Abstract: An apparatus and method for creating electronically simulated flames is disclosed. The apparatus includes features to allow for remote control of multiple electronic flame apparatuses with hand held transmitters and/or computer control with the use of a transceiver. The apparatus can employ incandescent and LED type bulbs or lamps to create a variety of color and brightness conditions. An Internet-based portal is also disclosed to allow for remote access by authorized users.

Abstract: A device and process for conditioning plastic preforms (5) comprising a cooling turret (6) featuring faces fitted with many holders (7) for conditioning preforms (5). This turret rotates around a horizontal axis (X) and carries out a vertical traverse between a top position under an arm (3), which unloads the preforms from the mould, and a bottom position near the table for extracting the preforms (5) from the turret (6). Tie structure of the turret consists of two parallel bars (18, 19) and several joining plates (14) to which the bases of the holders (7) are attached.

The process involves feeding said containers through a furnace divided into two areas: in the first, most of the solvent of the coating is removed by heating the paint with infrared lamps, while the temperature of the containers is controlled through an airflow; in the second, the remaining solvent is removed using said airflow coming from the first area of the furnace.

Abstract: A two-stage regulator having a piston situated in a first stage for substantially reducing high pressures introduced into the regulator. The reduced pressure is exerted against the second stage that includes a plunger-actuated diaphragm that urges an actuator to open a ball valve at a selected pressure to allow fluid to flow out of the regulator at a desired reduced pressure.

The construction prevents transmission or leakage of fluids from one side of the membrane to the other regardless of pressure gradients within the membrane bubble point or water intrusion pressure range, but allows the transfer of vaporized fluid from one side of the membrane to the other.

Abstract: A device and process for extracting plastic preforms (5) from holders. Said device comprises a plate (23), which features straight slits (26) positioned parallel to each other, that is attached to a supporting table (20, 21). Each slit (26) comprises wider sections and constrictions (29, 30), which have a width (L2) smaller than the diameter of the ring (9) of the preform, so that the ring (9) can be fitted into the slit (26) through the wider section. The plate (23) is moved in the direction <<D>> by a specific length until the constrictions are positioned under the ring, and, thus, the preforms are removed by moving the plate away from the holders.

Abstract: The introduction of genetic material or molecules of biological interest into cells is a procedure with an increasing interest both for experimental and application purposes, so that electroporation is a widely used technique, but the electroporation of single adhering cells is still impaired. The present application describes an apparatus for the electroporation of any kind of cell adhering to a substrate at any stage of development, where an electrical signal can be driven and applied to a single adhering cell in culture in order to obtain its electroporation. The method to electroporate a single adhering cell with the apparatus of the invention is also described.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for simultaneously operating the horn and light systems of a motorized vehicle is provided. The controller used to operate the systems can be a single controller that operates the horn when a certain range of pressure is applied to the controller and operates the horn and lights systems when a stronger pressure is applied. The system can include a dedicated horn operating system controller independent of the dual function controller to eliminate the need for differing pressures to operate the horn and light systems substantially simultaneously.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for aligning septic system pipe in a leach field is disclosed. The apparatus includes a plurality of curvilinear members each of which has portions that correspond to the outer circumference of a septic pipe to temporarily secure the pipe in a pre-designated position relative to other adjacent pipes. The curvilinear members can be fixed or variably positioned on an elongate beam that connects and sets the distances between adjacent curvilinear members. The use of multiple apparatuses enables the user to set the relative distances between septic pipes in a leach field with labor-reduced efficiency. A method for aligning pipe with the apparatus is also disclosed.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for monitoring seat belt use in a vehicle from the exterior of the vehicle is provided. Seat belt use indicator lights are positioned on the exterior of a vehicle and wirelessly connected to or hardwired to sensors located in seat belt buckle assemblies to provide information about the use of the seatbelt. One or multiple indicator lights grouped in cluster arrangements to simulate the seat arrangement in a vehicle can be implemented. The apparatus may also be used in aircraft to monitor seat belt use remotely from within the aircraft.

The process involves gripping the bottles by means of rotating gripping devices fastened to a conveyor chain, and conveying said bottles to all the different stations involved in the process: coating, drying, and curing. Centrifugation is used to remove any excess coating from the external surface of the bottles, keeping the bottles fastened to the same conveyor chain.

Abstract: The method for thermally conditioning preforms in accordance with the invention comprises the following steps:—Placing the preforms on a chain conveyor (2);—Conveying the preforms through a first thermal conditioning stage (1) and subjecting them to a first heating or cooling heat exchange;—Removing the preforms from the first thermal conditioning stage and holding them outside for a predetermined amount of time in order to redistribute the temperature inside the preforms;—Subjecting the preforms to at least a second heating or cooling heat exchange in a second thermal conditioning stage (1) or in the first thermal conditioning stage.
