  • Patent number: 5253722
Abstract: An impact borer, a connector, a method for embedding lines and an improved method for sinking geothermal wells. The impact borer has a shell, which has a longitudinal bore. An anvil closes one end of the bore. A ram is reciprocally slideable within the bore, against and away from the anvil. The ram divides the bore into front, rear, and ram chambers. A director is joined to the shell. The director is monolithic. The director isolates the front and rear chambers in alternation upon reciprocation of the ram. The director defines an inlet passage communicating with the ram chamber and an outlet passage communicating with the rear chamber.

  • Patent number: 5249556
Abstract: An adjustable lubricating system for an internal combustion engine such as the Harley-Davidson 74 and 80 cubic inch twin-v engines. An oil pump having a pressure relief valve connected to a plurality of passages adjacent the pump outlet through which pressurized oil flows to lubricate various parts depending upon the positioning of the valve. A pressure relief cap is provided with a bore extending therethrough in which an adjusting screw is positioned. The cap, bore and screw have mating threads allowing the screw to be movably positioned within the bore. The cap has external threads thereon mating with the internal threads of the pressure relief valve bore of the fuel pump of the lubricating system of the engine. An oil seal is provided within the cap bore which engages the screw. The screw engages the pressure relief spring of the pressure relief valve.

  • Patent number: 5236289
Abstract: A shielded universal joint having a pivot head defining a primary axis. The pivot head has a ball and a neck. The ball has a longitudinal slot. The slot has a throat at the center of the ball. The imperfect socket head is provided having a socket and a pin. The socket defines a secondary axis. The socket has a cavity concentric with the secondary axis. The cavity closely receives the ball. The socket has a continuous margin. The pin is joined to the socket in spaced relation to the margin. The pin extends through the passage. The pin defines a first pivot axis extending longitudinally through the pin. The pin and the throat define a second pivot axis extending through the throat and the pin perpendicularly to the first pivot axis. The socket head is simultaneously pivotal relative to the ball about both of the pivot axes.

  • Patent number: 5174873
Abstract: A method of isotope enrichment including providing a reactant. The reactant is a mixture of at least two isotopic compounds. One of the isotopic compounds has a greater percentage of a selected isotope than the other. An electron transfer agent is introduced into the reactant isotopic mixture to form a reaction mixture. The electron transfer agent facilitates transfer of electrons interactive with one or more selected nuclei of the reactant. The electron transfer agent is in an amount sufficient upon reaction of the reaction mixture to establish an equilibrium between an electron rich reaction product and an electron poor reaction product. The reaction mixture is reacted until the equilibrium is established. The electron poor reaction product is then separated from the electron rich reaction product.

The flange is joined to the other end of the shaft and has an outwardly facing flange surface extending from the shaft transversely of the axis. The clamp has a clamping surface facing the flange surface. The clamp is movable axially relative to the flange to vary the separation of the surfaces. The retainer is operatively connected to the clamp and is movable relative to the clamp between a first position and a second position. The retainer, in the first position, precludes relative movement of the clamp and the flange.

  • Patent number: 5171313
Abstract: A tool driver having a body with a longitudinal axis and opposite ends. A boss is positioned at one of the ends. A tool collet is positioned at the other of the ends. A plunger is positioned within a bore in the body. The body has a pair of oppositely disposed pins, at least one of the pins being movable in relation to said body in response to movement of the plunger. An actuator is positioned on and connected to the plunger. The actuator and plunger move as a unit axially of said body between an at rest position and a static position. One pin is movable between an extended position and a retracted position as the plunger and actuator move between an at rest position and a static position, whereby a tool can be positioned on the tool driver when the plunger and actuator are in their static position and held in operable position on the tool driver when the plunger and actuator are in their at rest position.

  • Patent number: 5168996
Abstract: A package comprising a sheet of self-supporting material. The sheet has at least one opening therein. The opening is spaced from the edges of the sheet and is filled with a plug. In specific embodiments, the plug may be of a permeable material to which an item such as an electronic component may be adhered by its pins or may be adhered or the plug may be the item to be shipped itself. In other specific embodiments, the plug and item to be shipped may extend from the sheet in one direction or in both directions. A flexible film layer is overlayed the item and sheet and is secured both to the sheet and to the plug. In a specific embodiment, the sheet is then placed within a carton. The plug either spaces the sheet from the exterior of the carton or overlays the exterior of the carton. The sheet spans the item from the exterior of the carton. The carton may include a plurality of sheets.
