  • Patent number: 4665435
Abstract: Three primary color signals derived from an original color picture are processed to produce six or seven signals indicative of six or seven hues. These six or seven signals are then modified or corrected by a plurality of correction factors so as to produce three color picture signals which may be used for producing three driving signals respectively applied to three ink-jet print heads via which three primary color inks are applied to a print sheet. The correction factors may be manually adjusted so as to achieve accurate color reproduction by optimally controlling the amount of inks to be applied on the surface of the print sheet. In addition to the primary color inks a black ink may also be used where the amount of the black ink may also be controlled by using other correction factors. The present invention is applicable to not only an ink-jet color reproducing system but also to color printing systems of other types.

  • Patent number: 4627241
Abstract: A closed loop solar collector system (10) includes a fluid receiver (12) for collecting solar heat to vaporize a working fluid therein. A uniflow engine (15), connected to the receiver (12), is powered by the vaporized fluid to power a water wheel (19). The engine (15) includes a single piston (37) acting directly upon a pair of normally closed intake valves (50) projecting into the engine cylinder (35). Under low boiler pressure conditions, a spring loaded connecting rod (62) having depending arms (64) each engaging one of the intake valve rods (54b) when in a normally raised position coordinates simultaneous opening or closing of the valves (50) with a detent mechanism (63), enabling the piston (37) to operate in a nonexpanding state.

  • Patent number: 4624914
Abstract: An optical information recording medium comprising a substrate and a photosensitive thin layer consisting of Te, O and Pd. When exposed to optical energy, this thin layer is capable of undergoing a phase change by which an optical transmittance is changed. The addition of Pd results in an improvement of a response time to a great extent. This optical information recording medium is preferably made by a method using a Pd evaporation source and another source for Te+TeO.sub.2.

  • Patent number: 4607205
Abstract: When an inverter is disconnected from a rotating motor due to power failure or motor accident, it is necessary to connect the inverter power again to the motor rotating by the inertia force in order to keep the motor rotating. To achieve the above reconnection, the inverter is controlled in accordance with the open-loop control method, without use of any motor speed detecting means, thus improving control response speed. In reconnection, the inverter is started at a frequency higher than the rotating motor speed and at a voltage lower than the rated value; only the frequency is decreased gradually but increased gradually again when the detected motor driving current reaches zero or the motor regenerated current starts flowing; and the voltage is raised when the detected motor regenerated current reaches its maximum value.

  • Patent number: 4596553
Abstract: A cannula is provided with a guide bar extending in spaced, parallel relationship to the cannula. Adjacent and overlying a hole formed in the cannula tip through which suction is applied to surgically aspirate fatty tissue is a guide surface adapted to contact and slide against the skin of a patient while the cannula tip is manually directed by the surgeon through the fatty tissue in reciprocating strokes. The guide surface maintains the tip at a constant depth within the tissue so that, upon completion of suction lipectomy, a desired amount of fatty tissue is surgically aspirated while leaving an even thickness layer of tissue intact. A new surgical procedure for performing suction lipectomies with the guided cannula of the invention is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4594979
Abstract: A fuel injection pump serves to inject fuel into an engine. A movable member adjustably determines the rate of fuel injection into the engine. The fuel injection rate depends on the position of the movable member. A critical position of the movable member defines the boundary between a fuel injection enabling range and a fuel injection disabling range. This critical position is measured. An operating condition of the engine is sensed. The movable member is then controlled on the basis of the measured engine operating condition and the measured critical position.

  • Patent number: 4593338
Abstract: A control transistor (3) is connected between a power supply terminal (1) and an output terminal (19). The base bias of the control transistor (3) is controlled by bias control transistors (12, 13), thereby the output voltage is maintained at a constant value. An overcurrent state is detected by a current control detecting transistor (22), and the base bias of the control transistor (3) is controlled by the bias control transistors (12, 13), so as to prevent the overcurrent. The current control detecting transistor (22) further detects the time when the potential of the output terminal (19) becomes approximately 0 V by, e.g., short-circuiting of a load, so as to control the base bias of the control transistor (3) through the bias control transistors (12, 13), thereby the current to the load is decreased to a value considerably smaller than a limited value for preventing the overcurrent.
