Patent number: 5906482Abstract: A double wall vertical cooler designed for cooling extruded feed products and the like includes a cooling chamber with an upper cylindrical section and a lower frustoconical section. An outer wall surrounds the frustoconical section of the cooling chamber to form a cooling air circulating chamber. Apertures formed in a wall between the air circulating chamber and the cooling chamber allow cooling air to flow into the cooling chamber near the bottom with air flow exiting near the top as feed product is dropped from a product inlet in the top of the cooling chamber with product exiting at the bottom of the cooling chamber. The cooler design minimizes product breakage and enhances product throughput.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 1997Date of Patent: May 25, 1999Assignee: Extru-Tech, Inc.Inventor: Paul E. Tedman

Patent number: 5896966Abstract: A seed clutch actuating hydraulic piston & cylinder unit for a seed drill is attached directly to a cam plate on the seed clutch. The clutch actuating piston & cylinder unit is linked to a hydraulic lifting system for the seed drill such that, when a tractor operator operates the hydraulic lift for the seed drill, the clutch actuating piston & cylinder unit is retracted (or extended), with the piston then immediately rotating the seed clutch cam plate, which disengages the seed clutch. The seed clutch thus disengages the seed metering drive shaft so that seed metering is immediately shut off as the seed drill starts to raise. As the operator lowers the seed drill back down to an operating position, the clutch actuating piston and cylinder unit is extended to rotate the seed clutch cam plate back to its original position, which engages the clutch to reconnect operative power to the seed metering shaft.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 1997Date of Patent: April 27, 1999Inventor: Douglas Martin Schmelzle

Patent number: 5890546Abstract: A tractor drawn scraper apparatus with folding wings includes a main frame with a main blade assembly depending therefrom and wing frames with wing blade assemblies depending therefrom. The wing frames are pivotally connected to laterally opposite ends of the main frame and are pivoted by the action of hydraulic cylinders connected between the main frame and the wing frames respectively. The wing frames are lowered for soil engagement and raised for transport. A wheel frame includes a wheel frame axle pivotally connected to the main frame by way of the main blade assembly and having a pair of radial wheel support arms with ground engaging wheels journaled thereon. A pair of wheel frame cylinders engaged between the main frame and the wheel support arms are activated to raise the wheels for soil engagement by the blade assemblies and to lower the wheels for transport. A tongue assembly extends forwardly from the main frame for hitching to a tractor to draw the blade assemblies over a soil surface.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 1997Date of Patent: April 6, 1999Inventor: Robert S. Patent number: 5882063Abstract: A tractor canopy attachment system includes a pair of vertical mounting brackets which are attachable on respective upright posts of a tractor roll bar and a horizontal mounting bracket which is attachable to a cross member of the roll bar. A canopy attachment frame includes a cross member attached to the canopy near the rear thereof, with a mounting flange attached to the cross member which cooperates with the horizontal mounting bracket to hold the canopy in place on the roll bar. A pair of angled braces are attached to respective ends of the cross member, with each brace being removably attachable to a respective one of the vertical mounting brackets. A plurality of easily removable pins hold the canopy mounting flange in position on the horizontal bracket and a single pin holds each angled brace in position on its respective vertical mounting bracket. With the inventive installation system, the entire canopy structure is easily installed or removed in a few minutes by a lone operator.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 1997Date of Patent: March 16, 1999Assignee: AGCO CorporationInventor: Richard W. Patent number: 5878504Abstract: A rifle scope vertical alignment apparatus includes first and second plates, each with a bottom surface shaped as an inverted V. A vertically oriented elongate slot is formed in one of the first and second plates and a receiving channel is formed in one of the first and second plates to slidably engage the other of the first and second plates. A level is positioned on one of the first and second plates such that it is visible from a rear surface of the apparatus. A threaded screw extends through the slot and into a threaded bore on the other of the first and second plates so that the plates can be held in a selected position relative to each other with the inverted V bottom surfaces aligned. The alignment method involves positioning the inverted bottom V of the first plate of the alignment apparatus atop the rifle barrel just in front of the objective end of the scope, placing the inverted V bottom surface of the second plate atop the scope barrel and then tightening the threaded screw.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 1997Date of Patent: March 9, 1999Inventor: Jeffrey W.
