Abstract: The aim of the invention is to produce liposome-encapsulated taxol with a high taxol concentration and high stability and hence a high therapeutic effect. The invention involves the development of specific forms of taxol encapsulation and the use of these, optionally in combination with other substances, in the treatment of various types of tumor. The liposome-encapsulated taxol is characterized in that it is prepared by high-pressure homogenization or by aerosol formulation.

Abstract: A two wheel drive bicycle has fixed rear wheel and a turnable front wheel, a chain ring rotatable by way of an external rotation force, and a bicycle frame comprising a top tube and a head tube. A front drive chain runs, in sequence, from the chain ring, about a chain tensioner, around a first pulley of a pulley system, around a freewheel of the front wheel, around a second pulley of the pulley system, and back to the chain ring. The pulley system is fixed adjacent the head tube. The chain tensioner is characterized by a retractable third pulley attached to a spring means, the spring means being biased in a direction away from the front freewheel.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and device for frequency conversion, particularly for frequency doubling and particularly of continuous fixed frequency laser radiation, of semi-monolithic design with a ring resonator consisting of a mirror and an optically non-linear crystal. The objective of the invention is to develop a generic method and a device by means of which the frequency conversion, particularly the generation of the second harmonic from continuous fixed frequency laser radiation under avoidance of the disadvantages described, with high efficiency, with markedly enhanced opto-mechanical stability and a much simplified ease of production is assured, and is met by application of an electrical voltage to an annular piezo-adjuster 103 arranged between the mirror 101 and the crystal 102.

Abstract: The invention refers to a new human liver cell line which may be used for toxicological, physiological and, in particular, gene therapeutic examinations. Fields of application are molecular biology, medicine and pharmaceutical industry. The new human liver cell line is marked positive owing to the parameters albumin and alpha-1-antitrypsin (ATT) and negative owing to alpha-fetoprotein (AFP). It has been deposited in the Deutsche Sammlung von Mikroorganismen (DSM ACC2302).

Abstract: A universal process is disclosed for extracting and purifying nucleic acids from extremely small amounts of highly contaminated various biological and other starting materials. The invention has applications in forensic medicine, medical diagnosis, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetic technology and all related fields. The process is characterized in that nucleic acid-containing materials are lysed, the lysate is incubated with a non-porous, non-structured, highly disperse, homogeneous and chemically pure SiO.sub.2 substrate, the substrate is isolated with the bound nucleic acids and washed with a buffer solution, then the nucleic acids are dissolved from the substrate by a buffer with a lower salt concentration. Lysis of the material and nucleic acid immobilization are preferably carried out in a reaction vessel. The substrate particles have a size of 7-40 nm, preferably 40 nm, and a specific surface from 50-300 g/m.sup.2, preferably 50 g/m.sup.2.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of non-bacterial plasminogen activators in the manufacture of a topical medical preparation for the treatment of slow- or non-healing wounds. In addition, the present invention relates to a composition comprising a physiologically acceptable carrier and an effective amount of a non-bacterial plasminogen activator, with the exclusion of t-PA. Finally, the present invention is directed to a method of treatment of slow- or non-healing wounds comprising the topical application of a non-bacterial plasminogen activator to the site of a wound.

Abstract: The problem addressed by the invention, to develop a microphone with assoted amplifier which has a better dynamic response than analog microphones, requires less space, can replace analog microphones by using cables already in place, and has a low-cost construction, is solved by the invention in that the microphone is made up of an electroacoustic transducer, two analog-digital converters, two preamplifiers connected to the output of the electroacoustic transducers on the one hand and on the other hand each with preamplifiers connected each to an analog-digital converter, and with a driver stage connected to the analog-digital converters for a two-channel digital audio format and in that the amplifier is made up of a receiver for a two-channel digital audio format and a signal processor which generates a one-channel signal from the two-channel audio format as an image of the signal of the electroacoustic transducer. Abstract: A hydrocyclone for separating a combined phase input stream has two nesting truncated, downwardly tapering conical members having an annular space therebetween. A tangential inlet leads to the annular space between the conical members. Alternate embodiments applicable to a hydrocyclone device composed of nesting cylindrical or conical shells forming an annular cyclonic space have passages located on either of the shells to effect an intermediate draw off of a fraction of the flow stream. In addition, a coiled, hollow tube is advantageously situated within the annular space to optimize the flow pattern. Ports may be provided in the hollow tube for removing a gas fraction in counterflow orientation.
