  • Patent number: 8337626
Abstract: A method of removal of beryllium contamination from an article is disclosed. The method typically involves dissolving polyisobutylene in a solvent such as hexane to form a tackifier solution, soaking the substrate in the tackifier to produce a preform, and then drying the preform to produce the cleaning medium. The cleaning media are typically used dry, without any liquid cleaning agent to rub the surface of the article and remove the beryllium contamination below a non-detect level. In some embodiments no detectible residue is transferred from the cleaning wipe to the article as a result of the cleaning process.

  • Patent number: 8336012
Abstract: A method for reducing a timing violation in a negative slack path from an integrated circuit design, by identifying the negative slack path in the integrated circuit design with a processor, and then identifying positive slack paths by determining timing slack for the paths that are disposed before and after the negative slack path. A prediction is made as to whether margin can be obtained from the positive slack paths by performing additional timing optimization on the positive slack paths, and it is determined whether that margin is sufficient to reduce the timing violation to at least a desired level. If the margin is sufficient, then additional timing optimization is performed on the positive slack paths, and the margin is used to manipulate the clock skew and reduce the timing violation on the negative slack path.

  • Patent number: 8330372
Abstract: A rapidly twisted electromagnetic accelerating structure includes a waveguide body having a central axis, one or more helical channels defined by the body and disposed around a substantially linear central axial channel, with central portions of the helical channels merging with the linear central axial channel. The structure propagates electromagnetic waves in the helical channels which support particle beam acceleration in the central axial channel at a phase velocity equal to or slower than the speed of light in free space. Since there is no variation in the shape of the transversal cross-section along the axis of the structure, inexpensive mechanical fabrication processes can be used to form the structure, such as extrusion, casting or injection molding. Also, because the field and frequency of the resonant mode depend on the whole structure rather than on dimensional tolerances of individual cells, no tuning of individual cells is needed.

  • Patent number: 8325334
Abstract: An apparatus for inspecting an edge of a substrate. A light source produces a light beam, and a two-dimensional beam deflector receives the light beam and creates a semi-annular scanning beam. A first flared parabolic surface receives the semi-annular scanning beam and directs the semi-annular scanning beam onto the edge of the substrate, thereby creating specularly reflected light from the edge of the substrate. A second flared parabolic surface receives and directs the specularly reflected light to a detector. The detector receives the directed specularly reflected light and produces signals. An analyzer analyzes the signals and detects defects at the edge of the substrate.

  • Patent number: 8318250
Abstract: Anchored nanostructure materials and methods for their fabrication are described. The anchored nanostructure materials may utilize nano-catalysts that include powder-based or solid-based support materials. The support material may comprise metal, such as NiAl, ceramic, a cermet, or silicon or other metalloid. Typically, nanoparticles are disposed adjacent a surface of the support material. Nanostructures may be formed as anchored to nanoparticles that are adjacent the surface of the support material by heating the nano-catalysts and then exposing the nano-catalysts to an organic vapor.
