Abstract: The present invention provides a speech feature extraction system suitable for use in a speech recognition system or other voice processing system that extracts features related to the frequency and amplitude characteristics of an input speech signal using a plurality of complex band pass filters and processing the outputs of adjacent band pass filters. The band pass filters can be arranged according to linear, logarithmic or mel-scales, or a combination thereof.
Abstract: A first storage unit is accessed randomly in a unit equal to or greater than a predetermined data unit. The first storage unit stores a target program required to be read randomly in a unit smaller than the data unit to execute. A second storage unit stores a reading program for reading the target program from the first storage unit. A control unit reads the target program from the first storage unit according to the reading program of the second storage unit. The control unit stores the read target program to a third storage unit that can be accessed in a unit smaller than the data unit. The control unit executes the target program stored in the third storage unit to gain access randomly to the first storage unit in a unit smaller than the data unit in a quasi manner.
Abstract: A receiving section outputs a received signal. An estimation section estimates transmission path characteristics, using the received signal and a modulated data signal. A compensation section outputs a compensated data signal, using the received signal and the transmission path characteristics. A demodulation section demodulates a modulated data signal, using the compensated data signal. A modulation section modulates a modulated data signal, using the demodulated data signal. The estimation section begins the estimation by comparing a result obtained by modulating known-data and a known-data portion of the received signal. The compensation section compensates for a non-compensated data signal portion, using the estimated transmission path characteristics.

Abstract: A wireless communication terminal that ensures communication using a frequency band suitable for line-of-sight communication even if an obstruction is present in a wireless communication path or a status of a radio wave propagation path dynamically changes. An initial detecting section detects whether it is possible to communicate with another terminal of a master station mode. If communication is possible, a slave-mode setting section sets up a slave station mode, registers the other terminal in a master terminal storage section and transmits to the other terminal a communication indicating that a local terminal is subordinate to the master terminal. If communication is not possible, a master-mode setting section sets up a master station mode when a transmission is received indicating that the other terminal is subordinate to the local terminal. A slave terminal registration section registers the other terminal in a slave terminal storage section.

Abstract: A switching device has an S (Superconductor)-N (Normal Metal)-S superlattice to control the stream of electrons without any dielectric materials. Each layer of said Superconductor has own terminal. The superlattice spacing is selected based on “Dimensional Crossover Effect”. This device can operate at a high frequency without such energy losses as devices breaking the superconducting state. The limit of the operation frequency in the case of the Nb/Cu superlattice is expected to be in the order of 1018 Hz concerning plasmon loss energy of the normal metals (Cu; in the order of 103 eV).
Abstract: A score management system comprises mobile terminals and a score management server which are connected to each other via a wireless communication network. The score management server stores score data, receives a request for displaying score status from the mobile terminal, transmits data representing the score status based on the stored score data to the mobile terminal, receives a request for inputting new score data from the mobile terminal, and updates the stored score data based on the received request for inputting the new score data.
Abstract: A receiver receives e-mails. In the case where an address of an e-mail is a user's e-mail address which is managed by another e-mail server device, a transfer unit transfers the e-mail to the another e-mail server device. In the case where an address of an e-mail is a user's e-mail address which is managed by an e-mail server device including an inquiry unit, this inquiry unit inquires of the corresponding user whether to accept the e-mail to be delivered from its e-mail addresser. In the case where the user does not accept the e-mail to be delivered, a notification unit sends a message for informing the addresser that there is no user having a public e-mail address. In the case where the conditions for delivering an e-mail are all satisfied, a delivery unit delivers the e-mail to a user having a public e-mail address.
Abstract: The invention concerns an implantable device (1) for delivering medicines in liquid form comprising: a reservoir (2) provided with an inlet (3) and an outlet (10), said reservoir (2) being adapted to expel the liquid; a variable volume chamber (5) provided with an inlet (11) and an outlet (12), the volume of the variable volume chamber (5) being in particular smaller than that of the reservoir (2); a first conduit (6) communicating the outlet (10) of the reservoir (2) with the inlet (11) of the variable volume chamber (5) to fill the latter; a second conduit (8) whereof one of the ends is connected on the outlet (12) of the variable volume chamber (5).
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to an automotive outside mirror assembly, and in particular, to a mirror adjustment mechanism with a compact and slim structure, allowing a precise adjustment of the mirror over a wider adjustment angle.
