  • Patent number: 5817054
Abstract: A veterinary implanter includes an attached disinfectant dispenser including a reservoir for holding a quantity of disinfectant, a pump attached to the reservoir, and a special needle holder spray tip with the implanter including a conduit which has an inlet opening connected to the disinfectant pump. An exit opening of the conduit is coupled to the needle spray tip which is designed to spray disinfectant 360 degrees about the inlet end of a hypodermic needle cannula which is held in place against the spray tip by a threaded needle holder extension. The inventive disinfectant dispenser thus allows an operator of the implanter to selectively inject a quantity of disinfectant into the needle with each implant, with the disinfectant then being carried by the implanted pellets into a wound created by the needle.

  • Patent number: 5813601
Abstract: A temperature responsive flow control valve has a plunger type actuator positioned in a fluid flow passageway between a valve head and an adjustable abutment member. The actuator includes a canister filled with a heat expansible material which expands upon heating to drive the actuator from the canister so as to engage the valve head and drive it out of seated engagement with a valve seat against the biasing force of a spring. The abutment member is axially adjustable toward and away from the valve seat to adjust the distance therebetween. By adjusting the distance between the abutment member and the valve seat the temperature at which the actuator expands to a sufficient degree to open the valve may be adjusted. A controlled leak through the valve is provided.

  • Patent number: 5810624
Abstract: A support block for supporting and interconnecting multiple electrical connectors to form a "two-fer" electrical circuit splitter includes a first portion with a first thickness forming a first surface for holding a male electrical plug and a second portion of a second thickness extending from the first portion and forming a second and a third surface for holding respective ones of a pair of female electrical plugs. An aperture is formed in the second portion and extends from the second to the third surface to allow electrical connections to be made between the pair of female plugs. Secure electrical connections can thus be made via cable passages of the male and the female plug, as well as between the two female plugs through the aperture positioned therebetween. A projection is formed on the block near the third surface which projection fits within and substantially covers the cable passage in the second female plug.

  • Patent number: 5810662
Abstract: An adjustable damper for controlling air flow between portions of a building includes a plurality of vanes positioned in a frame opening, which vanes are selectively, simultaneously rotatable between open and closed positions. A reversible motor and an actuating linkage on one side of the damper drives a first vane axle about an axis, and a vane linkage on the opposite side, rotates the other vanes along with the first vane. The actuating linkage includes a shaft which is offset from the first vane axis, which shaft is turned by the motor between open and closed positions. A linkage arm pivotally connects the shaft and the vane axle and the linkage arm is bent at an angle such that, when the shaft is rotated to the closed position, the linkage arm is rotated to an over center position in which it securely latches the vanes in a closed position. The damper, motor and drive linkage fit within a single, integrated housing which can be secured within a wall opening from a single side thereof.

  • Patent number: 5806809
Abstract: A switch point position detecting system and method uses a plurality of proximity detectors positioned proximate the switch point or points of a railroad switch. Additional proximity detectors are placed within a switch machine housing to detect the position of components therein, such as lock rods and lock bars. One or more Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's) have inputs connected to the proximity detectors and outputs connected to relays or switches which control the switch machine and signals. The PLC's are programmed to operate the relays to give signals to proceed only when correct indications are received from all effected proximity detectors.

  • Patent number: 5806259
Abstract: An apparatus for reinforcing a structural member such as a beam or joist comprises a cable which is secured under tension to anchor brackets mounted on opposite ends of a beam. The cable extends across a face of the beam and across and in engagement with a bearing bracket mounted to the face of the beam intermediate its ends. The cable engages a cable engaging member on the bearing bracket and bears upward thereon. The cable thereby bears a portion of the load applied to the beam intermediate its ends, resisting distortion of the beam and providing increased recovery ability. First and second tension adjustment mechanisms are securable to the beam to engage the cable on opposite sides of the bearing bracket respectively to permit the tension on the cable to be adjusted. At least one end of the cable may be secured to an adjustable anchor bolt on the respective anchor bracket to further permit adjustment of the tension on the cable.

  • Patent number: 5803198
Abstract: A double pivoting tractor hood assembly includes a tractor hood, hood latch, and a mounting bracket assembly which is attachable within a tractor engine compartment. The bracket assembly includes a movable plate with a hinge mounting surface and a bracket latch. The movable plate, and the hinge mounting surface, is pivotable between a lower, latched position and an upper, elevated position. A hinge is attached between the hinge mounting surface and a top rear edge of the tractor hood. The hood can thus be moved to a tilted position when the hood latch is released, and then to an elevated position once the bracket latch is released. A pair of gas springs bias the hood toward the tilted position, and then the hood is biased toward the elevated position from the tilted position to allow unencumbered access to all components within the engine compartment.

  • Patent number: 5794545
Abstract: A modular table top system includes a variety of differently shaped modular table tops, including rectangular, triangular, curved, semi-circular, etc., which can be selectively linked to form customized table or desk shapes. Each modular table top accommodates leg brackets along linkable edges thereof in alternative positions. In a first position, each leg bracket is positioned completely under the table top proximate the linkable edges thereof, and, in a second position, each leg bracket is rotated 180 degrees to a position straddling two adjacent linked table tops. With leg brackets straddling adjacent table tops, the number of legs required to support a linked structure is reduced, allowing greater freedom of chair placement, and reducing overall cost.

  • Patent number: 5791726
Abstract: An improved, stakeless livestock trailer includes sidewalls and a front wall constructed of stacked and interlocked extruded tubular members. In addition to forming the walls, the tubular members also form the exterior framework of the trailer, allowing a modular floor system to be attached directly to the sidewalls. The tubular members themselves have a unique tongue and groove interlocking structure which allows an adhesive to be inserted therebetween and which provides interior voids for excessive adhesive to collect during assembly. An improved gooseneck design eliminates the large support I beams required by prior art gooseneck designs, thus increasing storage space and/or increasing the clearance of an overhead storage compartment.
