  • Patent number: 6419700
Abstract: A bone plug anchoring device is provided for anchoring at least one graft to a bone. The bone plug anchoring devices comprises a plug and a locking element. The plug has a hollow passageway and a flange portion which extends radially out from the plug. The locking element is adapted to cooperate with the flange portion so that, when the locking element is locked to the flange portion while the graft(s) is (are) sandwiched between the locking element and the flange portion, the graft (or grafts) remains (or remain) anchored to the plug. The bone plug anchoring device is particularly well-suited for anchoring a hamstring tendon graft to a tibia after passing through a femur. The present invention also provides a method for anchoring at least one graft to a first bone.

  • Patent number: 6420837
Abstract: The electronic circuit which is intended to feed a magnetic-field sending coil has a first input terminal (1) for receiving a power-supply voltage (Ubat), a second input terminal (2) for receiving a periodic control signal (SC), an output terminal (4) for applying an output voltage (U) at the terminals of the said sending coil (L), in such a way as to convert the said periodic control signal into a periodic magnetic field sent out by the coil. In this circuit, the said output voltage (U) is a periodic signal having a period identical to the period of the control signal (SC), and a duty cycle which depends on the power-supply voltage (Ubat) so that a current flowing in the coil has a peak intensity corresponding to a reference peak intensity. With such a configuration, the range of the magnetic field sent out by then sending coil is not subject to the influences of a variation in the power-supply voltage.

  • Patent number: 6418284
Abstract: A service unit for an electrographic apparatus has a reservoir for storage of fresh toner or developer and a reservoir for storage of waste or depleted toner or developer. The fresh toner reservoir is separable from the waste toner reservoir and detachable from the service unit. The fresh toner reservoir has a wall which, in use, is in contact with a wall of the waste toner reservoir. Both contacting walls are flexible whereby the combined volume of the two reservoirs is less than the sum of the volumes which may be used to store the fresh and waste toner at different stages in the duty cycle of the service unit.

  • Patent number: 6412879
Abstract: A structure for a housing for an axle assembly and method for manufacturing same is disclosed. The composite spring seat has the following considerations; heat resistance (i.e., heat deflection temperatures in excess of about 500° F. and arc resistance in excess of 180° F.); high tensile and flexural strength properties in a broad temperature range (i.e., 41 ksi and 82 ksi respectively at 23° C.); and good impact properties (i.e., 41 ft/lb). The composite spring seat provides reduced weight (i.e. 15 lbs. to 6 lbs.), roughly half the manufacturing costs associated with the convention steel forging, and reduced noise transmitted by the composite material.

  • Patent number: 6409626
Abstract: An axle assembly employs a simple adjustable connection between the differential case and the housing to adjust the position of the ring gear relative to the pinion gear. A pair of adjustment collars facilitates positioning the differential case to selectively position the ring gear relative to the pinion gear of an input shaft. The adjustment collars threadingly engage the differential case. Bearings are disposed between the adjustment collars and the housing. The adjustment collars are rotated to position the differential case together with the ring gear. The adjustment collars are also provided to adjust the preload of the bearings. A locking collar is employed to lock the adjustment collars once the differential case and ring gear are properly positioned. In an alternate embodiment a single adjustment collar is employed. Shims and spacers are utilized to position the differential case and ring gear and the adjustment collar used to adjust the preload of the bearings.

  • Patent number: 6408973
Abstract: An integrated wheel end system for a vehicle including a clutch adapted to provide driving engagement/disengagement of a wheel to convert between driven and non-driven modes of wheel movement. A vehicle is provided with both 4×2 and 4×4 capabilities and, when 4×4 capability is required, a negative pressure is applied to a vacuum cavity thus causing a piston, shift fork and spline collar to move inboard. The spline collar is splined to the constant velocity joint and as it moves inboard it locks on the spline plate locking the wheelend to the axle shaft. The invention also provides a default 4×4 embodiment, the spline collar is splined to the joint and as the piston fork and spline collar move inboard, they unlock the wheelend from the axle shaft. A selectively activated actuator is provided for moving the clutch member between its driving and non-driving positions.
