  • Patent number: 7570993
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for treatment of a victim to reverse cardiac arrest by chest compression and by electrical defibrillation through electrodes applied to the chest area of the victim. The apparatus includes a dielectric layer which is placed on the victim to electrically isolate the rescuer who is performing chest compressions. The protective sheet includes a layer of electrically conductive material sandwiched between two dielectric layers to electrically isolate the rescuer. The sandwiched conductive layer is connected to a location on the body of the victim that is spaced a plurality of inches from each of the electrodes.

  • Patent number: 7568589
Abstract: A food container formed from plastic, can be loaded with food and then closed by a clerk, and thereafter cannot be opened without tearing apart first sides (24, 26) of the base (12) and lid (16). The container is formed by a single sheet of plastic that forms a base and lid with second sides (20, 22) that are latched together and with adjacent first sides that are joined by a joint line (30) in the plastic that is creased and that has slits (40). At the joint line, the lid has a projecting lid tab (32) and the base has a projecting base tab (36). A person grasps both tabs, and lifts only the lid tab to tear apart the first sides of the base and lid along the joint line (30). Thereafter, the lid can be easily closed and reopened on the base.

  • Patent number: 7567837
Abstract: A method is provided for analyzing the condition of a patient to determine whether or not a defibrillation shock should be applied, without stopping CPR (primarily chest compressions). While chest compressions continue to be applied to the victim, the system differentiates between (1) a perfusing rhythm that has the capability of leading to a beating heart without a shock and (2) ventricular fibrillation (VF) which sometimes occurs in the presence of ventricular tachycardia (VT), in which there is no capability for leading to a beating heart without a shock. Defibrillation shocks should be applied only when needed and that is in the presence of VF and sometimes in the presence of VT.

  • Patent number: 7509919
Abstract: An installation vessel has upper and lower decks (40, 50) that are vertically spaced about 3 meters apart, with most of the lower deck covered by the upper one, but with a rear portion (60) of the lower deck being uncovered. The upper deck is used primarily for storage, while the lower deck is the one used for installation of anchor chains, wires, ropes, etc. that pass from a winch (81) to a stern roller (84) at the rear of the lower deck, so dangerous conditions of chains, wires, ropes, etc. moving along a deck during installation are confined to the lower deck. A main crane (72) that lies on one side of the vessel, lies forward of the rear end of the upper deck at a location wherein the crane can reach all portions of the uncovered lower deck portion and most of the upper deck.

  • Patent number: 7479609
Abstract: A snap action switch (12) which includes an M-type actuator having an actuation location that can be depressed to cause a middle contact to snap up against an upper contact, and which can be released to cause the middle contact to snap down against a lower contact, which enables adjustment of the position at which the middle contact snaps against a selected one of the upper and lower contacts. The adjustment of a snap position of the actuation location is accomplished by raising or lowering the position of one of the upper or lower contacts.

  • Patent number: 7373986
Abstract: A riser connector connects the upper portion of a riser (12) having a latching enlargement (32) to a receptacle (14) on a vessel (16), so the riser upper end (22) can connect to a fluid coupling (42) leading to a conduit (40) on the vessel. A double-click mechanism (88), with parts on the enlargement and on the receptacle, turns a load ring on the enlargement to latch the enlargement in place when it is lifted to an upper position and lowered to a latched position, and releases it by again lifting and lowering. A cable coupling (24) is temporarily mounted on the top of the riser to enable the riser to be lifted by a cable (26), the cable coupling being later removed to connect the riser upper end to the fluid coupling on the vessel.

  • Patent number: 7353951
Abstract: A container (10) that is formed of sheet plastic that has been deformed, includes a base (12) having a plurality of egg-receiving recesses (20) and a cover (14) that can be latched closed on the base. The cover has a plurality of latch parts (30) spaced along each side and has a plurality of outwardly deformed chimney parts between the latch parts, that form chimneys (70) for ventilation of the eggs. Each egg-receiving recess in the base, has inclined ribs (62) that limit sideward egg movement and allow air circulation, has a recess bottom wall (66) for supporting the bottom of an egg, and has an air circulation region (64) lying between the recess bottom wall and rib bottoms for allowing the movement of air around the lower portion of the egg. The outer portion of the ventilation region forms legs (68) that support the container on a flat surface while holding the recess bottom above that flat surface.
