  • Patent number: 4075273
Abstract: Method of making a precision injection-molded form for an inductance coil comprises a cylindrical core member having a surface of relatively low dimensional precision, and a thin plastic layer molded over the surface to provide a surface of high dimensional precision for supporting the windings of the coil. Metal insert-members having threaded axial bores and radially extending wing portions are provided at either end of the core to establish electrical contact with the winding and a mounting capability for the assembly. The coil form is formed by injection molding techniques and apparatus which provide for axial compression of the assembly prior to molding to obtain a predetermined longitudinal dimension, and for equalization of forces exerted during molding to prevent longitudinal deformation.

  • Patent number: 4067761
Abstract: The overlapping edges of a continuously formed tubular configuration of plastic web are fused together between a backup ring and a sealing roller continuously heated by hot air directed against the periphery of the roller. When the heated roller is pressed in sealing engagement against the overlapped edges of the moving film it is rotated due to the frictional engagement of the roller with the film. A portion of the hot air impinges on blades extending laterally from opposite sides of the roller to apply torque thereto and thereby keep the roller spinning whenever the roller is out of frictional engagement with the overlapped edges of the continuously advancing web. By keeping the roller spinning it is evenly heated and hot spots are not allowed to develop as they would if the roller stopped while hot air continued to impinge on it. Cooling air is applied to the sealed overlapping edges after the sealing operation has been performed.

  • Patent number: 4068096
Abstract: A system for monitoring respiratory pressure or other pressure-variable function at a remote location develops within a transmitter terminal a carrier tone frequency-modulated according to applied pressure. The carrier tone is conveyed over a conventional telephone channel to a receiver terminal wherein an analog signal is developed from the carrier tone for application to recording or indicating instruments. The base frequency and deviation characteristic of the carrier tone is preset and non-user adjustable to avoid the necessity of setting up the system prior to use. To assure system continuity a pilot tone is generated at the receiver terminal and conveyed over the telephone channel to the transmitter terminal, and an alarm is sounded at the terminals when either but not both of the pilot and carrier tones are absent in the telephone channel. The terminals are preferably constructed within compact housings having wells for receiving the handsets of associated telephones for convenience of use.

  • Patent number: 4066131
Abstract: A hitch assembly for detachably connecting an independently operable rotary ground tiller to the rear of a garden tractor or other riding vehicle for towed operation therebehind. Remote tiller clutch and tilling depth controls are mounted on the tractor within easy reach of the tractor operator. The hitch assembly includes a draw bar hitch pivotally mounted to the rear of the garden tractor, a tongue member mounted to and extending forward from the tiller, and a dual pivotal mounting universal joint releasably pivotally mounted to and between the draw bar and tongue. Removable pivot pins provide means for maintaining the universal joint in pivotally mounted relation between the tongue and draw bar.As hitched to the tractor, the rotary ground tiller, when desired, may be easily disconnected for independent walk-behind operation by removing one of the pivot pins from the hitch mounting, disconnecting the remote clutch control cable, and remounting the conventional tiller clutch control to the clutch.

  • Patent number: 4065241
Abstract: Improvements in molding apparatus and method for forming a plurality of patties from a mass of agglomerable edible material such as, chopped meat, fish, poultry, vegetables, or the like. The molding apparatus includes a rotatable turret having a plurality of mold cavities positioned therein with a piston reciprocably mounted in each cavity. Upward piston reciprocation forms a mold in the lower portion of the cavity. An improved food-feeding mechanism having an enlarged end opening in communication with the cavity pushes the edible material into the mold over a wide portion of the turret rotation. The piston reciprocates upwardly while in communication with said food-feeding mechanism to draw food material into the mold and avoid air pockets in same. As the turret rotates and the piston reciprocates downwardly to expel the patty, an improved continuous wire band patty cut-off mechanism cleanly separates the patty from the piston to which it typically sticks, without deforming the patty.

  • Patent number: 4050594
Abstract: A refuse loading apparatus for use in the hopper of a tailgate loading assembly at the rear of a vehicle having a refuse storage body. The packer plate is powered by a hydraulic actuation system including a first pair of hydraulic cylinders which cause rearward and forward motion of the packer plate, and a second pair of hydraulic cylinders which cause elevational movement of the packer plate in the hopper. The packer plate is guided and restrained in its movement by the interior parameters of the hopper and the limits of the hydraulic cylinder movement. The pairs of hydraulic cylinders are interconnected through the hydraulic actuator system such that when the hydraulic cylinders are fully extended, or when the packer plate contacts an obstruction, whether it be the parameters of the hopper or refuse which it cannot move through the hopper, the packer plate changes direction and moves toward completion of a cycle through the hopper.

  • Patent number: 4049017
Abstract: An improved relief valve, particularly suited for interior use in refrigeration systems. The valve includes a valve body having an inlet, an outlet, and a passageway therebetween with a valve seat positioned in the passageway. Inside of the passageway are mounted an adjustable valve spring retainer, a coil valve spring, a valve piston including a fluorocarbon sealing surface thereon, and a bearing means mounted between one end of the valve spring and either the retainer or valve piston. The spring retainer is adjusted by turning in its threaded mounting. The bearing means prevents the turning moment applied to the retainer from extending to the valve piston. Any rotational relation between the piston sealing surface and seat which would be deleterious to the sealing engagement is eliminated.

  • Patent number: 4048654
Abstract: A compatable stereophonic television sound transmission system for transmitting left and right audio signals in conjunction with a television broadcast wherein video information is conveyed on an amplitude-modulated carrier in a frequency channel having defined frequency limits. The system includes at a transmitter location a multiplex generator for generating a composite signal having a first component representative of the sum of the audio signals, a second component comprising an amplitude-modulated suppressed carrier subcarrier signal representative of the difference between the audio signals, and a pilot component representative of the phase and frequency of the suppressed carrier. The composite signal is utilized to frequency-modulate a sound carrier to develop an RF signal component which is added to the television channel at a discrete frequency spacing from the video carrier.
