  • Patent number: 8281644
Abstract: A hydrostatic tester is provided with an elevated test surface allowing tests to be made inside sleeves, pants legs or other hard to reach locations of completed garments. A constant force spring is engaged by way of a straight line clamp to apply pressure and maintain a consistent and constant force on a sandwich seal. A clamping mechanism can be moved to the left or right of test area to provide a clear unobstructed access to position test item. A raised gasket on the test surface prevents hard contact between test surface and seal ring avoiding damage to test items. A blood pressure bulb is used as a pressure source to force water from a reservoir to the test area. A low pressure gauge is positioned for easy viewing to monitor test pressure.

  • Patent number: 8263115
Abstract: A ring-shaped toe-patch is provided for treatment and prevention of tinea pedis, commonly known as athlete's foot. The toe-patches are made of rubber-foam, attached to a hydrophobic material for elimination of fungus like T. rubrum. The toe-patch has cuts extending into the patch from the central circle in the toe-patch. Due to its perfect fit the toe-patch comes close to the affected area making it possible for a hydrophobic material attached to foam to effectively bind the fungi. Simultaneously with the elimination of the fungi the toe-patch works as a toe separator creating space between the toes.

  • Patent number: 8218878
Abstract: A new instrumental design is provided for in-gel detection and quantification of proteins. This new platform, called Cumulative Time-resolved Emission 2-Dimensional Gel Electrophoresis, utilizes differences in fluorescent lifetime imaging to differentiate between fluorescence from specific protein labels and non-specific background fluorescence, resulting in a drastic improvement in both sensitivity and dynamic range compared to existing technology. The platform is primarily for image acquisition of two-dimensional gel electrophoresis, but is also applicable to protein detection in one-dimensional gel systems as well as proteins electroblotted to e.g. PVDF membranes. Given the increase in sensitivity of detection and dynamic range of up to 5-6 orders of magnitude compared to existing approaches, the described invention represents a technological leap in the detection of low abundance cellular proteins, which is desperately needed in the field of biomarker discovery.

  • Patent number: 8123155
Abstract: A fence wire stretching device is provided having a square shape made up of five leg portions, three of which form three of the sides of the square. The fourth side of the square has a proximal leg portion and a distal leg portion that are pivotally attached together. The distal leg portion swings outward at an angle from the proximal leg portion so that the wire clamp mechanism is in an open position, and may then be pivoted back to be coaxial with the proximal leg so that the wire clamp mechanism is in a closed position. A vehicle attachment means is located at a first corner of the square, and a wire clamp mechanism is located at second corner of the square opposite the vehicle attachment means. A wire spool holding rod extends centrally across the square between a third corner and a fourth corner of the device, and is openably attached to the square so that a spool of fence wire may be slipped over the wire spool holding rod.
