Abstract: Hydroxyphenyltriazines of formula I ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkyl, halogen- or C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkoxy-substituted C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkyl, or benzyl, andR' is hydrogen or methyl, are particularly suitable stabilizers for polymethylmethacrylate and copolymers thereof.

Abstract: The gamma crystalline modification of 2,2',2"-nitrilo[triethyl-tris-(3,3',5,5'-tetra-tert-butyl-1,1'-biphenyl-2, 2'-diyl)phosphite] is obtained by crystallizing or recrystallizing said compound from an alkanol of 4 to 8 carbon atoms.The gamma crystalline form is an effective process stabilizer for polyolefins, particularly polypropylene.

Abstract: Novel oligomeric compounds of formula I ##STR1## wherein L is a group of formula ##STR2## wherein the oxygen atom in the group L is attached to the phosphorus atom in the structural repeating unit, and R.sub.5 or the carbon atom in 4-position of the piperidinyl ring in the group L is attached to the oxygen atom in the structural repeating unit, and the remaining symbols are as defined in claim 1, are disclosed as stabilizers for protecting organic material against oxidative, thermal or light-induced degradation.

Abstract: Bismuth vanadate (BiVO.sub.4) is prepared by reaction in nitric acid suspension of a solid bismuth-containing compound and a solid vanadium-containing compound while being subjected to milling at a temperature from 20.degree.-100.degree. C. The bismuth vanadate prepared by this process is a bright, high tinting yellow pigment particularly useful in pigmenting polymers and paints.

Abstract: 6-Chloro-2,4,8,10-tetrabutyl-dibenzo[d,f][1,3,2]dioxaphosphepin and related phosphorochlorites are prepared by reaction of an appropriate bisphenol with phosphorus trichloride in the presence of a catalytic amount of 1-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone in toluene followed by heating the solution and stripping off the hydrogen chloride formed by a flow of nitrogen.

Abstract: The present invention relates to novel tetramethylpiperidine compounds of the general formula (I) ##STR1## in which X and Y are e.g. a group of the formula (IIa) or (IIb) ##STR2## in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are e.g. hydrogen or methyl. The said compounds are effective stabilizers for organic materials, in particular synthetic polymers, against the action of light, heat and oxidation.

Abstract: 2-(Benzotriazol-2-yl)-4-alkyl-6-(2-hydroxy-3-benzoyl-6-alkoxybenzyl)phenols am prepared by reacting a Mannich base of a 2-(2-hydroxy-5-alkylphenyl)-2H-benzotriazole with a 2-hydroxy-4-alkoxybenzophenone. The hybrid products exhibit outstanding efficacy in protecting organic substrates from light-induced deterioration as well as good resistance to loss by volatilization or exudation during the processing of stabilized compositions at elevated temperatures.

Abstract: New azodicarboxylic acid derivatives of formula I ##STR1## where R.sub.1 is hydrogen, oxyl, hydroxyl, alkyl, allyl, benzyl, alkoxy or acyl, and X is --O-- or --NR-- where R is hydrogen or alkyl, are useful for the stabilization of polymers, particularly unsaturated elastomers, by being grafted thereon.

Abstract: Novel compositions are described which comprise an elastomer or a lubricant and at least one compound of the formulae I or II ##STR1## The symbols R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, Z.sub.1 and Z.sub.2 are as defined in claim 1.The compounds of the formula II and some of the compounds of the formula I are novel, and they are used especially as antioxidants.

Abstract: N-Methoxy derivatives of the sterically hindered amines 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine and 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidone are prepared from the corresponding N-oxyl hindered amine by combining hydrogen peroxide and a peroxide-decomposing transition metal salt in the presence of dimethyl sulfoxide.

Abstract: A novel coating for glass with an adhesive strength of >45 Kg/cm.sup.2 and improved resistance to moisture and sunlight, which may contain opacifying pigments for decorating glass surfaces, is a hard (Shore D 84), crosslinked siloxane-urea, siloxane-urethane, siloxane-sulfide or siloxane-amide which adheres covalently to the glass surface and is resistant to scratching and delamination.

Abstract: The amorphous solid modification of 2,2',2"-nitrilo[triethyl-tris-(3,3',5,5'-tetra-tert-butyl-1,1'-biphenyl-2, 2'-diyl)phosphite] is obtained by melting said compound and rapidly cooling the melt.The amorphous solid is an effective process stabilizer for organic materials, especially polyolefins and particularly polypropylene.
