    Abstract: An apparatus and method for reacting on articles of manufacture with radiation such as generated by an electron gun, laser or other means directed against a substrate wherein controlled movement of the substrate and/or the radiation is effected under the control of a computer. Controlled operation of the radiation and its movement against the substrate or the movement of the substrate during processing is effected by operating an automatic computer or master controller. An automatic article manipulator is also controlled in its operation to move the substrate prior to and after operation thereon with such radiation. A single computer or master controller may be employed to control the operation of the manipulator for removing the substrate from the vicinity of the radiation and replacing it with a new article to be operated on during the next cycle of operation of the radiation generating means.

    Abstract: A parallel plate reactor having a grounded grid disposed between an RF powered electrode and a grounded electrode upon which a substrate is disposed. A method of utilizing the above apparatus consists of etching the substrate using a composition of 30-100% NF.sub.3 (nitrogen trifluoride) at 25 SCCM (standard cubic centimeter per minute) and 0-70% He (helium) at 75 SCCM to etch a layer of PECVD (plasma enchanced chemcial vapor deposition) Si.sub.3 N.sub.4 (silicon nitride). The etching takes place at 200 mtorr to 5 torr pressure and 50-400 watts RF power.

    Abstract: A peak-valley detector of an analog signal which provides a digital output of the analog signal. A digital counter is used having an output coupled to a digital-to-analog convertor. The output of the digital-to-analog convertor is compared to an input analog signal. The output of the comparator is used to control the input of a clock signal to the counter. A selective invertor controls whether the comparator's output allows counting for signals above or below the digital-to-analog convertor's output level.

    Abstract: A display having a filter disposed on, or in, a portion of the substrate is described. The filter is generally a red filter such that light passing through the filter will produce a red colored light. The filter is comprised of cadmium sulfoselenide in a 62/38 composition (CdS.sub..62 Se.38). The light is generated by a phosphor element which will emit a compatible color light. Other light emitting phosphors, such as green and blue, are also utilized without a filter to provide a multi-colored display.
