingle for a roof is provided. A panel has a having a bottom edge, a first side edge and a second side edge. An upper side flange is integrally formed with and extends along at least a portion of the first side edge.

Abstract: An apparatus for simulating stair climbing is provided which allows selection of step height. A side member is pivotally mounted to a base and oriented at a selected angle with respect to the base. A displacement mechanism mounted to the base is attached to the side member for rotating the side member with respect to the base. A series of platforms travel in a selected platform path including traveling along the side member. The top surface of each platform is a predetermined horizontal distance from the top surface of an adjacent platform which corresponds to the selected angle.An apparatus for exercising the muscles of a user is also provided. A frame has a first side and a second side. A first chain loop is disposed on the first side, at least a portion of the first chain moving at a selected angle with respect to the frame. A second chain loop disposed at the second side, at least a portion of the second chain moving at the selected angle with respect to the frame.

Abstract: A heat exchanger fin remover includes a first hollow cylindrically shaped member having a closed end and an open end. The closed end is provided with a centrally disposed portion including a centrally disposed threaded aperture adapted to be received by a rotary source of power. The first member open end is provided with an annular cutting ring portion disposed of the distal edge thereof. A second cylindrically-shaped member has a first end and second end adapted to be received within the first hollow cylindrically-shaped member open end. A threaded centrally disposed extending portion is adapted to be received by and cooperate with the first member centrally disposed threaded aperture when the second member is inserted into the first member. The second member other end extends beyond the cutting ring portion disposed on the distal edge of the first member.

Abstract: A wind protection mechanism on a barrier netting installation with sections of vertical poles 25 to 100 high set in ground along a line supported by guy wires to the ground with a horizontal top cable on which the polypropylene netting is draped and attached, with protection improvements including a section of chain link fencing with ends attached to the poles a top edge attached to the lower edge of the netting leaving the lower edge to the fencing to lift off the ground in high winds, and providing horizontal wind lines on one side of the netting and cross wind lines on the other side, and providing the intermediate poles with brackets that allow the horizontal lines to hang so as move horizontally in the wind.

Abstract: A sanitary napkin that includes an elongate liquid-absorbent main pad body shaped to fit between a woman's thighs, an upper cover to promote flow to the body, a bottom cover to prevent flow out the bottom of the body, a vertical raised elongate pad section extending upwardly to an upper convex arcuate edge to extend between the labia of a woman but not into the woman's vagina, and wicking material extending from the raised elongate pad section to the main pad body to promote flow from the raised section to the main pad body.

Abstract: A security improved credit, debit, pass, or cash card is a colorless and transparent semirigid plastic card member with non reflective faces, with no permanent imprinting on the card member to visually identify an issuer, an owner or a card number, but with temporary identification that can be removed by the owner of the card and can be visually read only when backed by an opaque sheet. The card has a bending line across a face of the card member that is a slit through the card with a hinge of flexible plastic film attached over the slit. The card has an opening cut through the card member to allow a person's finger nail to engage the opening to pull the card from a wallet or to attach the card on a shirt button.

Abstract: A vehicle brake light device and system for use with a vehicle having a brake light assembly including a lens and a source of illumination directed toward the lens. The device comprises a background lens having a reverse side facing the source of illumination. The background lens transmits light emitted from the source of illumination towards an observer and includes at least one template of a predetermined shape. At least one indicia is included that has an obverse side also facing the observer and a reverse side facing the source of illumination. The indicia is also capable of transmitting light toward the observer. The indicia each have a predetermined shape corresponding to a template wherein the indicia are mounted within a corresponding template. The indicia are intended to convey a message to the observer when the device is in an active state. A seal is preferably mounted between the indicia and its corresponding template to provide a water tight seal therebetween.

Abstract: A beach carry-all cart device is provided with a cloth bag extending upwardly from a base member which rides on a cylindrical wheel. The bag is unsupported except for a sleeve around a handle member which extends vertically to a handle grip into which a vertical slot is cut to receive cloth handles extending from the upper edge of the bag. Vertical zippers are provided along opposite side walls to expose the interior contents which typically are one or more beach chairs and other items.

Abstract: A device to clean or apply a balm to a person's back includes a rigid base panel fastened to a wall with suction cups on a shower wall. The device includes a foam panel covered PVC sheet which in turn is covered with a plastic netting to reduce the sliding friction with an overall cover. The device may include a spinal scrubber between the cover and the netting of vertical row of semirigid block members attached to a panel all encased in foam and sealed film. Foam balm applicators may be attached on the cover either in netting pockets or with cotton balls attached on the foam applicators.

Abstract: A locking mechanism includes a lock cylinder cam urging a split link between which a drive pin engages a generally horizontal slot in an actuator member limited to rectilinear movement with a horizontal pin riding in a vertical slot and engaged in a radial slot in a swinging lock bolt. The split link posts ride in ninety degree arcuate slots with straight horizontal and vertical escape sections at the ends of the slots. Sliding brackets hold a choice of lock cylinders including the slim line types.

Abstract: An automatic stirring apparatus for stirring food simmering on a stove, such as gravy in a cooking vessel with a peripheral upper edge including a vertical rotating drive shaft driven through gears by an electric motor in a housing supported on the upper edge of the vessel with a stirring device on a lower end of the shaft that includes lengths of chain connected elements extending horizontally in opposite directions from the shaft, the elements allowing full upward vertical rotational movement of each element of the chain while preventing all horizontal movement of each element allowing a lower surface of the chain to conform to any cooking surface in the vessel.

Abstract: A tick removing device includes an upwardly angled fixed front end section with a V-shaped notch opening to the front with two blunt points. A bottom surface of the front end is slid along the skin of the host toward the embedded tick with a slight pressure sliding the opening of the V-shaped notch past the tick until the narrowing edges of the V-shaped notch contact the tick's body lifting the tick away from the flesh. The device includes a cup or a sticky patch to catch the removed tick.

Abstract: A cutting device to cross cut through an elongate rigid polymeric plastic foam panel member to produce a beveled end to produce depth matting for framing pictures, the device having a base platform with a horizontal support surface to support the panel member on a lengthwise edge, a vertical wall with a vertical slot angled horizontally at a forty-five degree angle extending through the vertical wall and downwardly through the support surface, a slide member guided in a vertical direction to which a knife is attached extending through the vertical slot to a knife guide to provide horizontal support for the blade, and a lever to move the slide member up and down to force the knife to cut the panel member.
