  • Patent number: 8303984
Abstract: This invention discloses compositions and method for treating various types of skin disorders, based on topical cutaneous delivery of copper chemically bound with botanical pigments. Sodium-copper-chlorophyllin is used as an example, showing benefits in the treatment of rosacea, acne, oily skin, enlarged pores, and in relieving skin inflammation. Benefits are also disclosed in treatment of environmentally caused premature skin aging, via reductions in fine facial lines and wrinkles, increased tensile strength of the skin, and increased protection against sunlight via increased production of melanin. Therapeutic outcomes are improved when the copper-pigment complex is enclosed within submicron liposomes.

  • Patent number: 8303985
Abstract: A therapeutic method is described in which copper is delivered into the skin as a complex with sodium chlorophyllin. Sodium copper chlorophyllin is encapsulated in suitable lecithin-type liposomes, containing a high concentration of linoleic acid and having diameters in the range 150-350 nanometers. The method provides therapeutic benefits in the treatment of environmentally-induced premature skin aging, excessively oily skin, acne and acne-related skin disorders, acne-rosacea, and also stimulates the natural tanning response of skin to sunlight and other ultraviolet-containing radiation.

  • Patent number: 8074899
Abstract: Make-up application systems are provided that comprise an air compressor unit, an airbrush connected to the air compressor unit, the airbrush having a gravity feed cup, and a tube connecting the air compressor unit to the airbrush. A cosmetic formulation comprising at least one mineral and water may be introduced into the gravity feed cup, which may then be aspirated into the airbrush and dispersed in a fine mist or atomized spray for delivery on a surface such as a person's skin. The system permits a more flawless make-up application finish for the face, neck and chest, and body, permitting feathering and blending not capable with traditional brush or sponge make-up application systems. Advantages are numerous and include, a more desirable appearance, longer lasting and quicker drying make-up, avoidance of harmful toxins and skin irritants, and enhanced hygienic application.

  • Patent number: 7987547
Abstract: A cleansing pad (10) is made of a web of fibers, forming a substrate (11), where the substrate (11) includes a cleansing agent (12) therein. The cleansing agent (12) is a pourable soap. In making the cleansing pad (10), the cleansing agent (12) is initially heated from solid form into molten/liquid form, and distributed essentially throughout one or more portions of the substrate (11) in molten form to coat the fibers in said portions of the substrate (11). After application of the molten cleansing agent (12), the substrate (11) is then allowed to cool such that the molten cleansing agent (12) solidifies and remains solid at a desired range at and above room temperature, forming the cleansing pad (10). Thereafter, in use, the cleansing pad (10) is applied for cleaning an object in conjunction with a solvent such as water. The solvent dissolves the solidified cleansing agent (12).

Abstract: The present invention relates to highly stable water-in-oil sunscreen emulsions that provide a high sunscreen efficiency (“SE”) having a sun protection factor (“SPF”) of X, where X is at least about 15, and having a sunscreen efficiency (“SE”) of at least 2, preferably at least 3, where SE is the ratio of SPF over the total weight percentage of sunscreen actives based on the total weight of the composition. The emulsions of the present invention provide photoprotection for the period corresponding to the labeled SPF throughout the period of exposure to natural sunlight and comprises (i) at least one sunscreen active and (ii) an alkyl dimethicone copolyol emulsifier in which the water-soluble, alkyl-soluble and silicone-soluble groups of the dimethicone copolyol are in specific ratios to each other. Preferably, the high SE water-in-oil emulsion comprises both a UV-A sunscreen and UV-B sunscreen. More preferably, the combination of sunscreen actives is photostable.
