  • Patent number: 4807795
Abstract: A bimetallic shaped-charge liner is formed by explosively bonding two metal disks and then shear-forming the bonded disks simultaneously into a conoidal shape over a mandrel. An exemplary method for manufacturing a ductile, bimetallic, shaped-charge liner comprises the steps of explosively bonding a plate of one metal to a plate of another metal; annealing the bonded plates; cuting forming blanks from the bonded, annealed plates; shear-forming the blanks with the light metal side outward into a conoidal shape over a mandrel; and then annealing the resulting conoid.

  • Patent number: 4589153
Abstract: A combination spark plug gapping tool which has the capability of opening or closing the spark plug gap on a variety of aircraft, industrial, or automotive spark plugs. The single tool may be used with side electrode designs containing up to three electrodes, including both stud and wire electrode types. Also included is a sight gauge hole for visual checks of the center electrode, and a pointed end for scraping carbon. One end of the tool contains an offset two-pronged slotted fork which is sized to reach around the center electrode to open the gap by raising two side electrodes at a time. When turned over, the two offset prongs reach around the electrode being set and bear against the inner plug wall, thereby permitting gap closure by pushing. A center slot on the edge of the tool is used to adjust side wire electrodes.

  • Patent number: 4490917
Abstract: A vehicle docking aid is disclosed in which a docking indicator is suspended by cord means attached to the door or wall of a garage. Intermediate hooking means are provided to raise the indicator out of the way when the garage is empty and the door is up. When hooked to the top of the garage door, the indicator is automatically disengaged when the door is lowered and the indicator thus returns to its normal position.

  • Patent number: 4461703
Abstract: An aeration device for use in a swimming pool system wherein a pump draws water from a lower portion of a body of water through a filter and returns it to the body of water via a return conduit, and comprises a tubular aeration member positioned adjacent to a conduit to the pump, and extending above the water line, thus to admix atmospheric air with water drawn by the pump via the conduit from the lower portion of the body of water. A flexible hose preferably extends into the body of water and is connected with the pump via a return conduit, and the hose is moved about and supported under the action of aerated water passing therethrough to spread aerated water through the body of water.

  • Patent number: 4452246
Abstract: A surgical instrument is provided which has independent capabilities of operating as a surgical needleholder for suturing operations, and as a surgical cutting device for severing the suture thread. The instrument of the invention may be operated as a conventional needleholder and, to that end, it has a pair of jaws in which a suture needle may be securely held for the suturing operation, and it also has a usual clasp mechanism for locking the jaws in their closed position. However, in accordance with the concepts of the invention, one of the arms of the instrument is split into two co-extensive elongated sections, both being pivoted at the pivot point of the instrument. The distal end of the first section is formed into one of the jaws of the instrument, and that arm functions with the other arm of the instrument to perform the conventional needle holding function.

  • Patent number: 4443010
Abstract: A game for evaluation and development of various psychic abilities between its participants. Objects are furnished which include bi-valued dimensional attributes, such as rough-smooth, solid-hollow, or heads-tails. A player concentrates on a chosen attribute and attempts to either transmit, receive, block, predict, or influence a given valued condition. A gameboard is provided on which a player's successes are marked by position of his player-piece or counter on the board. Counter positions are marked with the chance probability of reaching a given position from a start position in a given number of moves. Board layout is such that if the incidence of successes is greater than that expected by random chance alone, counters are moved toward another player, thereby establishing a higher degree of psychic connectivity.

  • Patent number: 4431038
Abstract: A holder for a combined electric eraser-pencil sharpener which causes the sharpener to be actuated upon insertion of the pencil. A using draftsperson thus obtains the benefits of a separate fixed sharpener and avoids picking up and using the hand-held combined eraser-sharpener. The holding device comprises an open-ended cup structure containing a supporting spring. As the electric eraser-pencil sharpener being supported is moved under pencil insertion forces, switch actuation means activate the sharpener by depressing the motor switch.

  • Patent number: 4428837
Abstract: This invention provides an improved apparatus for the treatment of water to reduce the formation of scale in those mechanical devices that employ water and to enhance the service ability of liquids in other applications through the use of magnetic circuitry which maximizes the effectiveness of the magnetic flux upon fluids. The circuitry includes flat-ring true permanent magnets, collector disks with tapered transmission points, set air gaps and threaded concentrator cores. This invention makes it possible to tailor magnet spacing to meet a wide range of velocity and flow rate requirements through the use of flux separators of varying sizes and the interchangeability of the inner core.

  • Patent number: 4424018
Abstract: An improved device for safer lighting of gas or candle fires. The device comprises a flexible tube connected to a hand-held body member, through which a wick is passed. The soft metal tube may be bent into compound angles to ease access of the lighter to the fuel source in difficult to light applications, such as hot water heaters. An end cap on the body member may be configured for candle snuffing use, or may be replaced by a length extension member.
