Abstract: Process for the vacuum coating of an extruded material, particularly animal food, in which the extruded material is coated with a flowable coating material during a vacuum phase and under reduced pressure, characterized in that the extruded material, during the vacuum phase, is initially dried and then coated with the coating material.
Abstract: An optical projection type display apparatus wherein the first MLA forming the integrator optical system is arranged integrally at the light emitting part of the reflecting and condensing mirror so as to function as a surface plate so that the distance between the effective reflecting part of the reflecting and condensing mirror and the first MLA can be shortened. In addition, being formed integral to function as a surface plate of the reflecting and condensing mirror, the number of optical elements is reduced by one.
Abstract: A method for opening prefabricated pouches for the subsequent filling thereof with each pouch having a circumferential seal and an opening zone comprising holding a pouch on a support and introducing the support with the pouch into a vacuum chamber which has a first opening facing the opening zone of the pouch connected to the environment and a second opening remote from the opening zone, suctioning air from the vacuum chamber through the second opening with a volume flow adequate to produce a vacuum to open the pouch and moving the support with the opened pouch out of the vacuum chamber and apparatus therefor.
Abstract: A roller skate of the in-line wheel type where all wheels are mounted for rotation in the normal skating directions has at least one wheel mounted for rotation about an axis perpendicular to the skating directions. An internal brake is provided to progressively retard the rotation about the axis perpendicular to the skating directions to provide a braking mechanism so the skater can stop by executing what is known as a hockey stop.
Abstract: A mirror tilt mechanism is provided for tilting a mirror assembly to a predetermined angle with respect to a vertical axis of the wall surface upon a relatively minor force being placed on the bottom portion of the mirror assembly. This mirror tilt mechanism includes a bracket member for mounting the mirror tilt mechanism to the wall surface and an arm member for engaging the mirror assembly to be tilted. This arm member is pivotally mounted to the bracket member such that the arm member is pivotally movable between a first position, wherein the mirror is supported in a generally vertical orientation with respect to the vertical axis of the wall surface, and a second position, wherein the mirror is supported at a predetermined angle with respect to the vertical angle of the wall surface such that the mirror is angled generally downwardly. In this manner, the mirror is "accessible" for use by handicapped individuals.
Abstract: A hand operated hydraulic brake system includes a manual, lever operated master cylinder control which transfers hydraulic pressure from the master control to one or more hydraulic slave actuating cylinders. The system transfers force through the use of rolling diaphragms in a completely sealed hydraulic containment system. Actuated by the lever, the applied force is transmitted through a hydraulic line, or lines against piston rams to force brake pads against a rim, disk or other braking surface of a wheel.
Abstract: A multiple pack of individually packaged items comprises an array of individual packages in a desired configuration which array is held in the desired configuration by a planar sheet material adhered to each package of the array. The planar sheet material is preferably a sheet of corrugated cardboard. The invention also includes a method of forming the multiple pack and apparatus for use.
Abstract: 47 kD and 31 kD proteins, and their 67 kD expression precursor, believed to be the source of peptide flavour precursors in cocoa (Theobroma cacao) have been identified. Genes coding for them have been probed, identified and sequenced, and recombinant proteins have been synthesised.

Abstract: A box-shaped carton having additional rectilinear corners for holding a plurality of glassware articles, which has increase vertical and/or horizontal stiffness for storing and stacking purposes. The carton includes at least five side panels to form at least one additional flat edge from the increased rectilinear corners for displaying printed material about the stored articles. The carton also can be folded into a sleeve when fully glued together. A blank for forming the carton is also provided.

Abstract: An edible product having a thin inorganic coating on at least a portion of its surface. The coating preferably forms a moisture/oxygen barrier to result in a coated edible product having an improved shelf-life. The edible products include foods and pharmaceuticals. The inorganic materials used for the coating include SiO.sub.2, SiO, MgO, CaO, TiO.sub.2, ZnO and MnO. Processes and apparatuses for depositing a thin film of inorganic material onto an edible substrate are also disclosed. The preferred processes include sputtering and vapor deposition. The preferred apparatus provides for the continuous production of coated edible products.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method and products for establishing nutrient recognition and improving nutrient utilization and growth in a human or an animal by immunologically stimulating digestion or a gastric cascade within the gastrointestinal tract, by orally or parenterally immunizing the human or animal with an immunizing effective amount of an ingestible antigen or a mixture of ingestible antigens and orally reintroducing the antigen(s). Another aspect of the invention provides a method and products for preventing and treating gastrointestinal disease by immunologically stimulating a gastric cascade, namely, blood flow, production of mucus and release of digestion regulatory factors within the gastrointestinal tract of a human or an animal, by orally or parenterally immunizing the human or the animal with an immunizing effective amount of an ingestible antigen or a mixture of ingestible antigens and orally reintroducing the antigen(s).
