Abstract: A self-ligating orthodontic bracket including a base mountable on a tooth and having upstanding hinge members with aligned slots defining an archwire slot and for pivotally and slidably receiving a pair of openable and closable jaws and a spring member engaging said jaws and actuable upon opening and closing said jaws to selectively lock the jaws into open position for insertion or removal of an archwire and closed position for locking the archwire to the bracket.
Abstract: An orthodontic appliance of the bracket or tube type for bondable mounting on a tooth including an appliance body having a buccal/labial archwire receiving side and a lingual side and a polymer resin bonding base molded to the lingual side such that at least part of the body is embedded in the base, and wherein the base may include openings for receiving an auxiliary or a secondary archwire.
Abstract: A mortarless interlocking building block for a building block system comprising a single light-weight block of the standard building block dimensions molded from plastic and configured to be separable into three-quarter, half and one-quarter sizes for accommodating prescribed wall dimension lengths and openings, including a feature for building interconnecting right-angle walls.
Abstract: An orthodontic appliance, and more particularly an orthodontic bracket to be used in conjunction with other brackets on centrals, laterals, cuspids and bicuspids for moving teeth in the orthodontic treatment of patients, and which includes a closed archwire slot that preferably functions to allow crown tipping, limiting root uprighting, and controlling torque, and a horizontally open rectangular archwire slot for controlling tip, torque and rotation in the final stage of patient treatment. The bracket is made by configuring a front section having a horizontally open rectangular archwire slot of metal, ceramic or plastic, and molding a rear or back section of a suitable plastic resin onto the front section such that the rear section preferably includes a closed mesiodistally extending archwire slot.
Abstract: A golf setup training device for training a golfer to take the best possible setup in relation to a ball when addressing the ball prior to hitting the ball. The device includes a pair of axially aligned foot-positioning bars and extending therefrom at right angles a ball-positioning bar that includes a fixed section and an extendable section. The extendable section is adjustably mounted to the fixed section to adjust the length of the ball-positioning bar according to the height of the golfer and/or for a chosen iron. The device may be easily partially disassembled for compact storage.
Abstract: This invention is in a package and method of packaging ready mountable or prepasted bondable dental appliances, and particularly orthodontic brackets, wherein the appliances include a body and a base, and a layer of uncured polymer resin is applied to the base. The package includes a carrier for the bondable appliances for single or multiple appliances and enclosed in a hermetically sealed bag.
Abstract: A food container and bib wherein the container may be in the form of a sack or box for receiving prepared foods and the bib will be in folded form and removably attached to the container to facilitate use of the bib during the consumption of the foods in the container to avoid soiling of clothing. The bib includes a hanger and is folded and compact, and unfoldable so that it may be easily and quickly hung from a user's neck.
Abstract: Apparatus for pneumatically metering flowable solids products to a conveying air stream without using mechanical metering devices. The apparatus includes an eductor receiving product from a hopper and connected to an air supply that is automatically adjustable in response to the weight of the product to produce a selected product flow rate.
Abstract: An edgewise orthodontic bracket for use in an edgewise or straight-wire technique having a standard horizontally opening rectangular archwire slot and a mesiodistally extending tunnel or lumen separate from and vertically angled to the archwire slot for receiving a relatively small flexible wire during the use of an undersize rectangular archwire in the archwire slot to apply a force to the bracket for capturing lost torque.

Abstract: A drip-proof switch cover for covering an electrical box having a wall switch with an actuator protruding through the cover, wherein a collecting reservoir is disposed at the lower end of the cover to collect liquid drippings from the hand of a user during actuation of the switch actuator.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for measuring the spinal distortions of a person with laser sources prior to and after chiropractic treatment of a patient to differentiate between spinal distortions prior to and subsequent to any treatment. The apparatus includes a wall chart having measurement indicia, shoulder and/or pelvic girdle harnesses or frames mounted on a patient and each having means for projecting laser line and/or dot beams onto the wall chart for measuring spinal tilt and torque. A unique protractor is provided to coact with the wall chart and the laser line beam to measure spinal tilt. A laser source for projecting a vertical line beam measures abnormalities in posture by projecting the beam to a side of a patient.

Abstract: A bilayer base for attaching appliances selected from the group consisting of a component of a dental appliance, an orthodontic appliance, or an orthopedic appliance to a bony part of the human body wherein the appliance part to be attached to the bony part of the body may be made of metal, ceramic, or plastic. The base permits the appliance to be ready for mounting and includes a cured layer of polymer resin mounted on the appliance and an uncured layer of substantially the same polymer resin over the cured layer which when cured becomes integral with the cured layer in attaching the appliance to a bony part of the body.
Abstract: Apparatus and process for producing a clay slurry from raw clay in a substantially dust-free manner including a water-driven vacuum eductor for metering the removal of clay from a super bag container and mixing the clay with a carrier water that also serves as the motive force for the eductor for producing a clay slurry and feeding it to an equalization tank that de-aerates and equalizes the slurry. A bag shaker is provided in the source of clay to assist feeding where needed, and a vacuum breaking valve is provided for the eductor to control the flow of raw clay into the eductor. The bag of clay is suspended from a load cell that continuously delivers a weight signal to a programmable logic controller adjustable to set the rate of clay being fed to the eductor and to activate the bag shaker if the clay flow rate lags the set rate and the vacuum breaker if the clay flow rate exceeds the set rate.
Abstract: A self-ligating orthodontic appliance including a base, one or more pivotally and movably mounted jaws on the base, and a spring member actuable to coact with the base and jaws and selectively move the jaws between open and closed positions.
Abstract: A cartridge heater for mounting in the bore hole of a device to heat the device, having an improved release coating to facilitate the removal of the cartridge heater from the bore hole subsequent to operation at elevated temperatures, wherein the release coating is a fast-drying, graphite-based solid film lubricant that bonds to the heater.
