Abstract: A new process for preparing pure amorphous rosuvastatin calcium, substantially free of impurities, is disclosed. A process comprising hydrolysing a C1 to C5 alkyl ester of rosuvastatin, preferably methyl rosuvastatin or tert-butyl rosuvastatin, with a base, e.g. sodium hydroxide, in the presence of an aprotic solvent, preferably tetrahydrofuran and N,N-dimethyl acetamide, or in the presence of a mixture of an aprotic solvent and water, to obtain a solution of rosuvastatin salt, which may be converted to another rosuvastatin salt using another cation, e.g. with calcium cation to obtain rosuvastatin calcium. Rosuvastatin amine salts may be obtained as well. In another preferred aspect of the invention rosuvastatin free acid may be converted to various rosuvastatin salts, e.g. to rosuvastatin calcium, rosuvastatin sodium or various rosuvastatin amine salts, including rosuvastatin solvates, e.g. rosuvastatin calcium hydrate.
Abstract: A secondary instrument (11) insertable into a channel (12) in a main instrument (1) in a medical simulator. The secondary instrument comprises an outer sleeve (15) and a handle (17) movable within the outer sleeve. The instrument has a first configuration representing a first real instrument in which the handle is movable with respect to the outer sleeve for a first length of travel and a second configuration representing a second instrument in which the handle is movable with respect to the outer sleeve for a second length of travel which is less than the first length of travel. The instrument is therefore able to physically represent more than one real instrument.
Abstract: There is provided a lubricating composition having a major amount of a lubricating oil having less than about 40% by weight alkylcycloparaffins and a minor amount of at least one diarylamine, and processes for making and using thereof.

Abstract: A fiber instrument for measuring properties of a fiber sample, the fiber instrument having a surface for receiving the fiber sample, a hand for pressing the fiber sample against the surface, an illumination source for selectively illuminating the fiber sample with more than one peak wavelength, where each of the peak wavelengths is independently controllable as to an applied intensity of the peak wavelength, a sensor for capturing images of the fiber sample while it is illuminated, and a controller for controlling at least the sensor and the illumination source. By providing multiple peak wavelengths of illumination that are each independently controllable as to illumination intensity, the fiber instrument as described herein is better able to detect both foreign material within the fiber sample, and color gradations of the fiber sample.

Abstract: A low flow heated/humidified respiratory gas delivery system, especially useful for low flow rates as preferred in the treatment of neonate and other such patients, wherein the respiratory gas is heated and humidified as desired for delivery to the patient and the temperature is monitored at the point of delivery to the patient.
Abstract: Lubricant formulations and methods for producing lubricant formulations are described that provide improved wear protection in engines operated using ethanol-based fuels. The improved wear protection may be provided by an increased amount of overbased calcium detergent present in the formulation.
Abstract: Apparatuses, methods, and kits are disclosed for preventing quick release of a magazine from a magazine well of a Sa vzor 58 rifle without the need to substantially disassemble the rifle, thereby providing a means to modify Sa vzor 58 rifles to bring such rifles within permissible limitations of certain local, state, and federal guns laws.
Abstract: A method and instrument for removing material from an internal portion of a tooth wherein the tool used to remove the material includes an elongate shaft extending from a first end to a second end; a cutting surface extending along a working portion of the elongate shaft; a handle attached to the first end of the elongate shaft, the handle including a first end and a second end; a projection attached to the elongate shaft and extending around a portion of the perimeter of the shaft substantially adjacent to the first end of the handle, wherein the projection provides a barrier to prevent a user's fingers from moving beyond the handle directly onto the elongate shaft.
Abstract: A vehicle speed monitoring system comprises a plurality of cameras (10, 40) for capturing images of vehicle registration marks of passing vehicles. An electronic processing means produces electronic records for each vehicle recognition mark with an associated time of image capture. When a match is found between a vehicle registration mark stemming from a first camera (10) and from a second camera (40) then a central electronic processing means (20) uses the image capture times to calculate a travel time of the vehicle. This time is compared with a minimum travel time for a journey between the first and second cameras. Each camera (10, 40) is provided with clock means individual thereto which produces the times of image capture and each camera is also provided with timing verification means which accesses a plurality of independent time sources.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming a brazing preform. The preform is made utilizing a brazing preform member having a first shaped end and a second shaped end. The first and second shaped ends are mated in a friction fit without any welding to provide the brazing preform.

Abstract: A multi-tapered endodontic file is provided, formed from shaft of material having a shaft. The shaft includes a working portion having one or more tissue-removing edges, points and/or surfaces. The working portion includes at least a first flute and a second flute. The first flute is tapered along its length in accordance with a first predetermined taper function. The second flute is tapered along its length in accordance with a second predetermined taper function.
Abstract: A labeling and a method of labeling adapted for pharmaceutical containers having multiple printed indicia locations varying in size and containing information for a user of varying sized pharmaceutical containers. The labeling includes a single substrate having several labeling options and can be designed with multiple main die cut portions separating various sections of the label such that various size labels can be produced from the single substrate.
Abstract: An apparatus for heat treating manufactured components using microwave energy and microwave susceptor material is disclosed. The system typically includes an insulating vessel placed within a microwave applicator chamber. A moderating material is positioned inside the insulating vessel so that a substantial portion of the exterior surface of each component for heat treating is in contact with the moderating material.
Abstract: An inspection system for creating images of a substrate. A light source directs an incident light onto the substrate, and a light source timing control controls a pulse timing of the incident light. A stage holds the substrate and moves the substrate under the incident light, so that the substrate reflects the incident light as a reflected light. A stage position sensor reports a position of the stage, and a stage position control controls the position of the stage. A time domain integration sensor receives the reflected light, and a time domain integration sensor timing control controls a line shift of the time domain integration sensor.
