Patent number: 7180087Abstract: A spin filtering device has: a spin filter (1) having an input region (3) for carrying an electron current, an output region (4) for carrying an electron current, and a three-dimensionally confined quantum region (2a) arranged to operate in the Coulomb blockade regime and separating the input and output regions (3 and 4) whereby electrons can only pass from the input region to the output region by tunnelling through the quantum region; and Zeeman splitting means (5) for causing Zeeman splitting in the spin filter, the quantum region (2a) and input and output regions (3 and 4) being formed such that the Zeeman splitting in the input and output regions (3 and 4) is less than the Fermi energy such that, in operation, the spin filter outputs a tunnelling current predominantly of one spin polarity. The direction of Zeeman splitting may be controlled to control the predominant spin polarity.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 2000Date of Patent: February 20, 2007Assignee: ETeCH AGInventors: Daniel Loss, Patrik Recher, Eugene V Sukhorukov

Patent number: 6308780Abstract: Run into a well, e.g., in a tube, on a pipe string is a hydromechanical cleaner. The bridge is washed out by the direct desending flow of drilling mud pumped through the pipe string 2. The cleaner is moved downward as the bridge is washed out by moving the pipe string. Ascending flow of drilling mud rotates cleaning heads in opposite directions. Cutting knives of the cleaning heads mechanically remove deposits from the walls of tubing 1. Deposits from the walls are removed mechanically during running of the cleaner into the well and during its lifting from the well. Products of the washed out bridge and deposits are removed from the well by an ascending flow through the side branch pipe of the wellhead circulating head. The device for embodiment of the method includes also a mechanism for moving the pipe string and a pump unit.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 1993Date of Patent: October 30, 2001Inventor: Alexei Alexeevich Efimkin

Patent number: 6151902Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method for making artificial snow wherein a snow-inducing agent is injected into the water of a snow-making system along with a particulate for increased snow-making capabilities and a higher quality of snow The snow-inducing agent is a compound being a sulfate with a C.sub.8-16 carbon chain alcohol. Preferably, the compound is sodium myreth sulfate. The snow-inducing agent places tiny micro millimeter size air "bubbles" within the water molecules thereby stretching the molecules. The particles then mix in the wall of the water molecules causing the droplet to be hollow. The thin outer wall containing the particulate acts as a nucleating agent to start the freezing process. The molecule is less dense causing a faster transfer of latent heat combined with sensible heat.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 1998Date of Patent: November 28, 2000Inventor: Charles F. Stenlake, Jr.

Patent number: 5464915Abstract: In a method of preparing styrene plastics, the water medium containing tricalcium phosphate is prepared in situ (0.15 to 1.5 wt. %). Then, calcium carbonate (0.07 to 0.35 wt. %) is heated and dispersed therein. Thereafter, the monomer/comonomers/prepolymer, and secondary sodium alkylsulphates (0.001 to 0.020 wt. %) are introduced into the suspension polymerization process at 15 to 47% conversion. This method permits production of styrene plastics using a common technology, while providing specified bead size distribution, low concentration of dust fractions, and enhancement of the process stability.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 1993Date of Patent: November 7, 1995Assignees: Plastpolymer Share Holding Company, Angarsk Oil Chemical Share Holding CompanyInventors: Galina D. Patent number: 5449396Abstract: A pulp with ph=9.5 to 11.5, resin, and cyanide KCN is fed to a reaction zone. KCN is in a concentration of CN.sup.- ions in the liquid phase of the pulp from about 0.1 to about 10 g/l, which is maintained constant. The sorbent is in an amount providing its concentration 1 to 1.5% of the reaction zone volume. The leaching procedure produces a sorbent with impurities and rich in gold and silver, and a cyanic pulp depleted of gold and silver. Then, the sorbent rich in gold and silver is separated from the cyanic pulp. The saturated sorbent with impurities is processed in the desorption zone in two stages by passing therethrough a sulfuric acid solution of thiourea, the volume of the solution comprising 10 to 15 volumes of said sorbent. The sulfuric acid solution of thiourea is in an amount of 30% to 50% of said solution volume. A sulfuric acid solution of thiourea rich in gold and silver and a sorbent depleted of gold, silver and impurities is obtained.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 1994Date of Patent: September 12, 1995Inventors: Boris N. Patent number: 5437884Abstract: This process is used to remove the bones and joints from duck feet and to process the duck feet to make them edible. Initially, the duck feet are frozen for one or two days and are then thawed. After slow cooking for fifteen minutes, the duck feet are soaked in cold water for twenty minutes. After refrigerating for two hours, the bones and joints of the feet are removed. For about five minutes, cold water is run over the duck feet and then the duck feet are washed for 90 to 120 minutes in a solution of oxygen bleach and 100 degree F. water. Then, cold water is run over the cold feet for two hours and then the duck feet are refrigerated for two hours. Patent number: 5372191Abstract: A device comprises cleaning heads 4,5 mounted on a shaft for free rotation. On sinking and elevating the device on a tractive member, in a liquid up-current, the heads start rotating in different sides. Cutting elements--knives--having an involute profile and arranged on oppositely directed spiral paths cut the deposits. On descent, cutting collars of said knives situated in the lower portion on head perform "rough" cutting, the knives of both heads crush the cuts and chips, and cutting collars in the upper portion of the upper head carry out the "finishing" of the internal surface of an uptake pipe. The given mathematical relations defining the ratio of parameters of the device elements are as follows: the heights of heads and an angle of attack of knives, the lengths of the shaft and a stabilizer, their mass, the length of the pitch of knives and the diameter of the heads.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 1992Date of Patent: December 13, 1994Inventor: Alexei A. Patent number: 5357283Abstract: A television system, the composite color television signal (E.sub.M (t)) whereof is generated using reflected modulated signals (E.sub.3 (t)), wherein at the transmitting side video signals (E.sub.1-1 (t), E.sub.1-2 (t)) are used to quadrature modulate subcarriers at the zero and .+-.(.pi./2) phases, thereby generating folded-band signals (E.sub.3 (t)) at subcarrier frequencies selected such as to provide the required phase shifts of the subcarriers in adjacent lines of one frame and in identically numbered lines of adjacent frames. The thus generated folded-band signals are transmitted during time intervals allocated for them in the composite color television signal (E.sub.M (t)). At the receiving side, separating messages of folded-band signals (E.sub.3 (t)) out of the received composite color television signal (E.sub.M (t)) and delaying these messages in delay units (11) for time intervals constituting multiples of the television scan.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 1993Date of Patent: October 18, 1994Inventors: Vladimir E.
