  • Patent number: 8343388
Abstract: Disclosed are an electrode having a porous active coating layer, a manufacturing method thereof and an electrochemical device containing the same. The electrode having a porous active coating layer according to the present invention may be useful to enhance peeling and scratch resistances of the porous active layer and improve a lamination characteristic toward the porous active layer by introducing a porous active layer onto a porous substrate having pores, the porous active layer having heterogeneity of morphology toward a thickness direction in which a content ratio of the binder polymer/inorganic particles present in a surface layer is higher than that of the binder polymer/inorganic particles present inside the surface layer. Accordingly, the stability and performances of the battery can be improved at the same time since the detachment of the inorganic particles from the porous active layer may be reduced during the assembly process of the electrochemical device.

  • Patent number: 8346064
Abstract: On a recording medium, there are recorded content files and an index file. The index file is constituted by attribute information of the content files (title text data, thumbnail-image data or the like). In the case of changing (recording or deleting) the content file, the index file is updated after the change. A computer sets up, in a nonvolatile memory, status information indicative of being in a predetermined process stage, during the predetermined process stage from a start of changing the content file to a termination of updating the index file. The computer, at turning on power, determines the matching/mismatching between the content and index files recorded on the recording medium utilizing the status information, thus repairing the index file as required.

  • Patent number: 8347083
Abstract: Secure cross-frame communication between frames in a web browser may be achieved using encryption. The communication may occur between frames that pass messages to one another via an untrusted, and potentially malicious, intermediary. To prevent an intermediary from reading the content of messages, frames may agree on and use a shared secret encryption key to encrypt messages. This key may be created by passing tokens between frames that want to securely communicate.

  • Patent number: 8344246
Abstract: Aspects of the invention pertain to cooling bundles of power distribution cables or other current carrying cables. Such cables give off heat, especially when carrying high current loads. One or more cooling members are used to secure multiple cables. The cables may be placed about a generally circular shaped member which has a central opening. Receptacles are placed along an outer perimeter of the cooling member to secure the cables. The thickness of each cooling member may vary. When multiple cooling members are used, they may be spaced at least 6 inches apart. The cooling members may be fabricated from a nonconductive material such as PVC.

  • Patent number: 8347093
Abstract: Aspects of the invention pertain to preserving the privacy of users in on-line systems while also enabling verification that the users are who they purport to be. Confidential personal information may be communicated from a user to a trusted third party via a web-based application or other service. However, the personal information is encrypted so that the application or service is unable to access it. The trusted third party accesses the personal information and uses it to verify that a user ID such as an email address is associated with a particular user. This information is provided to the web-based application or service to certify the identity of the user. As a result, the application or server verifies to other users that the certified user is who he/she purports to be.

  • Patent number: 8343162
Abstract: An intervertebral distraction tool has a clamshell head with upper and lower halves, each having a curvate outer surface and a flat inner surface. The distal side of the head is hinged so that the head opens and closes from the proximal side of the head. The hinge is a separating hinge that allows the halves to not only angulate with respect to one another about the hinge axis, but also to vertically separate from one another at the hinge. A distraction separator has decreasing taper at its distal end and a longitudinal bore that accommodates the elongate shaft of the trial so that the separator can be moved longitudinally relative to the shaft. Upon forward movement of the separator, the tapered upper and lower surfaces engage the flat inner surfaces of the head, causing the halves to angulate about the hinge axis of the head, thereby opening the head.
