Abstract: A device for treating hemorrhoids is formed from a hollow member having integral insertion and collar portions. Controlling means located within the member and running from the collar to at least partially the length of the insertion portion serve to control the maximum transverse section of the device. Reduction of the cross section eases insertion and extraction of the device. Release of the controlling means allows the device to resiliently return to its normal condition.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for producing a urethane and a carbonic acid ester which comprises reacting a primary amine, an organic compound containing a hydroxyl group(s), carbon monoxide and molecular oxygen with one another by using a catalyst comprising mainly copper.
Abstract: The dial of a timepiece is provided with a first circular array of twelve blue LEDs indicating hours, a second next-outermost array of sixty red LEDs indicating minutes, and a third next-outermost array of sixty green LEDs indicating seconds. Every fifth red "minute" LED is distinct from the intermediate "minute" LEDs in that it is either spaced farther apart from the adjacent LEDs or is larger than the adjacent LEDs, or both. A switch is provided in the timing circuit of the timepiece to select between a "normal" mode of operation wherein the sixty "minute" LEDs are energized in sequence, at the passage of each minute and a "teaching" mode of operation wherein only every fifth "minute" LED is energized, in sequence, at the passage of each five minute interval. The timepiece may be a watch, a clock or the like.
Abstract: A method of preparing a sterile double package by inserting a sterile article into an inner package which has been sealed on three sides, inserting the inner package into an outer package which has three sides sealed, sealing the remaining side of the outer package to form a double package, sterilizing the contents of the outer package, and sealing the fourth side of the inner package through the outer package.
Abstract: A bone staple for attaching tubular shaped soft tissue to bone, in which the transverse bridge of the staple has teeth on its underside to grip the tissue and is arch shaped so that the center of the bridge is above the bone surface when the staple legs are driven fully into a bone.
Abstract: The present invention relates to new acyl derivatives of 1,4:3,6-dianhydrohexitols, processes for their preparation and drugs containing the same. The new compounds have a cardiovascular effect and can be used as antihypertensive agents, as peripheral and central vasodilators and as coronary therapeutic agents.
