  • Patent number: 4852993
Abstract: ORI-inhibited and deposit-resistant motor fuel composition comprises a mixture of hydrocarbons boiling in the range of 90.degree. F.-450.degree. F. and (I) the reaction product of a dibasic acid anhydride, a polyoxyalkylene diamine, and a hydrocarbyl polyamine; and (II) a mixture comprising polyisobutylene ethylene diamine and polyisobutylene in a hydrocarbon solvent. • Patent number: 4810261
Abstract: A novel gasoline-soluble reaction product, a concentrate comprising the reaction product dissolved in a hydrocarbon solvent, and a haze-free, deposit-resistant and ORI-inhibited motor fuel composition comprising the reaction product is described. The reaction product is obtained by reacting a dibasic acid anhydride, a novel diamine containing block copolymers with polyoxyalkylene backbones, and a hydrocarbyl polyamine. Motor fuel compositions containing the reaction product additive of the instant invention are haze-free and show improved deposit-resistance and ORI control in comparison with motor fuels without the reaction product. Motor fuel compositions of the instant invention may optionally comprise a polyolefin polymer/copolymer component having a molecular weight range of about 500-3500.

  • Patent number: 4808335
Abstract: An oxidation and corrosion resistant diesel engine lubricant composition, particularly useful in marine and railway diesel engines, comprises a major amount of a base hydrocarbon lubricating oil and from 0.1-5.0 weight percent of a reaction product additive which is the reaction product of an N-acyl sarcosine and a substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic azole.

  • Patent number: 4781731
Abstract: In the partial oxidation of a sulfur- and metal-containing carbonaceous charge fuel to produce a sulfur-containing synthesis gas and metal-containing molten slag, an integrated method of charge fuel pretreatment and Claus unit tail gas sulfur removal is provided. The process of the instant invention is advantageous over other partial oxidation processes in that: (i) a fluid, molten slag which flows easily is produced, thereby improving reactor performance; and (ii) the overall removal of sulfur compounds from the synthesis gas is made simpler, more efficient, and less costly, as the need for a conventional Claus unit tail gas sulfur removal process is eliminated.

  • Patent number: 4759864
Abstract: A corrosion-inhibited antifreeze concentrate formulation containing no phosphate, amine, or nitrite compounds consists essentially of:(a) a major amount of a water soluble liquid alcohol freezing point depressant;(b) from 0.1-5.0 weight percent of a C.sub.6 -C.sub.12 aliphatic monobasic acid or the alkali metal salt thereof;(c) from 0.1-5.0 weight percent of an alkali metal borate compound; and(d) from 0.1-5.0 weight percent of a hydrocarbyl triazole. The concentrate formulation and aqueous antifreeze formulations of the instant invention give synergistic corrosion protection for a variety of metal surfaces as compared with compositions containing only the aliphatic monobasic acid/salt or alkali metal borate component alone.

  • Patent number: 4758363
Abstract: An oxidation and corrosion resistant diesel engine lubricant composition, particularly useful in marine and railway diesel engines, comprises a major amount of a base hydrocarbon lubricating oil and from 0.1-5.0 weight percent of a reaction product additive which is the reaction product obtained by first reacting a hydroxybenzoic acid and a polyoxyalkylene polyol to form an ester, and thereafter reacting the ester with an aldehyde or ketone and a substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic azole to produce the final reaction product.

  • Patent number: 4705642
Abstract: A haze, oxidation, and corrosion resistant diesel engine lubricant composition, particularly useful in marine and railway diesel engines, contains 0.1-5.0 weight percent of a reaction product additive. The reaction product additive is produced by first reacting substantially equimolar amounts of an anhydride compound which is either a dibasic acid anhydride or isatoic anhydride and a hydrocarbon-substituted mono primary amine or ether amine at a temperature range of 50.degree. C.-150.degree. C. to produce an intermediate reaction product. The intermediate reaction product is thereafter further reacted at an elevated temperature with a substantially equimolar amount of a heterocyclic azole or polyalkylene polyamine compound to form the final reaction product.
