Abstract: A two-pole electric motor constructions are described which have stator winding encircling the rotor, and the method is described of assembling same. A main stator section is provided with coil bearing surfaces which receive rotor coils after the rotor has been inserted into the rotor receiving opening, the coils being moved into overlapping relationship with the rotor and limited in movement or aligned by a stop or limit projection between the coil bearing surfaces. The main stator sections are secured either by the use of U-shaped upper and lower yokes, or rectangular yoke sections to fix the positions of the stator coils, and the rotors are mounted for rotation but against axial movement by the means of suitable brackets or stand-off or spacing members.

Abstract: A method of applying a protective coating to the inner surface of a pipeline includes the steps of adhering a porous flexible hose to the pipeline inner surface, an end of the hose of which is turned inside out and attached to the pipeline. The hose is moved inside the pipeline by progressively turning it inside out and pressing it to the inner surface of the pipeline by providing an excess pressure in a cavity formed by the portion of the hose turned inside out, and producing a counter-pressure before the hose as the same travels lengthwise of the pipeline. The magnitude of the counter-pressure is maintained at a predetermined level in the course of the hose travel. A piston having a passage for the hose is placed in the cavity formed by the portion of the hose turned inside out, and a binder is placed between the piston and the portion of the hose turned inside out. The binder soaks through the pores of the hose to facilitate the formation of a bond between the hose and the inner surface of the pipeline.

Abstract: The end turn portions of the saddle-shaped coils of a superconducting field winding in the rotor of an electric machine are clamped in an axial direction by a wedge device positioned in an annular recess between its wall and the nearest end turn portion. The wedge device comprises two rings mounted coaxially with the recess and having their sides facing each other bevelled so that the distance therebetween increases toward the axis of the rings. These sides are provided with radial depressions. Bolts with heads tapering toward the threaded portions are positioned in the depressions. When the bolts are radially shifted the rings are forced apart thus pressing the end turn portions one to another and to the wall of the recess.

Formed inside the shrouding cylinder, in the support structure, is a ring header communicating with the cooling ducts for the superconducting winding. In the internal cavity of the support structure is a trough for feeding the coolant communicating with the ring header in the large tooth area by means of radial holes spaced apart along the rotor axis, which receive heat-conductors with ducts for transferring the coolant from the trough to the ring header. On the periphery of the support structure, in the portion or sector of the support structure tooth, is formed a recess communicating with the ring header and having mounted therein other heat-conducting members extending in the radial direction and thermally insulated both from the support structure and from the heat-conductors.
