Abstract: The invention concerns an apparatus for inducing deep physical and mental relaxation, consisting of a housing containing both a collector (4) and a reservoir (5) wherein are housed a pump (1) and a thermostat heater (2). The liquid contained in the reservoir can be maintained at constant temperature and pumped by a tube (6) to flow onto the patient's forehead whose head rests on the collector. The invention also concerns two other embodiments.

Abstract: The clutch includes a crown ring (22) integral with an annular rim of axial orientation, which a guide washer (17) has externally, this guide washer being coupled elastically of [sic] a web (14) integral in rotation with the output element (1) of a hydrokinetic coupling apparatus. The crown ring (22) meshes with a drive disc intended to be integrated in rotation, in such a way that it can be de-clutched, with the input element (2) of the said apparatus.

Abstract: A brake mechanism for braking an axle shaft rotatably supported within an axle housing. A pair of arcuate brake pads are pivotally pinned within the axle housing such that each of the arcuate brake pads can pivot from an brake position engaging the axle shaft and a free position allowing the axle shaft to rotate freely. The arcuate brake pads are spring biased to the free position allowing axle rotation. A simply pulley system is arranged within the axle housing to allow remote actuation of the arcuate brake pads forcing the brake pads into the brake position to frictionally engage the axle shaft thereby providing a braking force. The axle shaft may be splined to engage a corresponding reverse spline profile formed on the inner surface of the arcuate brake pads to provide a positive braking force to lock the shaft preventing rotation. The brake arrangement is preferably employed to brake an input shaft in a differential assembly or in any drive shaft of a transfer case.

Abstract: A valve control apparatus is provided for an internal combustion engine having a valve and a camshaft. The camshaft has an axis of rotation, a first lobe and a second lobe adjacent to the first lobe. The second lobe is angularly spaced-apart about the axis from the first lobe. The apparatus includes a follower operatively engagable with the camshaft and the valve. The follower has a first operational mode where the first lobe operatively engages the follower on each revolution of the camshaft to open the valve a first time on each revolution. There is a mechanism for selectively putting the follower in a second operational mode where the second lobe operatively engages the follower to open the valve a second time on each revolution of the camshaft. The mechanism puts the follower in the second operational mode on each revolution of the camshaft before the second lobe is fully aligned with the follower.

Abstract: A method for fractionating red blood cells of human blood into three fractions comprises following steps; (a) human blood sample is mixed with dextran aqueous solution and maintained stationarily for 60 to 75 min to fractionate this blood sample into three layers; (b) the upper, intermediate, and lower layer samples are individually separated and collected; and (c) the upper layer sample is treated with hypotonic solution for a short period and then added with hypertonic solution. Further the invention provides antibacterial or bacterial proliferation inhibitory material produced by the method. This method can easily fractionate three different blood fractions including red blood cells as a main component and having different functions. These three different fractions can be applied to several clinical tests such as antibacterial test and the like.

Abstract: A digitizer system includes a pointer (e.g. stylus or puck) for manipulation by a user over a work surface of a tablet. The tablet includes a menu strip area thereon. The location of the pointer on the tablet is shown by way of a cursor shape on a corresponding monitor or display which is in communication with the tablet. According to certain embodiments of this invention, the cursor shape shown on the display is changed as a function of the pointer's position within the menu strip area of the tablet. Thus, for example, a first cursor shape may be shown on the display when the pointer is over a first area of the menu strip, while a different second cursor shape may be shown on the display when the pointer is over a second area of the menu strip.

Abstract: A trigger safety block for guns including a unitary rigid block made of rigid plastic or a metal block. The trigger safety block has a rigid plate and two projections extending from the rigid plug through the trigger area of the gun. A first projection extends behind the trigger of the gun to prevent depression of the trigger. A second projection extends through the trigger area in front of the trigger and between the trigger and trigger gun. The first and second projections preferably are dimensioned to frictionally fit between the trigger and tiger guard. Each of the projections has an aligned bore extending therethrough and receives a lock member to prevent the trigger block from being removed from the trigger area.

Abstract: A process is disclosed for collecting and disposing of waste (1), in particular household rubbish. Waste is separately collected and sorted at the place at which it is produced in plastic bags (3a, 3b, 3c) provided with appropriate distinguishing markings (2a, 2b, 2c) in accordance with recycling criteria. Portions of waste (4) are packaged by closing and vacuum-sealing the plastic bags, and the closed and vacuum-sealed bags that contain the various types of waste are placed together at random into at least one common garbage container (5) and transported to a central collecting point where the plastic bags are sorted according to their markings for final disposal and/or recycling.

Abstract: An artificial lure arrangement for sport fishing. The artificial lure has a basic body that can be secured to a fishing line. The basic body can be shaped in approximately the shape of a fish, or can be configured in imitation of a fish head. A paddle may extend from the underside of the basic body. The basic body can have a cavity therein which can be filled with a liquid or the like to adjust the density of the basic body. This advantageously permits adjustment of an immersion depth of the lure arrangement. The liquid or the like can be introduced into the cavity from the outside of the body, through a closable opening. A spear element can be movably attached to the basic body. Dead bait fish, rubber fish, twister or the like can be slid onto the spear element.

Abstract: A part time four wheel drive vehicle has an axle disconnect in its auxiliary drive axle. The axle disconnect comprises a vacuum motor and a tubular shift fork that drives a clutch sleeve so that the clutch sleeve translates between a first position where clutch teeth of the clutch sleeve engage clutch teeth of an outer axle shaft and a second position where the clutch teeth disengage. The vacuum motor and shift fork are housed in a modular assembly disposed between the axle and disconnect casing to improve packaging and reduce the size of the connect mechanism while providing better protection of the disconnect assembly from the outside environment.

Abstract: A controlled plumbing fixture comprises a plumbing fixture, an electromechanical valve operably associated with the fixture for regulating water flow thereto, a control operably associated with the valve for controlling operation thereof, and a push button assembly cooperating with the control. The push button has an axially movable plunger, an axially movable signal supplying element, and an elastomeric member disposed about and slidably engaged with the signal supplying element for selectively positioning and maintaining the signal supplying element intermediate axially spaced first and second points. The push button is operably associated with the control for causing a demand signal to be supplied to the control for thereby causing the control to supply a control signal to the valve, so that operation thereof occurs upon actuation of said signal supplying element by movement of the plunger.
