  • Patent number: 4480838
Abstract: This game entitled "Born Again" employs a board having a path on it formed by a sequence of divisions in which each division represents a period of a life-cycle beginning with birth. The life-cycle path is disposed within another path which is endless and contains blocks representing real estate or other property. Each player is given parents who are represented by tokens that move along the life-cycle track. Each player is represented by a Born Again token which is movable along the life-cycle path. The player is Born Again when the player throws the correct combination of chromosome symbols on a pair of chromosome dice. The player's family is represented by a family traveler token which is movable along the endless path in accordance with throws of standard dice. The game permits a player to acquire a spouse and raise a family. The spouse and other members of the family are represented by appropriate tokens.

  • Patent number: 4480766
Abstract: A bulk transport bag comprises a bag body made of a flexible fabric coated with a plastic material such as PVC, and lifting webs defining lifting loops, which lifting webs are made of a fabric web impregnated and/or coated with a plastic material such as PVC compatible with that coated on the body fabric, the lifting webs and bag body being bonded together by a weld through the compatible plastics materials effectively to form an integral structure. Anti-peel devices are preferably provided at the upper periphery of the side wall of the bag body, where the bonded regions of the lifting webs separate from the bag body to form the lifting loops.

  • Patent number: 4480253
Abstract: A miniature radio receiver for receiving coded radio transmissions pertaining to the actual or predicted state of the weather and storing the information in a memory from which information can be read out on command. In one embodiment, the radio is small enough to be attached to the wrist and has a display face on which information pertaining to the weather is presented. In another embodiment, the receiver is provided with a voice synthesizer which responds to a read out command by audibly announcing the weather information stored in the memory.

  • Patent number: 4452552
Abstract: A drilling machine of the woodpecker type employs a spindle carrying a drill. The spindle is mounted for rotation in a housing having an attached feed screw and those members form an assembly that can be axially moved while the spindle rotates to enable the drill to be fed toward and retracted away from the work. The feed screw is engaged by a nut whose position is controlled by a rapid traverse mechanism which can rapidly retract the spindle away from the work and can rapidly advance the spindle toward the work. The rapid traverse mechanism holds the nut fixed in position in the interval between rapid advance and rapid retraction. A peck feed machanism is connected to the feed screw and repititively feeds the spindle toward the work by causing the feed screw to progressively advance into the nut in the intervals when the nut is fixed in position. A hitch feed is coupled to the feed screw and acts to prevent the drill from bottoming in the hole on rapid advance.

  • Patent number: 4448020
Abstract: A device for generating power from the energy of waves in a body of liquid employs a buoyant reaction element and at least one displacement element which can move back and forth to react against the reaction element. The movement of the displacement element which is caused by the cyclic application of wave forces is converted into a more readily usable form by a turbine driven by the flow of air or hydraulic fluid caused by the movement of the displacement element. Where the air or hydraulic flow is bidirectional, the turbine can be of the self-rectifying type so that it is driven unidirectionally. The turbine may, for example, drive a generator that produces electrical power. Where a plurality of displacement elements are employed, some of the displacement elements are arranged to be out of phase relative to others of the displacement elements.

  • Patent number: 4383415
Abstract: An air cooling and water condensate removal panel has at least two interconnected capillary systems close to a plate having cooling means for removing heat from the plate. The first capillary system exists in a porous, thin outer layer having a very fine capillary structure which presents a cool, wettable surface upon which moisture in the air condenses. The outer layer is maintained cool by the cold plate. The condensate water soaks through the thin porous outer layer and is drawn into the interconnected second capillary system. The second capillary system is substantially coarser than the first system to cause the water to be drawn away more rapidly than the condensate can form upon the outer surface. The water in the coarser capillary system is drawn into a discharge pipe, preferably by employing a pump to maintain a mild vacuum in the pipe.

  • Patent number: 4366012
Abstract: A method of impregnating the inner absorbent layer of a long flexible tube with a curable resin is begun by introducing a mass of the resin into one end of the tube. A window is formed in the impermeable outer layer of the tube at a distance from the resin mass. A vacuum in the interior of the tube is drawn through the window and concurrently the resin mass is pushed toward the evacuated region by passing the tube between a pair of squeezing members. When the flowing resin reaches the vicinity of the window, the window is sealed. Another window is formed in the tube farther downstream of the previously formed window. A vacuum is drawn through the new window while the squeezing members force the resin to flow toward the newly evacuated region. The procedure is repeated until the resin has spread through the entire inner absorbent layer of the tube.

  • Patent number: 4064211
Abstract: A method wherein a tubular liner is applied to the surface of a passageway such as a tunnel or pipeline bore. The liner may be in the form of a flattened tube of absorbent material such as felt or foam such is impregnated with synthetic resin. The liner is anchored at one end of the passageway and is fed into the passageway being turned inside out as it is so fed in. In order to eliminate friction, the liner, before being turned inside out, is supported buoyantly by liquid which serves to carry the liner.
