Abstract: New strains of Lactobacillus that have been selected for their capability of improved reduction the number of Streptococcus mutans in the mouth of mammals through inhibiting activity in combination with better binding to the oral mucins and dental plaque, thereby preventing, reducing or treating dental caries, and products derived from said strains, including agents for treatment or prophylaxis of caries for administration to humans.
Abstract: An appetite suppressant composition that is effective for the control of mammalian weight and methods of administration of the composition of the invention are provided. The composition is a cellulose product prepared with ethanol preferably with added sweetener, spice(s), salt and protein for oral administration to a patient.
Abstract: The use of an antibody to a C. albicans cell wall antigen or to a solubilized phosphopeptidomannan (PPM) fraction of the cell wall of C. albicans, or preferably a combination of an IgG2 antibody to a phosphopeptidomannan (PPM) fraction of the cell wall of C. albicans, and an IgG1 or IgG3 antibody to a C. albicans cell wall antigen in the diagnosis of candidiasis or invasive candidiasis is disclosed. Also diagnostic tests are disclosed.
Abstract: A composition and method are provided that are effective for reduction or elimination of the craving foods and other substances for which a patient wishes to reduce consumption or intake. The composition is a paste made of a binder, and non-binder ingredients of mustard, pepper and salt, and optionally a sweetener. The composition of the invention is administered on the tongue as a paste.
Abstract: A hydrostatic tester is provided with an elevated test surface allowing tests to be made inside sleeves, pants legs or other hard to reach locations of completed garments. A constant force spring is engaged by way of a straight line clamp to apply pressure and maintain a consistent and constant force on a sandwich seal. A clamping mechanism can be moved to the left or right of test area to provide a clear unobstructed access to position test item. A raised gasket on the test surface prevents hard contact between test surface and seal ring avoiding damage to test items. A blood pressure bulb is used as a pressure source to force water from a reservoir to the test area. A low pressure gauge is positioned for easy viewing to monitor test pressure.
Abstract: A ring-shaped toe-patch is provided for treatment and prevention of tinea pedis, commonly known as athlete's foot. The toe-patches are made of rubber-foam, attached to a hydrophobic material for elimination of fungus like T. rubrum. The toe-patch has cuts extending into the patch from the central circle in the toe-patch. Due to its perfect fit the toe-patch comes close to the affected area making it possible for a hydrophobic material attached to foam to effectively bind the fungi. Simultaneously with the elimination of the fungi the toe-patch works as a toe separator creating space between the toes.
Abstract: A new instrumental design is provided for in-gel detection and quantification of proteins. This new platform, called Cumulative Time-resolved Emission 2-Dimensional Gel Electrophoresis, utilizes differences in fluorescent lifetime imaging to differentiate between fluorescence from specific protein labels and non-specific background fluorescence, resulting in a drastic improvement in both sensitivity and dynamic range compared to existing technology. The platform is primarily for image acquisition of two-dimensional gel electrophoresis, but is also applicable to protein detection in one-dimensional gel systems as well as proteins electroblotted to e.g. PVDF membranes. Given the increase in sensitivity of detection and dynamic range of up to 5-6 orders of magnitude compared to existing approaches, the described invention represents a technological leap in the detection of low abundance cellular proteins, which is desperately needed in the field of biomarker discovery.
Abstract: A chain hook having a landing area above a mouth of a slot for easy placement of a chain link in the slot so that a gate or door may be detachably held to a support. The chain hook also has a lock hole so that the chain may be padlocked to the chain hook.
Abstract: A linear or cyclic peptide and the use of said peptide in medicine and especially in the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment and/or prophylaxis of a disease associated with inflammatory mediated cartilage destruction. The minimal core sequence of the linear or cyclic peptide is WLEAK (SEQ ID No. 1). Alternatives are WLEAR (SEQ ID NO. 17) and WLDAK (SEQ ID No. 18).
Abstract: A biodegradable cultivation tube, particularly designed to minimize root-twisting using specifically constructed tube edge profiles and tube holes. The cultivation tube has evaporation reducing and moisture trapping properties including a fluid absorbing material and an evaporation protection skirt.
Abstract: A fence wire stretching device is provided having a square shape made up of five leg portions, three of which form three of the sides of the square. The fourth side of the square has a proximal leg portion and a distal leg portion that are pivotally attached together. The distal leg portion swings outward at an angle from the proximal leg portion so that the wire clamp mechanism is in an open position, and may then be pivoted back to be coaxial with the proximal leg so that the wire clamp mechanism is in a closed position. A vehicle attachment means is located at a first corner of the square, and a wire clamp mechanism is located at second corner of the square opposite the vehicle attachment means. A wire spool holding rod extends centrally across the square between a third corner and a fourth corner of the device, and is openably attached to the square so that a spool of fence wire may be slipped over the wire spool holding rod.
Abstract: Selected strains of Lactobacillus and products containing cells of the selected strains to improve breast milk for feeding to babies, more precisely to increase the levels of the anti-inflammatory cytokine IL10 in the milk and reduce the risk that the feeding baby will develop allergies and simultaneously reduce the cause and thereby the amount of TGF-beta-2 in the milk, thus resulting in reduced risk for the lactating mother to develop mastitis.
Abstract: A method and device for measuring and regulating pressure and flow in the spinal canal, in order to characterize individual patient's cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) dynamics. A unique disposable tube-set plate, with computer regulated automated solenoids is used to control flow pressure and the location of a small pressure sensor allows for fully automatic control of the analysis process.
Abstract: A basketball dribble device is provided that has two legs, with each leg; and a rigid cross-member extending between the tops of the legs. A method of teaching a player to cross-dribble uses the basketball dribble device.

Abstract: A device is provided to collect waste oil, grease or other liquids from skillets, pots, pans or other area of needs with a method to transporting the device without contaminating hands with waste oil, grease or other liquids collected by the device. The device is made of absorbent materials and has a circular shape with opposed tabs and slits through which the tabs are pulled to form handles.
Abstract: The present invention relates to materials and methods for prevention, treatment and diagnosing of infections caused by Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). More specifically the present invention relates to new specific variable antibody regions, derivatives thereof and the fully human immunoglobulin, Abba3, which exhibit specific activity to the BabA antigen, expressed by H. pylori, methods for the production of said immunoglobulins, their isolation and use, for example in detection of disease causing H. pylori. The present invention also relates to immunization therapies, i.e. passive vaccination for the treatment and prevention of pathologic infections caused by H. pylori strains.
Abstract: A two-compartment container in which the first compartment has an upper layer and a lower layer and contains a first component that is to be added to the second compartment. Above the first compartment is a dome that is bowed upward and is flexible. Depressing the dome by pushing downward on it causes the lower layer of the first compartment to be ruptured without cutting or rupturing the upper layer, releasing the first component into the second compartment.
Abstract: A monitor system for an air conditioning unit having a suction refrigerant line and a liquid refrigerant line. The monitor system has two low pressure sensors mounted on the suction refrigerant line; a high pressure sensor mounted on the liquid refrigerant line; a back-up battery; an AC transformer; an AC to DC converter board having three connection points; two double DPDT relays; a terminal board having terminals for connection to the converter board, the relays, a warning device and the pressure sensors. For commercial size air conditioning systems, the monitor system has two 12-volt back-up batteries; two AC transformers; two 16 AC to DC converter boards, and three double DPDT relays.
