The assembly comprises an air blockage door secured to a frame, capable of moving from a first to a second position via a pivot block and a shaft. The movement of the door is enabled by securing the door via the pivot block to an arm mechanism. The mechanism includes a pivot member and an activation pin. The activation and deactivation of the pin causes the movement of the door.

    Abstract: An improved method and a cassette assembly for protecting electronic components, comprising of a housing that encloses the electronic components disposed over an insulator. The housing also encases a scissor jack component that can move from a first to a second position to enable actuation and unmating of the cassette assembly, such as to a next level of packaging. The housing has an overhang design, having complementary upper openings and lower cable shroud areas for supporting cable connections and for providing heat dissipation relief and EMC containment. Alternate designs provide for other components such as a honey comb screen and an EMC gasket to further enable EMC containment. In addition, other components such as an actuation trap door, a retention feature and card support members or support struts can be added to the design to enable better actuation and provide for an improved structural rigidity.

    Abstract: A method and system for performing floating point additive arithmetic operations of long operands in a narrow dataflow. The operands include first and second floating point numbers having first and second mantissas, respectively, the second operand greater than the first operand. The mantissas are both separated into a low portion and a high portion, the high portions are loaded into N-bit operand registers. The high portion of the first mantissa is aligned with respect to the high portion of the second mantissa, the high portions are then moved into 2N-bit registers. The low portion of the first mantissa is aligned in accordance with the alignment of the first mantissa high portion. The low portions of both mantissas are then concatenated into the registers, the first mantissa concatenated using a hold-function circuit. A 2N-bit-wide adder performs the additive arithmetic operation on the concatenated mantissas.

It comprises a finned structure positioned such that air can easily pass though it; a heat source plate disposed thermally in direction of heat flow to one side of the finned structure such that the heat source plate is in thermal communication with the finned structure fin base and fin tips, and a second plate also disposed at an opposing end of the finned structure in thermal communication both with finned structure fin base and fin tips. The heat sink also includes fluid re-circulator disposed at least partially in the plates for circulating fluids though the plates and around said finned structure such that both fin tips and fin base is cooled.

A vertical divider is positioned in the middle of the enclosure for forming two side-by-side receptacles, each for receiving an electronic module in drawer-like fashion. A front portion of the enclosure is hinged by a continuous hinge such that the front portion swings from a closed position to an open position. A tab on the front of the vertical divider engages with a slot in the front wall of the swingable front portion when the front portion is in the closed position for adding rigidity to the enclosure when the front portion is closed. A locking slide arm is provided for locking the hinged front portion in either the open or closed positions.

The passive fluid cooling loop provides heat transfer from the high power device to the air cooled cover assembly, allowing placement of the air cooled cover assembly other than immediately adjacent to the high power device. The cooling apparatus is easily disengaged from the electronics drawer, providing access to devices within the drawer.

    Abstract: An enclosure apparatus provides for combined air and liquid cooling of rack mounted stacked electronic components. A heat exchanger is mounted on the side of the stacked electronics and air flows side to side within the enclosure, impelled by air-moving devices mounted behind the electronics. Auxiliary air-moving devices may be mounted within the enclosure to increase the air flow. In an alternative embodiment, air-to-liquid heat exchangers are provided across the front and back of the enclosure, and a closed air flow loop is created by a converging supply plenum, electronics drawers through which air is directed by air-moving devices, diverging return plenum, and a connecting duct in the bottom. In a variant of this embodiment, connecting ducts are in both top and bottom, and supply and return ducts are doubly convergent and doubly divergent, respectively. Auxiliary blowers may be added to increase total system air flow.
