    Abstract: A tin (IV) oxide nanopowder essentially free of byproducts and consisting of crystalline particles that have rutile crystalline structure is produced in bulk quantities by an inexpensive process of a chemical reaction of either a tin chloride of tin sulfate in an ionic melt of alkali metal nitrates followed by cooling, leaching with distilled water, and a thermal treatment. The nanopowder exhibits electrical conductivity substantially independent from its temperature in wide range of temperatures. Devices and coatings including the nanopowder are also disclosed.
