Abstract: Wave power plant consisting of frame carrying at least two paddles unit, capable of moving successively in series, when driven by progressive waves and returning by the gravitation power and the backward wave's force. The plant has an appropriate means with at least one crankshaft mechanism for transferring the successive motion of paddle units in two ways into electric energy. Each of the paddles units have a rod, to be submerged into the sea and which is secured on the frame with possibility for pivoting with respect thereof, the lower extremity of the rod is terminated by a paddle plate and the paddles units are arranged around the frame in series. The energy consumed successfully by each paddle unit is equal to the energy of the paddle's movement forward from the forward wave's force plus the energy of the paddle's movement backward from the backward wave's force and the paddle's gravity. The plant's energy is consumed, in at least one hydraulic engine, which rotate generators.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a newly-designed computer case with an optical disk drive mounted on a chassis front, in which an optical disk drive such as a compact disk player (CDP), a digital video disk player (DVDP) and the like is mounted on a chassis front the computer case so as to reduce the front and rear width of the computer case to a size corresponding to the front and rear length of the optical disk drive, to facilitate the use of the optical disk drive, and to improve the image of the product with a unique design.
Abstract: An air propulsion device for laterally stabilizing a motorcycle in an upright position when stopped. The device includes a substantially rectangular shaped plate having a top, bottom, first and second opposing sides. A pair of brackets are mounted to the first and second sides of the plate for attaching the device to the motorcycle. An air-flow generator unit is integrally attached to the top of the plate for generating and controlling pneumatic pressure within the air propulsion device, and has a first and second hose attached thereto. A skirting is integrally attached to the bottom of the plate for inflating and deflating.
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for performing pushups thereupon. It includes a foot supporter coupled via a connecting means to a hand supporter. The foot supporter has front and back pieces pivotably coupled at a join via a double axle coupled by a short connector and a foot support bar comprising a crosspiece and support legs attached thereto. Therefore, the height of the crosspiece above said surface may be varied between a lowered position and a raised position. This device is compact and portable and is used for performing more effective push-ups.
Abstract: An addressable lighting device and control system uses a user-actuable infrared or radio frequency operated remote control(s) to selectively or collectively generate an electronic address for the addressable lighting device on which the device will respond to all future signals from the remote control corresponding to that electronic address. The addressable lighting device has a programming mode for setting the address and a working mode for receiving control signals on the set address and correspondingly setting the desired intensity level of light. The addressable device may have the address set and changed locally (manually) or remotely using the remote control to switch modes, thereby avoiding the problems, expenses and mistakes associated with using dual in-line package (DIP) switches, binary, hex rotary switches, or thumbwheel switches normally used to set each one of the system's unit's unique address.

Abstract: The present invention is a portable orthotic system that performs predefined or user-controlled limb movements, collects data regarding limb movement, performs data analysis and displays representations of the data and data analysis results in real time, and modifies current operational parameters based upon such data so as to optimize the rehabilitative process performed by the system.
Abstract: A spin filtering device has: a spin filter (1) having an input region (3) for carrying an electron current, an output region (4) for carrying an electron current, and a three-dimensionally confined quantum region (2a) arranged to operate in the Coulomb blockade regime and separating the input and output regions (3 and 4) whereby electrons can only pass from the input region to the output region by tunnelling through the quantum region; and Zeeman splitting means (5) for causing Zeeman splitting in the spin filter, the quantum region (2a) and input and output regions (3 and 4) being formed such that the Zeeman splitting in the input and output regions (3 and 4) is less than the Fermi energy such that, in operation, the spin filter outputs a tunnelling current predominantly of one spin polarity. The direction of Zeeman splitting may be controlled to control the predominant spin polarity.

Abstract: Disclosed relates to a method and an apparatus for converting gradation data for a color STN-LCD, capable of providing color moving pictures of excellent quality. The apparatus includes a storage buffer 31 for storing input data for driving the LCD, and a frame memory 32 for storing gradation data for driving the LCD panel. A data conversion unit 33 converts gradation data stored in the storage buffer 140 based on the gradation data stored in the frame memory, i.e., previous gradation data that was used for driving the LCD. The data conversion unit 33 subtracts the gradation data stored in the frame memory 32 from the input data stored in the storage buffer 31, multiplies the subtracted result by a predetermined factor to generate a correction value, and adds the correction value to the previous gradation data to generate new gradation data. The generated gradation data is stored in the frame memory 32 as new gradation data.
Abstract: An optical guide switching assembly in which steering devices are used to assembly deflect radiation from a transmitting guide to a selected receiving guide. Each of the steering devices includes a collimator for light emerging from the transmitting guide and an actuator to cause relative movement between the collimator and the guide to cause the deflection, or to move the guide and collimator together. The actuator can be piezoelectric and of either a foil type, or a monolithic type, and mechanical leverage can be used to improve deflection. Capacitive sensing means provide positional information for feedback control, preferably in a diagonal switching arrangement.

Abstract: The present invention is an anti-theft system for the surveillance of computers and high-risk electrical and electronic equipment. This system is based on activating an internal transmitter contained in the stolen equipment. In the case of stationary equipment the activation of the transmitter is carried out by the external power supply being disconnected. In the case of mobile equipment, the transmitter/transceiver is activated by an external power supply disconnection, in addition to a software command with password or remote control. The transmitter then emits encoded signals that are received by a receiver and causes the activation of an alarm system located at the checkpoint.

Abstract: The disclosure herein provides a two-wheel bicycle system wherein a pair of long levers are arranged on the cross-beam of the frame, to provide the fulcrum for the motion of the levers. The tops of the levers comprise handles perpendicular to such levers, with linkages to a circular and rotatable crank, which rotates in a plane parallel to the ground about a column commonly found in the steering mechanism for such a bicycle. The bottom ends of the levers connect to linking members to connect such levers to the pedals commonly found in such a bicycle. Such linking members are provided so that they are disconnected and then rotatable to be mounted on the diagonal frame piece of the bicycle, when the bicycle is used with hand-operated steering and foot-operated power. Before disconnection, only upper body energy is used to control both steering and powering the bicycle.
