  • Patent number: 7378093
Abstract: The present invention features antibodies and antibody fragments that specifically bind a CD4-inducible HIV gp120 epitope that is enhanced by binding a co-receptor for HIV, such as CCR5 or CXCR4, and pharmaceutical compositions comprising the antibodies or antibody fragments. The invention also features nucleic acids encoding the antibodies or antibody fragments, pharmaceutical compositions comprising the nucleic acids encoding the antibodies or antibody fragments, vectors comprising the nucleic acids, and cells comprising the vectors. The invention further features methods of identifying antibodies or antibody fragments with broadly neutralizing activity against HIV. The invention also features methods of inhibiting HIV entry into cells and methods of inhibiting replication of HIV in mammals, using the antibodies and nucleic acids of the invention.

  • Patent number: 6765944
Abstract: A semiconductor laser device includes a stacked structure. The stacked structure includes a first electrode, a substrate of a first conductivity type on the first electrode, a first cladding layer of the first conductivity type, an active layer, a second cladding layer of a second conductivity type opposite the first conductivity type, an insulating layer, and a second electrode. The second cladding layer includes at least first and second portions having thickness different from each other. The first portion is thicker than the second portion. The insulating layer is deposited on the second cladding layer but not on the first portion. The second electrode is electrically connected to the first portion. A product of a reciprocal of layer thickness and heat conductivity of the insulating layer is smaller than 4×108 W/(m2K).

  • Patent number: 5713336
Abstract: A multipoint fuel delivery system for an internal combustion engine includes fuel metering device(s) such as fuel injector(s) associated for selectively controlled injection of the second fuel to corresponding combustion chamber(s) of the internal combustion engine. A fuel supply manifold associates with fuel injector(s) for directing the second fuel to each fuel injector. An intake port adaptor mechanism adapts the intake port of the associated combustion chamber to receive the selectively controlled injection of the fuel from an associated fuel injector. The intake port adaptor mechanism may also engage the intake port so as to permit selective flow of the first fuel or the second fuel to the intake port of the selected combustion chamber. A control mechanism selectively controls the flow of the second fuel through each injector(s).
