Abstract: A maximum air flow, minimum space requirement household room air purifier comprising an enclosure arranged to stand on a room floor in a room corner formed by room walls and having a face opening toward the room, an arcuate air purifying HEPA filter, a motorized fan passing room air through said enclosure and said filter in room air purifying relation, and a filter unit comprising a frame carrying the filter for snug interfittment with the enclosure face opening. The filter frame is provided with a reversible self-latch for removably securing the filter to the face opening and a seal against unpurified air by-passing the filter.
Abstract: An increased efficiency, more durable pool leafing tool, and method, for gathering leaves and other pool debris from a pool bottom wall has a handle, a handle-controlled basket of a water-pervious and leaf and debris-impervious plastic mesh pocket having a closed end and an open end and a leaf and debris receiving volume therebetween formed by longitudinally extended sidewalls. The sidewalls provide an open end edge margin that is attached to a supporting frame. A pocket stay structure has one or more spring elements bent on themselves about the pocket closed end. The stay structure extends attached to the sidewalls for substantially the sidewall longitudinal extent length for biasing the mesh pocket volume against collapse onto itself in its empty or leaf and debris-filled condition to facilitate both gathering and disposal of leaves and debris from swimming pools.

Abstract: Cultivated field water is desalinated by a series of independent units that float on the water surface, taking up the saline water with a wick, evaporating the water from the wick in desalinating relation by concentrating incident solar radiation with a combination of a lenses and cooperating mirrors onto the upper end portion of the wick while the wick lower end portion is immersed in the field water, capturing the desalinated vapor resulting by condensing within the unit and returning the condensed, desalinated water to the field, and periodically renewing the wick by rinsing the salt from it at a cleaning station beyond the field.
Abstract: A disk drive suspension interconnect of a flexible conductive laminate with an electrically insulative layer and a pair of trace conductors supported thereon is shunted by having an insulative layer first portion supporting the trace conductors oppose a deflectable layer second portion free of the trace conductors and disposed beyond the first portion and carrying a shunt structure for connecting in parallel the trace conductors. Abstract: A low stiffness, high torsion disk drive suspension having reduced gram load change after backbending includes a laminate of a metal layer, a plastic film layer and a plurality of conductors, a spring portion, a base portion and a distal portion with contiguous discontinuities that reduce the vertical stiffness of the suspension with only a low reduction in torsion, and that limit gram load changes by preventing stretching of the plastic film that would otherwise accompany backbending of the spring portion of the suspension.

Abstract: A disk drive suspension has a load beam with a base portion, a spring portion and a rigid portion to carry a flexure and slider in operative association with a disk. The spring portion is normally bendable between the base portion and the rigid portion. Welding of the spring portion to the base portion and the rigid portion tends to raise the temperature of the adjacent parts of the spring portion to temperatures above their annealed temperature and there is a loss of temper and thus spring properties in these adjacent parts. The invention limits the bending of the spring portion to a region between the base and rigid portion adjacent parts by stiffening the spring portion locally in these parts as with an edge rail. The non-railed region of the spring portion remains bendable and is far enough away from welding heat that it retains its temper and spring properties.
