  • Patent number: 8349015
Abstract: A system for spinal surgery includes a prosthesis comprising a plurality of bone anchors which engage an intervertebral construct for fusion or motion preservation. The fusion construct comprises a spacer optionally encircled by a jacket. The motion preservation construct may comprise an articulating disc assembly or an elastomeric disc assembly. Any of the constructs may occupy the intervertebral disc space between adjacent vertebrae after removal of an intervertebral disc. The anchors slidingly engage the construct to securely fix the prosthesis to the vertebrae. The anchors and jacket of the fusion construct provide a continuous load path across opposite sides of the prosthesis so as to resist antagonistic motions of the spine.

  • Patent number: 8347768
Abstract: A screw driver for a screw having a drive socket having an axially extending shaft with a bifurcated tip, the tip having a cross-sectional profile for insertion into a cross-sectional profile of the screw socket. The shaft has a tapered section adjacent the bifurcated tip. A bushing is mounted on an outer surface of the shaft for axial movement therealong. The bushing has inwardly extending protrusions for engaging the tapered section on the shaft upon movement in the axial direction along the shaft in a direction. away from the tip. This allows the selective capture or release of the screw by the shaft tip by axial movement of the bushing away from and towards the shaft distal tip.

  • Patent number: 8351620
Abstract: The present invention can adjust a volume of a sound on the basis of sound signals to suit a user's preference. The present invention arbitrarily sets movement settable control values application range DR2 for a plurality of continuous preamp control values PD from a desired minimum preamp control value PD to a desired maximum preamp control value PD against a group of preamp control available values PDS. Thus, the present invention can control gains so as to compensate external sound signals with different signal levels supplied from external input terminal OI for difference of signal level according to the external sound signal or can control gains in a predetermined range according to the signal level so that the volume of the external sound on the basis of the external sound signals can be arbitrarily adjusted in a range between a desired minimum value and a desired maximum value. In this manner, a volume of a sound on the basis of an external sound signal can be adjusted.
