  • Patent number: 6811590
Abstract: A gas concentrating method and apparatus is provided in which equalization is accomplished below two sieve beds, to thereby save compression energy, to reduce exit noise, and to obtain a gas whose gas purity with respect to an amount of flow has been enhanced. The gas concentrating method makes two sieve beds communicate with each other at their bottoms when a pressure difference between a pressurized pressure and a decompressed pressure is maximized in the multi-bed type sieve beds which alternately operate between pressurization and decompression, to equalize an internal pressure in the sieve beds. The gas concentrating apparatus includes a compressor (50), sieve beds (60-1, 60-2), solenoid valves (40-1, 40-2), an orifice (90), check valves (90-1, 90-2), a storage tank (100), a pressure controller (70), a flow meter (80), a controller (110), and a muffler (20).

  • Patent number: 6808080
Abstract: An apparatus designed to automatically latch and unlatch the lid of a container. The apparatus includes a weight pivotally mounted on the side of the container for movement between first and second positions. The weight is positively connected to a latch by a connecting rod, and as the weight pivots between first and second positions, it moves the latch between latching and unlatching positions. Tipping the container causes the weight to shift thus the container is unlatched only when it is being dumped. A method for operating the latch is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6810351
Abstract: A position detector includes a position indicator. Transmission/reception of electromagnetic waves relative to the position indicator is performed at least twice while the same loop coil is being selected. With a counter circuit and a switch circuit, a phase difference less than or equal to one cycle of a resonant frequency fO is added to a signal in each transmission/reception. The phase of a reception signal generated at the loop coil is adjusted, and the phase-adjusted signal is used as a detection clock by a synchronous detector circuit to perform synchronous detection. By computing the average or the sum of the results, external noise in the reception signals is cancelled out.

  • Patent number: 6806945
Abstract: An automatic both sides exposing apparatus 1 is provided, and includes a first exposing mechanism 10 having a first mask and the second exposing mechanism 20 having a second mask; a carrying-in portion 2 and a carrying-out portion 30; an optical system for exposing the substrate; and a first holder A and a second holder B for holding the substrate and delivering the substrate from the first holder A to the second holder B with reversal of sides at a spot located in an interval between the first and second exposing mechanisms where both holders meet each other. Accordingly, a frequency at which the substrate is delivered is minimized, the substrate can be turned over without the reversing mechanism, the substrate can be transferred (and delivered) at good efficiency in limited space and exposed accurately, any inconvenient origin for the substrate may be minimized, and the apparatus is made compact.

  • Patent number: 6805193
Abstract: A fin louver design using breaking and reversal louvers whose lengths are substantially longer than the half-length of the main louver but at slightly lower angles to the fin face, in order to increase the heat transfer while reducing or minimizing the airside air pressure drop. The reversal louvers will not dramatically change the airflow direction but rather permit air to follow the louver direction, thus preventing any dead area where the air speed is approximately zero in the central part between the two reversal louvers. Contact is provided between fresh moving air and the central part between the two reversal louvers.

  • Patent number: 6802791
Abstract: A pressure control valve assembly is disposed in the hydraulic flow path of a differential assembly and is connected to a passageway leading to a limited slip device within the differential case to establish fluid communication there between. The invention includes a machined or formed blind hole, a groove which partially intersects the blind hole, a ball member seated in the blind hole, and a spring resiliently acting on the ball to apply a force biasing the ball into the blind hole. At the intersection of the blind hole and groove, an area, which is not sealed by the ball, is formed that provides a controlled leakage path for the hydraulic fluid. As the hydraulic fluid flow increases, the hydraulic pressure of the fluid on the pressure side increases which increases the force on the ball acting against the spring. As the pressure increases further, the resultant forces on the ball deflect the spring to increase the bleed area and increase the fluid bled proportionally to the fluid pressure.

  • Patent number: 6801192
Abstract: In an input pen having a pen-shaped casing, a ferrite core with a coil wound thereon and a ferrite chip are placed opposed to each other via an O-ring. The ferrite chip has a projection. When the input pen is operated, the projection and the ferrite core are moved closer together. When the ferrite chip is moved closer to the ferrite core during operation, the projection is placed substantially close to the ferrite core. Therefore, high responsivity is ensured without moving the ferrite chip into the coil, and there is no need to form an opening or a cavity in the ferrite core.

  • Patent number: 6800953
Abstract: A starting apparatus for an internal combustion engine comprises a starter/alternator assembly operatively coupled to the engine and capable of being operated in a starter mode for starting the engine and in a generator mode for generating electric power when driven by the engine. The starter/alternator assembly includes a starter/alternator machine drivingly connected to the engine, an inverter provided for controlling an output of the starter/alternator machine to selectively choose either the starting mode or the generation mode, and a starter/alternator speed sensor for monitoring a rotational speed of a rotor of the starter/alternator machine that is electrically connected to the starter/alternator inverter. A method of controlling the engine starting apparatus controls transition of the starter/alternator assembly from the starter mode to the generator mode in response to the rotational speed of the starter/alternator machine directly sensed by the starter/alternator speed sensor.

  • Patent number: 6801020
Abstract: The system is directed to preserving an IC engine installation from potential overload and failure in response to electrical load increases passed along by an associated engine driven digitally controlled starter/alternator. The system controller monitors starter/alternator output and phase current and/or regulates the rate of change of output current in response to increasing electrical load. In an instance where monitored rates of output current change exceed predetermined thresholds, the response rate of the starter/alternator, i.e., rate of change of output current, is set at a predetermined threshold so as to prevent the braking effect of the increasing electrical load from stalling the I.C. engine or causing other operational failure.

  • Patent number: 6800952
Abstract: A system of preserving a starter/alternator in an I.C. engine system installation from excessive operation in the starter mode is disclosed. The system describes a method of comparing the respective rotational speeds of the starter/alternator and I.C. engine in starter mode first to each other and then, if the same, to a predetermined threshold speed. If an overspeed condition is detected, disabling the starter/alternator in starter mode. In addition, if a predetermined number of I.C. engine start sequences have occurred without successful I.C. engine operation, the starter mode is disabled for a predetermined period of time. If several start failures have been detected, the starter/alternator can be disabled until a repair of the I.C. engine fault can be made. • Patent number: 6798284
Abstract: A reference circuit having a variable-impedance function for reducing current consumption is provided. By switching an output impedance of the reference circuit so that the output impedance is large when transmitting a high-frequency signal to a sensor coil, and the output impedance is small when receiving a response signal from the sensor coil, current consumption is reduced. The reference circuit includes a loop gain adjusting circuit having a switch for switching a gain. The magnitude of the output impedance of the reference circuit is switched by opening and closing the switch to switch the gain.

  • Patent number: 6797216
Abstract: A method of making polymeric particulates wherein polymeric scrap material, virgin polymeric material and mixtures thereof are supplied to intermeshing extruder screws which are rotated to transport the polymeric material along their length and subject the polymeric material to solid state shear pulverization and in-situ polymer compatibilization, if two or more incompatible polymers are present. Uniform pulverized particulates are produced without addition of a compatibilizing agent. The pulverized particulates are directly melt processable (as powder feedstock) and surprisingly yield a substantially homogeneous light color product. The pulverized particulates also can be more intimately mixed than mixtures which are provided by only melt mixing, and can be melt processed without a significant delay in achieving phase inversion. The pulverized particulates also provide a stable microstructure.
