  • Patent number: 6631850
Abstract: A track for a toy vehicle is provided. The inventive track includes at least one end segment, either male or female, and at least one middle segment. The middle segment is pivotably attachable to at least one of the male and female segments. A middle segment can have teeth on both ends, tooth-receiving cavities on both ends, or a set of teeth on one end and a cavity on the other. The teeth of one segment are selectively engageable with the edges of a cavity of an adjacent segment. When teeth engage a cavity, one segment is fixedly angled with respect to the other segment. By repeating this pivotably angled structure between a number of segments, the curvature of the track can be altered to the taste and specifications of the user.

  • Patent number: 6621073
Abstract: A Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometer (TOF-MS) is configured to improve resolution and sensitivity performance. The TOF-MS includes an arrangement of electrodes comprising an ion accelerator with two stages of homogeneous electric fields, an ion reflector with a single stage of a homogeneous electric field, accelerator and reflector being separated by a first drift space, and an ion detector which is separated from the reflector by a second drift space. Contrary to known TOF-MS of similar configuration, the set of electric potentials which must be applied to said electrodes is predetermined for a given geometry in such a way that a spatial distribution of ions initially at rest in the first gap of the said accelerator is compressed at the location of the detector in the longitudinal direction to a focus of first and second order in the initial axial coordinate.

  • Patent number: 6609611
Abstract: A device for conveying insulating glass panes, which are slightly inclined from the perpendicular, is provided with a horizontal conveyor (2) on which the insulating glass panes stand, and with a supporting device (150), which extends above and parallel to the horizontal conveyor (2). The supporting device (15) defines by one or more supporting elements a pane movement plan (16) against which rest the insulating glass panes of the horizontal conveyor (2). The horizontal conveyor (2) has two parallel and synchronously drivable conveying elements (7,8), supporting surfaces (10,11), which are aligned substantially vertical to the pane movement plane (16). The distance of one of the conveying elements (7,8) from the other conveying elements (8,7) is variable. The conveying elements (7,8) are movable independently of one another transverse to the pane movement plane (16).

  • Patent number: 6600155
Abstract: A Time-Of-Flight mass spectrometer (1) is configured with a pulsing region (10) and electronic controls to cause the directing of ions to a surface (12) in the Time-Of-Flight pulsing region (10). The population of ions resulting from the collecting of said ions on or near said surface (12) is subsequently accelerated into the Time-Of-Flight tube (17) for mass to charge analysis. Ions produced away from said surface (12) can be directed to the surface (12) with high or low surface collisional energies. Higher energy ion collisions with the surface (12) can result in Surface Induced Dissociation fragmentation and the resulting ion fragment population can be mass analyzed. Mass analysis can be performed prior to directing the ions to the surface allowing MS/MS Time-Of-Flight mass analysis with SID.

  • Patent number: 6575464
Abstract: A method and apparatus for playing a casino card game for one or more wagering players betting with or against the “house” or casino comprising three card stud poker in which the player(s) seek a high hand, ideally either, at least, a pair of 3s or better, and in increasing desirability, a flush, a straight, 3 of a kind, a straight flush or royal flush from one or more shuffled standard playing card deck(s) (52 playing cards per deck). The wagering aspect of the game involves each player placing two mandatory bets, one wager on the possibility of the three card deal to the player showing a pair of “Threes or Better” and one wager on whether the “Player” or the “House” will be dealt the ranked, superior 3 card stud poker hand. In addition, optional wagers may be placed by each player, all before any cards are dealt, on the possibility of a tie game, i.e.

  • Patent number: 6573494
Abstract: A single or multiple layer curved Electrospray sample introduction means has been configured in an Atmospheric Pressure Ion (API) source interfaced to a mass analyzer. Sample solutions introduced through curved or bent sample introduction Electrospray (ES) probes configured in an API source are sprayed from the ES probe tip at an angle which differs from centerline of the ES probe body. Single or multiple curved ES probes can be configured in an Atmospheric Pressure Ion source interfaced to mass analyzers. Curved ES probes can also be configured in an API source which includes Atmospheric Pressure Chemical ionization.

  • Patent number: 6553751
Abstract: A chain link for intertwining with other chain links to form a jewelry chain is machine formed by contouring the outer periphery of the link without any reduction in material volume while the link thickness is being compressed and reduced. The outer periphery is preferably machine contoured into an octagonal shape and the link is substantially flattened on all sides such that a cross-section taken through the contoured link is preferably substantially rectangular.

  • Patent number: 6541768
Abstract: Multiple sample introduction means have been configured in Atmospheric Pressure Ion sources which are interfaced to mass analyzers. Different samples can be introduced through multiple Electrospray (ES) or Atmospheric Pressure Chemical Ionization (APCI) probes individually or simultaneously and ionized. The gas phase ion mixture resulting from individual solutions sprayed from multiple ES or APCI probe inputs is mass analyzed. In this manner a calibration solution can be introduced through one ES or APCI probe while one or more sample solutions are spray from additional probes. Simultaneous spraying of calibration and sample solutions, results in an acquired mass spectrum containing peaks of ions with known molecular weights as well as sample related peaks. The calibration peaks can be used as an internal calibration standard during data analysis.

  • Patent number: 6539988
Abstract: A dispensing adapter for connecting pressurized containers to other valved systems such as automobile air conditioners is provided. The housing has a dispensing end, a receiving end, and an interior volume communicating between the dispensing end and the receiving end. The receiving end sealingly engages a first valve of a pressurized container, and the dispensing end sealingly engages a second valve such as a service port of an automobile air conditioner. A reciprocatable core depressor is disposed inside the housing. When dispensing end is attached to the service port, the core depressor is moved toward the receiving end of the housing, and the proximal end of the core depressor engages a stem of the first valve and opens the first valve. The housing may be angled or straight, and the core depressor may have a piercing pin to open puncture valve containers.

  • Patent number: 6533756
Abstract: A single-use syringe having a barrel and a plunger is provided. The plunger at least one vane, and the vane is provided with serrations or ratchet teeth. The serrations each have a vertical rear wall and a sloped top edge. A barbed clip is provided that fits on the serrated vane. The barbs on the clip engage the inner wall of the barrel. When the plunger is initially withdrawn, the barbs of the clip engage the inner wall of the barrel and the clip remains in position with respect to the barrel. Because the tops of the serrations are sloped, the ridged/serrated vane of the plunger passes easily under the clip. When the plunger is re-inserted into the barrel, the clip engages one of the vertical rear walls of the serrations and moves along with the plunger deeper into the barrel. If one attempts to re-retract the plunger, the distal wall of the plunger strikes the clip, and the clip is immobilized because the barbs engage the inner wall of the barrel.
